Thank you SO much for filming your interview! It's really helpful to see how great teachers like you interview! You sounded amazing, professional, and enthusiastic! I would totally contact you if I ran a school!
Also, in terms of nervousness, I get a LOT of anxiety as well and even though I don't have it under control at all, I do have some tips! One of the things I try to do is turn my anxiety or nervousness into excitement. So if I were getting ready for an interview, instead of thinking about what could go wrong or something like that, I MAKE myself think about the good parts of interviews, like getting to connect with fellow educators, talking about education in general, or whatever else makes you happy! It doesn't work for everybody or every occasion, but it really helps me quiet my anxiety a bit. I hope it help you!

So being a music teacher and a drama/speech/theater coach, I have had plenty of times where I have performed and have gotten used to being in front of people and being vulnerable, but the best advice that I have ever got is to eat a banana a half hour before your "performance" or anything where you get nervous! Bananas contain some serotonin and help you relax just a little bit!! It works wonders!! Plus lots of water with it! 😊

Hi Michelle, great video as always. Just thought I´d drop a comment about interview nerves- I´m a fellow introvert, and I get easily nervous when I´m facing something (say an interview) and I just don´t know what the outcome will be and I feel like I have less control of the situation at hand. BUT I´ve been taught a seemingly silly but effective trick that my mom (who is a psychologist) taught me. I´m 26, so have had my own fair share of interviews, and this works every time! Basically, pick a subtle gesture (f.ex., crossing your fingers or toes, twisting a strand of hair, scratching your arm etc.) and repeat that gesture consistently whenever you´re feeling relaxed, at ease and completely in your element. Over time, you´ll begin to associate that gesture with feeling calm, cool and collected. So when you´re feeling intimidated, anxious/nervous, do that little gesture and it becomes like a little safety point and it helps me to feel more grounded. I know it sounds a little silly, but trust me, it´s really helped me overcome those butterflies during anxiety-provoking situations. Hope this helps, and best of luck with the move and all the interviews ahead. Cheers from Norway! :)

Just wanted to say so thankful to see someone my age who is teaching and the changes you are going through. I have ben following you since December 2016. I moved schools last year at the beginning of the year to another district! I was teaching at a Title 1 school as an ESL teacher in 4th grade with testing. It was an extremely difficult 1st year. I moved to a school with higher parent involvement in my new district. It is so easy to be hard on yourself and think that you could have done better. I was worried about how some of my interiews went and my experience from a Title 1 school gave me lots of experience in my 1st year. Administration gave me compliments on my interview skills after the fact. From what you let us listen to of your interview. You DID AMAZING with your interview!! Keep it up! You are an incredible teacher!

I'm really sensitive to caffeine, so if I have iced tea for lunch I sometimes struggle to fall asleep. But I do have two really important tips for falling asleep (and having better sleep). 1. If you drink caffeine or your mind just keeps racing, focus entirely on your breathing. Purposefully slow it down, slower than is necessarily comfortable. Then try to switch your thinking to something unrelated to real life and unemotional. For example, remembering the plot of a movie or fantasizing about skydiving, etc. 2. Go to bed at the same time every night and wake up at the same time. Within 10 minutes each night for a week. If you're not tired, stay in bed until you fall asleep and eventually you'll start to get tired at the same time each night. Make sure you're getting at least 8 hours per night.

Easiest way I've found to move furniture in parts is to just shrink wrap it together and use packaging tape to pack and attach the corresponding screws to it. If you can wrap those "packs" in a packing blanket or inside a TV box or other furniture (using shrink wrap), it works pretty well.
And I only got over the interview nerves because I went to a Teach Recruitment Day event at the end of my masters. It was 2 days and I had something like 17-20 interviews. Practice and doing it over and over really helped. I also got really good because my involvement level in undergrad and grad school. I was in clubs, I was an orientation leader, I worked with 2 campus offices, volunteered and worked at alumni events, I did grad student government, I was on 4 committees with University professors as well. It just takes practice!

Michelle, I decided to switch schools this spring for the first time in 14 years, which also meant I was interviewing for the first time in 14 years. Talk about nervous! The one school I was most interested in interviewed me on May 17, but I didn't hear anything until June 12....when they offered me a position. 🤗 So, I totally understand your interview angst!

