I would put the USB on the front over the radio for easy access, for my mother I select a unid without GPS because her phone already have better and more updated maps and for her CarPlay map interface is easier than 100% Car GPS maps.
So I have this on my Subaru STi but after getting a pro-tune, the tuner guy ended up messing with something that caused the head unit to no longer dim when the headlights are on or get brighter when the headlights are off. I basically have to change it manually in the setup on the stereo. Do you know what i can do to start troubleshooting this?
Did you install it? Do you know what wire you/the installer hooked it up to? You might check the connection or make sure the wire is still delivering the power you need. If the tune changed it (I can imagine why I would have) you could connect to another wire that delivers what you need
I never ran any wire to the Amp. Just used the RCA wires and plugged it into the back of the radio and into the smaller connector right there. Maybe I misunderstood. It was real easy.
Hey I got a question there’s the main harness then a second harness dark grey plug @8:52. that had only two wires white/orange and pink/orange these are data lines I think. Did you leave those unhooked? my mustang is the same year as yours.
@@BudgetNerd thank you. I totally agree passenger's only. I am currently trying to decide between this radio and the alpine ilx-w650. I'm purchasing a 2006 mustang this weekend
You have to provide 12v power to that line for the heads unit to dim. Using the harness won't work right in the mustangs, doing it the way I did it is a workaround.
One of the best installation videos. Very thorough.

So no need to connect both remote power control wires on each harness unless there’s a factory amp correct?
Which wire harness did you used? What about the 3rd conector?

Yes I would have plugged it back in. All plugs get used still.
If you ground the parking switch will that allow you still use the video playback functions?
Yes, it would allow it in more circumstances even.. but its for passengers only to watch!

Nice!
about the headlight dimming, you spliced the illumi wire in to your hazard harness? i like the idea of the head unit dimmin

there are 3 original connectors on the old radio, do u only have to use the big one to power the radio, are the other connectors useless now?
If I recall, it's been a while, you use them all still. One is the antenna, and the other might be power.
Did you ever find out I know what you’re talking about
How did you ground the parking break wire
There is a ground wire on the harness. I just connected it to that.
@@BudgetNerdthank you
Does this work for gt models too?
Yes it would work.
Does it have Bluetooth
Yes
Mine wont turn on
Does this have Apple Carplay?
It does
Wire nuts are made to use in a house , never in a car
Anyone else just super confused with this stuff? Just me? Okay.
No, you're not alone.
