On a 2007 the left side lower AC plug requires a flat head screwdriver. Gently pry the plastic bar down just a little and pull rearward on the plug. It took me over an hour to figure out the lower right side. I read a ton of comments and it is obvious the 2006, for example, is not the same as the 2008. For the 2007 the gray colored lever on the back of the harness plug is in the up position (locked). On the rear of the harness plug, just under the lip of the gray lever there is a black cut out piece you have to push in. I used a punch. While pushing in use a flat head screwdriver to push down on the gray lever to unlock it. That's it.

please don’t use a screw driver to peel off the plastic covers. especially if it is a customer car. they have little plastic tools for exactly that. they won’t damage the plastic and only cost around 12 bucks for a set. (:

Because you can't just slap some other fancy radio in there, any other attempt and you turn your car's radio slot into a fcking FRANKENSTEIN just to what, fit a fancy old fashioned retro Nissan radio in it? That mustang variant is DESIGNED for the Shaker, deal with it.

I was still able to fix it and the whole thing is looking great ill just neeed to replace the center console lid.

Good Vid, but like to add something. Rule of thumbs - if you disconnecting ANY electrical devices, first disconnect the battery.
P.S. first plug that you disconnected is a passenger airbag. If you get that code, it can be erased only at authorized dealership (you got lucky there, somehow, lol)

I am in the habit of not ever having the key on with airbag lights unplugged from working in a car stereo installation shop for many years. However, some vehicles will clear the code themselves as long as it's plugged back in. Many will require a trip to the dealer if you don't have the proper scan tool to reset it. German cars for example but I had a VAG programmer for those and could reset any codes.

Thank you so much! I bought an 07 Mustang that came with a sound system hooked up by the previous owner. However, the amp wouldn't power up and after doing some tracing of wires and fuses, it turns out the remote or neutral wire wasn't connected to the Bluetooth player. Which then presented a new problem ...how the heck to take the stereo out to connect the wire. Anyway, this video helped alot. Thanks!

Great video!! Particularly the workarounds for those things that can really frustrate, like the pivoting the console to get it out and pivoting the front panel instead of a difficult removal.
Update: Above comment was made in advance of the operation. Having completed it, some more info - touching on both of the above:
The center console readily lifts directly forward and up, over the parking brake and the shifter, to remove. No need to pivot it around the brake handle, or shift into first.
The tricky part for me was the HVAC disconnections. These are not shown in the video. (Take two?) Both are handled from the sides, in hindsight perhaps before the panel is loosened so there's more resistance to the disconnecting. Key point: The right HVAC connector has a lever that flips down to release. This allows full panel removal. Not sure how the panel was pivoted as shown, as there's little slack in the right side wiring.

The shaker radios are absolute junk. The paint started peeing off the buttons on the one in my 2005 Mustang when the car was practically new. Ford replaced it and paint started peeing off the buttons on the new one but by then it as out of warranty. Then a couple of the buttons broke. Then the battery started going dead if I didn't drive the car for a few days. Did a test with the multi-meter and found out the damn Shaker is drawing amps when the car is off and the key is out of the ignition. Good for you! Putting the stock radio back in is smart! Easy job. Aftermarket radios are nice and all but the new aftermarket radios are real picky about the speakers and the external amps. I know from experience with an aftermarket radio that quit two hours into a 4 hour road trip. Pioneer. Lasted less than 2 months. It was professionally wired in but if just one wire or one speaker is bad, it'll throw an amp error and shut down! I reinstalled a stock radio and it works fine now. A lot more to this story but the best thing is don't molest the stock system! Unless you are absolutely certain about every speaker in the car and have absolute faith in the installer, I wouldn't recommend an aftermarket head unit.

It wasn't a cheap aftermarket radio either and it quit in less than two months! I stand by my statement. Stay with the stock radio unless you're going to molest the entire system with new speakers and new woofers! That would run into more than 1000 bucks and it just ain't worth it!

@@grumerguy I did read it and from experience from owning a couple mustangs friends and family having fusions and knowing the odd mechanic on a friend level. These units are crap. Maybe your unit was defective it happens or maybe it was your brand you picked. I never had issues with kenwoods, Sony's.. I'll be putting in a Sony double din shortly in my newest mustang.
Those Ford units are crap. On the masses. For the price you can get a way better one that will perform much more tasks for the age of the vehicle.
When electronics are made in the masses just like manufacturing car parts picking a company that has a higher quality rate is a better choice.
I've never had issues with any of the Sony products I've bought whether it's Walkman, tv's, vcrs disc players, Xperia phones, subs, amps stereo receiver both car and home entertainment, gaming systems.
I wouldn't buy a cheap canadian tire brand or a brand that has fallen from glory (RCA is a prime example. A RCA unit from the late 80's doesn't hold the same value of quailty as today. It's the cheaply made brand now)

You're missing the point entirely!!! Aftermarket is crap!! Stock is where it's at! When you begin to alter a design, you are in essence saying you know more than the engineer who designed the thing! I'm guessing you don't work in that field. There are some vehicles that just can't take an aftermarket piece of garbage in the dash! As I said. The head unit was professionally installed and 2 hours into a for hour trip, it failed! That was just one way! On the return trip it was four hours of no radio!!! The stock radio that I put back into the car went right in like it was made for it! Imagine that! A stock unit that didn't require any alterations in the wiring and it functioned perfectly for the next trip! I had tunes both there and back! Anytime you put an aftermarket unit in over a stock unit, you are adding many new points of failure! The stock unit works just fine and I have no anxiety of whether or not it's going to continue to deliver sound!! So you go right ahead. Keep adding failure points with your aftermarket garbage. It'll bite you in the butt sooner or later!!

@@grumerguy I'll take my aftermarket stuff built better. Not all aftermarket is better that's what I am saying. I don't go for the cheapest ether.
Professionally put in what does thag even mean. You went to Mr.shelby and had him with it in that would be professional.
As for the year of that model of car they didn't care about the perfect engineering aspect but more so staying afloat so they didn't have to taken a bail out from the gov't like gm and others did.
I can solder wires, I can research parts I don't trust anything the "professionals" Ford been wrong many times when it come to the model of cars I've owned of their. And if I went their road I would of been 1000's of dollars wasted on parts that weren't needed or would of failed adventually anyways.
I've worked in many fields and manufactured many car parts
Ranging from Toyota, gm to telsa.
I'm not someone who doesn't have experience. I never paid someone to put a stereo or sound system in my cars. I've done them all my self and none of failed yet. Same goes for aftermarket parts like brakes, air filters, bail joint assembly, harmonic balancer .. Etc
Would I replace my cultch system or bearings with aftermarket.. No some things you don't do that. Would I get cheap China made aftermarket. No none of that shit fits right or last long.
I'm telling you from experience this isn't opinion this is hands on knowledge.
I've owned my fair share of car brands and this model and type I know most about out of all the ones I've owned. I've had two of this very model (series) of mustang
Remember not everyone is a professional even if they say they are
      Lol