Hi Michelle! I am not a teacher in fact i am the opposite i am a student but i always look forward to watching your videos every week. I feel like you and me are very similar and it is very interesting getting to see a teachers perspective. I have anxiety and panic attacks so i could totally relate to your nerves about the phone interview. I see a councilor once a week and i have found going through a simple task in my head that I don't find stressful to really help calm me down. For example, when i start to feel nervous or anxious i may slowly go over the steps to making a peanut butter sandwich in my head. Obviously everyone is different, but i have found this works well to distract my brain in a good way.

I love to watch your videos, I look for them every week. I feel like you since I have had to do interviews for teaching jobs in the fall and normally I am not a nervous person but as soon as they start something happens and I get so nervous. I feel like I am repeating myself a lot. On a side note we live about an hour away from Salisbury and visit 3-4 times a month. My daughter, who happens to be going into second grade, noticed the different places you were going this week and recognized it as Salisbury. When she saw you going into Panera Bread she said, how could she go without me? She loves Panera Bread. She likes to watch your channel with me.

Your vlogs show us your most productive times, so I'm hoping that off camera you have some downtime, especially a couple of hours before bed to slow your mind down & turn off blue light. Maybe set a whole pre-bedtime routine up of camomile tea, a warm shower/ bath, etc. Best wishes! 😴

Hi Michelle - I have absolutely loved watching your videos this year. I feel so inspired by your positivity and your outlook on teaching. Although I don't know you personally, I just know you are a beautiful person on both the inside and out.
When you were asking about products we would like to see, I would love to have products just like the colorful ones you showed of your alphabet, but instead of the rights I would love to have them more primary colors. My room does not have a theme, but uses red, blue, green, yellow, orange, and purple. I like the bright colors you have, but my room already is decorated in the primary colors so I would love to get some of your cute products with this color scheme. Thanks so much!

"Some how my car just randomly turned into this parking lot and I ended up at MIchael's" that is my LIFE. I wish I was kidding, Michael's is my cars Auto pilot. HAHA I also get a TON of anxiety doing interviews, and I feel like I cannot get myself across very well. I have applied for 60 jobs since May and have had 5 interviews :( and no job. I am so discouraged.

You did GREAT on your interview! I've been teaching for almost 20 years, and think that I'll be interviewing after this school year. I'm pretty sure I'm already nervous. LOL! Your TPT interview packet will be great! :-)

Great job on your interview! We are always our own biggest critic, but truly you did well! P.s. I am assuming there will be a haul video with your buys from this week? I live for those!

Since your application is now complete, is there a job board you can get into for that district?

I will be teaching middle school this year... not sure how to go about decorating the room (it's a math classroom). Wish there were more middle school math youtubers (or middle school youtubers who were as consistent as you!!)

Loved how you filmed your interview and responses. It is incredibly helpful seeing how others answer. Where do you get your photos for your alphabet posters?

Can you make cursive and print posters! I cant find posters with both so the kids can see the difference between the two!

The job I want goes into phase 4 on Monday, so I can finally apply for it! It's been posted for weeks, but wasn't opened to outside applicants. I'll be checking out your interview prep pack. Hopefully it's relevant to middle and high school level teachers.

Thanks for putting up part of your interview!! You are amazing and it seemed so easy for you ( though I know it's not)! I really appreciate all your videos on interviewing and I can't wait to check out your new product. Just a tip: watch how many time's you say "like" as a filler word while answering questions!! I do this so much and I'm constantly checking myself when I speak too :p

Hey Michelle, thank you for working so hard on creating realistic & quality content for teachers. I'm a special area teacher but I still enjoy watching about what goes on in your classroom and life.
I'm a music teacher about to enter my 4th year of teaching. I'm in the New Jersey area if you're ever interested in collaborating on something involving arts integration or comparing classroom teaching with special area subjects. Might be an interesting endeavor :)

If you ever get nervous before or during an interview, eat a lot of potassium! I prefer either bananas or kiwis. I usually eat these before auditions (3 bananas preferably!)

I had trouble sleeping and getting into a routine. I found a essential oil from Young living it is technically a kids one but works great. It's called sleepize and I swear by it. Another thing that worked for me was making sure that I did not use my electronics 30 minutes before I was wanting to go to bed. The other thing I did was always making sure that I went to bed at the exact same time and woke up at the exact same time even if that meant laying in bed for a couple hours. Eventually my body was used to my new sleep schedule and even in the summertime when I'm off I try my hardest to stick to that and tell my body that I can do whatever I need to do tomorrow.😂
