Yo Cole. Just gotten round to checking out your channel. It’s really great, I love the detail in this video. And your Mini is exactly how I would build a classic Mini. Subbed!

Cole.. at 19:35 you have the gear linkages around the wrong way..

It's called a first motion shaft as it is the first part of the gearbox to receive motion from the engine through the inker gear from the primary gear on the crankshaft.

Got my box rebuilt and it isn't selecting gears and I followed this video to rebuild it is there a way to free off the selector shafts inside the box

How about rebuilding the remote box. The part that connects to the transmission and has the shifter. The shifter vibrate and rattles unless I hold it to keep it quiet. Help

    Nice video Cole!
Not sure if it makes any difference, but the two knuckle joints on the linkage on my gearbox are round the other way? (male side on gearbox side and female on the diff side)

Thank you for pointing this out it seems I have it backwards on mine. I got the diagram backwards in my head! I’ll be sure to swap that in my next video.

Cole the clip on the first motion bearing outer goes on the outside not the inside. This stops it moving out of the case. There is a small groove that it fits into. Hope this helps

Hey Bernard! Thanks for the tip although on these early remote cases there was no outer groove for that clip. It wasn't until the later rod change boxes and later transfer cases that they outer groove started to appear. :-)

@@classicminidiy Hi Cole all gearboxes have the retaining clip. I have just been out to my workshop to check the different types. i suspect that someone has tried to remove the inner race and pulled out the clip and torn away the clip recess. This explains why it come out so easy this puzzled me at first. I have only seen them come out easily if they have spun in the housing. The clip stops the race from moving forward and crashing in to the bearing.

Hey Mate, Just wondering where you purchased the bearing remover tool that you used in this video for removing both the idler bearing and the first motion shaft outer race. Cheers

I am building a remote gearbox and I was wondering where to get a replacement shaft that you installed at about the 19:30 in the video as mines has had the ball broken off
