      The elephant was in complete control of the scenario in all aspects. Power presence and in validation. Their eye sight is just as bad as a rhinos there both needed to come close up to confirm that they are not a threat to each other. However the elephant was with its herd and one distress call to the others would of triggered a stampede. More than likely injuring the rhino and its calf.

      @@logicss2893 Yeah it's happened before. I've seen some rhinos get trampled and skewered by elephants without actually getting impaled and dying, but usually it doesn't end well. Sometimes, rhinos have killed elephants too. Really, they both weigh multiple tons and have literal spears attached to their heads. Whoever runs into the other's weak spot first generally tends to win. No amount of thick hide is a guaranteed defense against that level of force headed by a semi sharp object.

      No need to anthropomorphize animals to appreciate them. The reason why it backed off is because the rhino can very easily do substantial damage to their legs. A leg injury can become a death sentence for large animals like elephants, considering the weight they must carry around as they search for food. It's why even animals like horses or deer will run from an attacking hog or other smaller opponents. Large size comes with many disadvantages, and most large species rely on the intimidation factor, hoping things won't come to blows that may cause them injury (it's also why many animals have defense mechanisms to make themselves look bigger).

    • @TheStraightestWhitest
      @TheStraightestWhitest 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, it's because animals are smarter than to risk battle unless they have no other choice. The only exception to this seem to be jaguars and wolverines, who outright seek conflict for some reason, much to the dismay of any animals that share their habitats.

    Rhinos only want to drink, and mother wants to protect baby.
    Elephant soon realizes this, that's why he does not look for fight but, on the contrary, walks back to let the rhinos access the water.
    Elephant understands perfectly mother rhino, and wants to show her that he is giving her & baby way to the water.
    Mother rhino is a bit over-protective, but that's the way mothers are, aren't they?
    This clip is very informative, it shows that different species can communicate & respect each other...

    • @luka188
      @luka188 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PresbianTier This is definitely not a fully grown male. For one, male elephants are solitary, they are never with other elephants unless it is their mating season. Other male elephants in the area aren't tolerated by them either, they would fight each other to determine who gets to hang around the watering hole, neither do they retreat from anything around them, it is the other animals that take a wide berth around the male elephant no matter what animal it is.
      You can see another juvenile elephant in the background, meaning most likely there is a herd. This elephant is either a juvenile male elephant who is still with the herd and was hanging out in the water by himself, or it is a juvenile female elephant doing the same thing.
      A fully grown male elephant is about 1.5 times bigger than this little baby. It's basically a teen elephant or perhaps an adolescent elephant who is still with the herd, they also aren't a matriarch from it's behavior either, as the matriarch and other leading female elephants always stay with the herd and would never retreat from anything they perceive as a threat or a nuisance, even if it is a large rhino with her calf. These elephants too are much bigger than this elephant shown here.
