Tool Post Fix on the Haas TL-1 Lathe - Part 2 of 3

After the project to slice up 2-inch titanium rod, we identified a weakness of the system: the high tool pressures were rotating the tool post despite being tightened down. We came up with an expedient fix in Part 1.
Herein, we spend more time to do it better. There is one catch... do it with tools and materials presently in the shop. We get it done. This is Part 2 of 3.

All the CNC lathes I’ve used have dowel holes for alignment of the tool-post or turret. But no dowels installed incase its crashed. Have you considered drilling out the centre of the location dowels your installing as a shear-pin incase a tip breaks or you have a bump. Hopefully neither happens to you.

The tool post rotated during a normal, but heavy, operation (see titanium video). Thus this solution. I prefer to not to crash due to my incredible skill, amazing attention to detail, and extreme modesty.
