    I remember looking into videos on how to change oil for a few cars, namely the NSX. I always count myself lucky that I don't have to remove the entire wheel for mine. And unlike the 2017 NSX, I suppose you are glad that this NSX doesn't require dismantling the undercarriage and having to remove 7 drain plugs! XD

    Super cool. Just finished changing the oil in my '94 . Just a recommendation - my MR2 would always leak oil on the exhaust manifold when removing the filter - I used aluminum foil to cover it before starting. I do this on the NSX control arm, as well. Simply remove at the end of the job, no extra steps needed! Cheers!

    You should lower the car ONTO the jack stand. Never use a hydraulic jack to hold up a car after it has been raised. Also, you will be able to pour the oil out of the container easier if you turn the bottle 180 degrees from where you have it in the video. Having the opening "up" in relation to engine will be much easier. Good video!

    • @DriversTherapy
      @DriversTherapy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Da Buzz. You are 100% correct on the jack stands. The ones I have are V shape and they would dig into the car. I need to get some new ones but someone just told me about rubber adapters that solve my issue. Thank you for the advice on turning the bottle and for watching the video.

    Nice walk-through and laudable use of the torque wrench. Drain plug is steel on steel at least, but I suspect many folks take the 'guten toight' approach that can end up causing issues in the long term. One observation, I'll have to look again, but I don't think my crank pulley looks like an old phone dial. Is that an aftermarket piece?

    • @DriversTherapy
      @DriversTherapy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Richard! Oh, snap, I have no idea. Can you check again? That is crazy, it would be cool if a previous owner replaced it thus saving me from having to do it or be a risk for a future problem. As far as the video, I am worried how much the NSX guys are going to judge me. I appreciate you watching the video and your comment man.

      @@DriversTherapy Oh, it's just by chance I'm here before all of the "tall filter", "amsoil", and jacking point comments 😜. I did find some pictures though and yeah, mine has a solid outer face. For a moment I thought someone was confused and put one of the balancer shields on the outside, but I'm not sure how that would be possible.

    Thank you for the video, did you ever made a video for transmission oil change yet?

    • @DriversTherapy
      @DriversTherapy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching. I have not done one yet but I will do it when I am up for that service. In the meantime, some advice, make sure to buy the OEM transmission fluid. Make sure you lift the car safely and have room to go under and be able to hold a bottle of fluid and pump. You have to have room to pump the fluid. Have shop towels and something to catch the fluid. It can fling everywhere so be careful and wear eye protection. I let things drain for a while so let the fluid drain. Make sure to get a new washer for your drain and fill bolts. Pretty easy overall, the biggest issue is getting dirty because pumping the fluid can get messy when you remove the pump to one bottle to the next. Let me know if have anymore questions.

    Question: The first time I went to change my oil, I noticed that when I jacked it up on the right, the engine was tilted, and not with the drain hole at the bottom. After it drained, I lowered the jack back down to level the engine (without reinstalling the wheel) and more oil came out, so I always drain it level now. Also, be sure to warm up the engine before draining to get more old oil out (SM ch. 8)
    Good job adding the text about running the engine a bit (to fill up the new, empty oil filter) before checking and topping off the oil. (I fill my oil filter with fresh oil before putting it on - the oil pressure seemed to come back up quicker on restart when I did that) I wonder if a note about checking the oil with the car back on the ground (and LEVEL) would also be helpful.

    Just back over normal car ramps, no need to take off the rear tire. I've never switched out drain plug washers. Never torqued the drain plug, either. Just a waste of time. It's a Honda motor. It will last forever then turn to stone.
