Bloody legend mate. I used your videos for the front and back. I used one of the comments on the video to get the brake calipers to retract using the car. Thank you!

You don't need the diagnostic tool to put the brakes in the service mode.
    1. Set the ignition to ON.
    2. Press and hold the accelerator pedal and place the EPB switch to the RELEASE (downward) position.
Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and EPB.
    3. Set the ignition to OFF then set the ignition to ON within 5 seconds. Continue to hold the accelerator
    pedal and the EPB switch.
    4. NOTE: The EPB system will be deactivated, preventing parking brake application until service has
been completed and service (maintenance) mode has been deactivated. The yellow EPB indicator will
be illuminated and Maintenance Mode will display on the message center.
NOTE: When replacing rear brake pads in service (maintenance) mode, the brake caliper piston must
be compressed into the caliper housing. The brake caliper piston does not have to be rotated while
    compressing the piston.
Set the ignition to OFF then release the accelerator pedal and EPB switch.
To deactivate do the same but pull the brake switch up.
Good video, im shortly going to be doing mine. Only last 19k miles on the standard pads.

Good video Alan, have watched them all now, thanks! Couple of additional notes after doing this myself:
    1. The ignition sequence to enter EPB mode doesn't work on mine - might be the keyless start system
    2. Forscan and an OBD2 reader does work (modified elm327 with MS-CAN switch is needed - £16 off ebay)
    3. The master cylinder reservoir is small, keep an eye on it when winding the pistons in so it doesn't overspill - I had to syringe fluid out
    4. The calipers have a plastic back to them which would be damaged by a G-clamp if more force than usual is needed. I recommend using the wind back kit with the flat plate instead. The pads aren't side specific like the front pads are.
    5. It is only the metal pad element from the anti-squeal that needs transferred to the new pads (i got confused here for a second)
    6. The slider pins shouldn't be greased because they are stainless and won't rust anyway. grease will just attract dirt here and wear them out.
    7. Grease the wheel hub before putting the disc on. Not sure how long the wheel bearings last but don't want to ruin a new set of discs if the bearings go shortly after (i'm at 55kmiles). Same for a smear of grease on the wheels to stop them seizing on - I had to hammer mine off with a block of wood.
    8. nice and easy procedure, just the EPB service mode which complicates things!

Hy Alan just a comment regarding the use of the Dedicated scanners used ? My 2015 Mondeo 2.lt turbo diesel was easy to do with no scanner, i googled it and up popped this 1. set the ignition to ON. 2Press and hold accelerator pedal and place the EPB switch to the RELEASE (downwards/) position. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and EPB, 3 Set the ignition to OFF, then set the ignition to ON within 5 seconds. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch. 4 The EPB system will be deactivated, preventing parking brake application until service has been completed and maintenance mode has been deactivated, The yellow electronic parking brake indicator will be illuminated and maintenance mode will display on the message center ( Change Pads ) Then Deactivate 1 Set ignition to ON. 2 Press and hold the accelerator pedal and place the EPB switch in the APPLY (upwards) position, Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch,
3 Set the ignition to OFF, then set the ignition to ON, within 5 seconds, Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch. 4 Release the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch, job done all the best from Western Australia, Pete the pom,

Pads on some cars seem to last ages these days. My old 14 plate Astra 100k on the rear pads and my wife’s old 09 plate Leon did 80k of around town driving on the rear pads. However her new MINI cooper goes through rear pads every 14k due to sensors that are set too stingily and set off warnings when there is plenty of meat left.

You can retract the epb parking brake using the free Forscan program on your laptop in the service mode settings.
Just make sure you have an ELM USB adapter that has a hs/ms canbus switch and set it in the ms position.

Download the free forscan program to a Windows laptop. Purchase a obd2 elm 327 USB plug in reader with a HS /ms can switch
Plug it into the laptop and obd socket on the car . The rear brake service mode is on the forscan program. Think the can switch on the reader has to be set at the m/s position from what I can remember from last time I used it.

      Hi Alan
Problem solved. When I put callipers out of service mode nothing happened or service mode was only in diagnostic tool. Right calliper was stuck and genereted faults. After dismantling calliper and setup it again everything is fine.

Why do we need electronic parking brakes, useless technology.

Nothing beats an old fashioned pull up handbrake.
