Charlie is so lucky to be playing with all these skilled magic players. He's got a great attitude and personality for magic. So I see him flourishing with all these players.
I love his reasoning "I took out all the boardwipes" which clearly led to him only drawing busted dragons. I will say he isn't wrong that Miirym being drawn early absolutely accelerated the deck but even having the card in the deck goes crazy with the smallest amount of decent dragons.
The funniest moment was he didint copy ur dragon making him lose out on not just a terror of the peaks trigger for more dmg but also would have given him enougph mana reduction to maybe play other cards

If this takes into account cedh it’s definitely not a 9 or 10, the amount of spot removal everyone else doesn’t have at the table is what makes the deck look better
@@station-7 in most commander games misplays happen so frequently that the table is usually vigilant about reminding people of their triggers and static effects that interact with whatever they’re doing, at least in my experience. It seems natural that engaging with magic content as an observer means this behavior comes out even stronger.
They also cheated. I’m pretty sure they weren’t telling him about his missing damage triggers from Terror of the peaks. In 3 turns he missed 34 damage to deal out via terror triggers.
Clearly doesn't Tiamat is supposed to search only if you cast it. He cast the original but not the copy token of it so he only should have searched once not twice.

if the table agrees that the effect should be resolved that way then it's overruled. They are playing in a non-competitive format with the ruleset set to relaxed and without a judge, one can lie about resolutions or adjust an effect and if the table agrees it's all good.
Charlie is new to MTG, and it's a complicated deck. Just saying for the future cause I don't think he was trying to pull a fast one on anyone like y'all are claiming, but rather he made an honest misplay.

As an Ur Dragon player, the amount of things Charlie did wrong hurt my soul a bit, - Morophon only reduces colored costs (The table eventually caught this) - Morophon does not give himself a +1/+1, only other creatures of the chosen type - Tiamat's copy wasn't cast so it wouldn't trigger its own ability - Nicol Bolas would've been free not 1 mana - Nicol Bolas doesn't make the controller discard - Discarding Kloth??? - Goldspan would've been 2 mana, not 3 - Morophon, only reduces mana of creatures of the chosen type, not instants (swords to plowshares) - Goldspan's would've made two treasures on attack - Ur-Dragon is an attack trigger, you hold priority before anyone takes damage to drop the permanent Otherwise, good fun watching Charlie play my favorite commander, would love to see more of it.

41:00 Charlie missed 4 huge triggers. When he casts Ur-Dragon his Myriim would trigger and make a copy. Then his two terror of the peaks would see his two 12/12s and deal 48 total damage.
@@-cynicish- But the outer sleeves aren't. At times you can clearly see the backs of cards. Most notably at 24:02 where he's talking about the damaged card. Not only can you see the back of the card you can also see the damage in question which means that card is essentially a "marked card". If this weren't a friendly game he would be immediately disqualified and even in most friendly games you're bound to get at least one, "WTF is this horseshit?!?"
Charlie throwing away the win for not reading the cards really is iconic at this point. When he attacked with his 2 goldspan dragons, he would get 2 treasure tokens that tap for 2 mana, meaning he could easily have swords'd the islandwalk

Kumena survived, btw... It had 8 toughness when it got hit for 6... But also there was at minimum 24 damage worth of Terror of the Peaks triggers that never happened as the Ur dragon and the copy of the Ur dragon hit the field as 12/12 bodies + whatever second Ur dragon trigger happened in combat dropped into play.
Every single turn 😂. Even if he caught himself he cheated. And tiamat only searches if he enters AND was cast. Copy tokens of tiamat don't search because they weren't cast
Played path of ancestry untapped, forgot to pay 1 for his mana rock, tried to use morphon mana reduction on generic mana, got a tiamat trigger off a copy token that wasn't cast, tried to cast swords (or path I couldn't tell) for free with morphon cost reduction, paid too much for Ur-dragon, paid too much for Goldspan. I think I got most of them.
This brings me joy, lol. Seeing Charlie playing The ur-dragon reminded me of me when I first played my Ur-dragon. I missed so many triggers, damage, etc. Once I started to learn more about magic and practice with my ur-dragon, I got better. I can't wait to see Charlie go super saiyan with the ur-dragon later down the line 😊.

Another very fun episode. :) Good job guys! Just a few remarks in case someone cares: Bristly Bill would have gotten 4 +1/+1 counters per land drop. His own ability and the proliferate count as two different sources of +1/+1 counters, so the enchantment would have triggered twice. Resulting in 4, not 3, extra counters. Also when activating Bill's second ability to double his counters: that would also trigger the enchantment. So he would have been at 15 counters, not 14. (Couldn't have been an even number if you double his counters + 1 extra) And as many others have pointed out: Nicol Bolas only forces opponents to discard cards. Charlie should not have discarded cards there. And Tiamat's ablity only triggers on cast not on ETB. So it would only triggers once here.
I thought so too. Just checked and yep, Morophon can only reduce by wbbrg. You can't use the reduction for generic. Only one mana of each colour per creature spell cast.
I think the boardwipes would have made Charlies deck actually a little less scarier 😂 Thank god for his gambling addiction. And that mist dancer the end - priceless.
Around 25:25, the Tiamat token 'enters the battlefield' but technically isn't 'cast'. Sentinel Wyrm just wills it into existence, so Charlie shouldn't have searched for dragons twice, I think.
I like how for some reason couple of cards in Charlie deck are even in different sleeves :D Such a big "kitchen table" vibes :) Yeah, I hope that in future there would be less mistakes (but on the other hand I kinda... Don't understand how Prof, for example, wouldn't notice them? Maybe he just embraced chill energy, IDK), but even there we could see how he is trying to imrove, catched some missplays himself and corrected them. Again, could it be better? Yeah, I quess. @@kas579 the biggest misplay not caught by the players is the double tiamat trigger, other than that the misplayes were either minor or caught by someone else.

Just a few remarks in case someone cares:
Bristly Bill would have gotten 4 +1/+1 counters per land drop. His own ability and the proliferate count as two different sources of +1/+1 counters, so the enchantment would have triggered twice. Resulting in 4, not 3, extra counters.
Also when activating Bill's second ability to double his counters: that would also trigger the enchantment. So he would have been at 15 counters, not 14. (Couldn't have been an even number if you double his counters + 1 extra)
And as many others have pointed out: Nicol Bolas only forces opponents to discard cards. Charlie should not have discarded cards there. And Tiamat's ablity only triggers on cast not on ETB. So it would only triggers once here.
tiamat only searches if it was cast, so the second tiamat shouldnt have triggered

I thought so too. Just checked and yep, Morophon can only reduce by wbbrg. You can't use the reduction for generic. Only one mana of each colour per creature spell cast.

Around 25:25, the Tiamat token 'enters the battlefield' but technically isn't 'cast'. Sentinel Wyrm just wills it into existence, so Charlie shouldn't have searched for dragons twice, I think.

Yeah, I hope that in future there would be less mistakes (but on the other hand I kinda... Don't understand how Prof, for example, wouldn't notice them? Maybe he just embraced chill energy, IDK), but even there we could see how he is trying to imrove, catched some missplays himself and corrected them.
