    SUMMARY
    --------------------
Join career expert and award-winning author Andrew LaCivita as he discusses Executive Job Interview Tips: 3 Keys to Getting a Senior Role!
What's happening when you're job interviewing? You exchange information. You need to have the right responses to the employer’s questions. You need to ask good questions. You need the right background. You need to impress.
    1. It’s about their future, not your past.
You need to get the interviewers, the most senior interviewers, thinking into the future. If you can't get them to imagine what their life will be like and what their company will look like with you there, you'll never get hired.
    2. Leaders are inclusive and inspiring.
You need to be the high tide that lifts all the boats. Leaders build more leaders. They don't build more followers.
You need to show them you're great at inspiring and inclusive. You're great at building teams.
    3. Stay away from one-and-done questions because then you’ll be done.
Specifically, I mean asking a great question, then receiving their response, and then moving on to the next question. That's the big mistake!
The message you're sending to them is that you are a puddle skipper. You are not somebody who's digging deep to get information and collecting it all. You're not well researched. You’re not digging deep enough to get the information you need to make a good decision.

I have been through periods where I have interviewed over a dozen times with no offers. The struggle is having a narrow focus and translating how I am a great fit for any role.

    1. Show how you are going to improve business
    2. Give feeling that you being hired means motivated/uplifted employees. That is you are inclusive - refer other people's insight- ideas, your thoughts, keep writing.
3.Asking great questions, that does not lead to dead end answer, else you are dead end. If you don't have follow up questions - shows lack researching and depth skills.

Good Advice. I have an interview tomorrow with the CEO and the COO. So the information given was good however I feel like I did all of those things today...One of the interviewers today was MD. She advised me to just be myself and do what I did today which was most of what you explained in your video. Thanks.

Thank you, Andrew, for the excellent advice. I love that tip to talk about the future. That’s what we do as the leaders of the company. However, often we are caught on bragging about ourselves what we did in the past vs. how we can work together to tackle some of their pain points or achieving their goals. A great tip! I am glad I found your channel a couple of days ago😊. I have been listening to all of your videos nonstop, and it boosts my confidence level. Thanks Andy - as always, great advice! In particular, your guidance on steering the discussion to be future-focused is right on. I think it's especially true in the use case where employers use a Performance Based Interviewing approach (because they are focused on past accomplishments as future indicator of performance)...instead of focused on the value that you can bring them going forward!

I applied this technique for the first time in my most recent interview for a senior role but it seems I am not getting the 2nd interview even as I felt the interview went well...I've always held back in the past in being future focused and how I would solve a situation because I'm a prior business owner and mindful not to come across as not being able to transition to a more subordinate role and coming off as someone who feels I know what they need without being in the position first. Thanks always for the tips. Looking forward to your interview tips book arriving soon!

This can be a strength and a weakness. Strong leadership often goes hand-in-hand with problematic subordinance. Express your desire for autonomy while also explaining how you would use your own entrepreneurialism and creativity to run projects, whilst remaining mindful of the overarching company's goals.

  • @LordToogood
    @LordToogood 6 ปีที่แล้ว

This is really great advice. I do have one question though. A lot of what I have looked at (in general) assumes the candidate is applying for a permanent role. As a contractor, I am hired to go in to a role, perform to a specific requirement and then I move on. The hiring manager is not looking for a long term investment in me, just if I can deliver very quickly on their immediate need. Do the 3 key tips need to be adapted for contract roles or are they applicable to both contract and perm? (Would really like to see some clips focused on applying for and securing contract roles, if you have any).

In the interviews I’ve been in I found it difficult to take them into the future! I’m bombarded with one question after the other that I barely can give my example alas taking them into the future lol

Hi, although my native language is not english, I have sincerely liked these tips that you have presented, they are very interesting and very useful. Now, if I have not missunderstood, you mentioned that there were some link to access to the e-book called ACE YOUR JOB INTERVIEW and a link for the hour of teaching, THREE KEYS TO ACE ANY JOB INTERVEW, but these links don`t appear here. So, would you please point out those links?. Thank you so much.

Hi Andy, Have a Q about Qs to ask. I have couple of interviews ahead, of which the 1st is with my potential boss - regional mktg, and the 2nd is with the regional big-big bosses responisble for all commercial apects. Would you advise repeating same Qs to these different audiences? Would you advise calibrating them acc to the field/level of responsibility? Thank you in advance!
