That small item you pulled up first of all is the foot from a cruet- salt, pepper or mustard pot Hans! Very many congratulations on the beautiful seal matrix, an absolute peach of a find. I don't have a wish list, as long as I find a coin, a musket ball, a buckle or something of interest I go away happy enough- but there's plenty of items I'd really like to find and a seal matrix is pretty much #1, so I'm green with envy! Beautiful video as ever Hans, many thanks. May Fortuna continue to favour you, and happy hunting always :-D Nick.
Mendip Magic hello nick :) thank you for your helpful and kind comment! you are right about the item you are refering to :) the seal matrix is wonderful. . .it's in good condition but even though i haven't managed to define it yet. . .i keep my fingers crossed for you to find a proper matrix soon :) wish you good luck for your hunts too, my friend! all the best and thank you for watching!! hans

Hans ; The seal matrix was a fantastic find and the buckles and buttons very interesting-too bad the 1703 silver coin was broken, but still a great find- such history! Look forward to your future hunts. Fred
hello fred :) i still can't believe that i finally found one after 20 years of detecting :D. . .it was a great moment when i realised what i've just found! yes it's a pity that the coin is broken! according to the fresh breakage i could have saved it if i had found it earlier. . .anyway a nice find :) thank you for watching and commenting!!! best wishes, GL&HH! hans

Hello Hans! Amazing, finding the the seal stamp. Fabulous! I know this is an older video but still, quite exciting to see. Well done :) All the best to you, Victoria
it's one of my favourite finds. i like seals as they are something personal and full of history. thank you for watching my older videos, too! all the best, hans
TerraGermania I enjoy all your videos. I truly love history and seeing the treasures and artifacts you find never ceases to amaze me. Much respect to you for your patience and knowledge you share with others. Victoria
You seem to find a lot of cartridge cases. If the headstamps can be read, they can make an interesting collection. The DM stamped 30 and 50 caliber were made near my home at Des Moines, Iowa USA. I enjoy your videos Hans.
the fields I detect are littered with cartridges from both world wars and even from earlier battles. . .I should show the back of the shells more often as I'm aware of the fact that many viewers are interested in the markings . .It makes me happy to hear that you enjoy my videos :) thank you for watching!
Oh Hans congratulations, you have a really nice matrix seal there, such good condition too and maybe something to research and find the crest , company or even family! I have to admit it's on my list too, maybe one day :-)
hello my friend! thank you very much for liking my video and finds! the seal matrix is a great find for me and i'm very happy about it! it will be hard to define it though as we have a vast variety of crests here in germany. . .i'll try my best :) thank you for watching and for your kind words! i'll keep my fingers crossed for you to find a matrix soon :) best wishes, GL&HH! hans
Good morning Hans from the United States! Glad to see your upload and I too am happy for the Matrix find! Buckles and Buttons are fine but when you discover something more personal to our past it makes us connect in a more defined way! Please keep us updated on the Crest I.D. Best to you and good day. -Jeff
hello jeff :) good day to you from germania my friend! thank you for liking my video and finds! i'm so happy about the seal matrix i can't tell you! all i found out about it until now is that it should be from the 17-1800s. . .i will definitely keep you informed about the definition of the crest even though it will be very hard as we have hundreds of thousands of crests of all sorts here in germany. . we will see :) thank you for watching and all the best! GL&HH! hans
+Johnny Sachu hello johann, thank you my friend! it's a great find but it's not easy to find out about it's owner. . imagine that in former times almost every merchant had a seal like that. . . thank you for watching my videos :) all the best, hans

hello robbie :) thank you my friend! it was amazing to find this matrix and i can't wait to return to the field! who knows what else i can find there :) thank you for watching and commenting! best wishes, hans
Looks like a very promising field Hans!! I hope you can make a positive impression of the seal matrix. It appears to have a stag and maybe a pine tree? on it. The first unknown object is definitely the foot from a stand of some sort, jewelry box or clock stand maybe, obviously very old. GL&HH
hello brian :) it definitely does and i can't wait to return there :) it will be a task to define the crest as we have hundred of thousans of crests of all sorts here in germany. . .its a jumping deer in front of a spruce or maypole. . . you are right about the unknown object! it's definitely what you've said! thank you for watching, commenting and for telling me about the find! best wishes, GL&HH! hans
glad you like it. . seal matrix are always very interesting finds an I love to find them! unfortunately I didn't receive an result of the definition of the matrix as yet! it seems to be a hard nut! thank you for watching!

it's not easy to find people who are real seal experts. . .i'm still searching for someone to define the matrix for me. . .all i know is that there are hundreds of thousands of crests here in germany :D. . .you could be right with your guess about the age of the seal even though this kind and shape of seals have been in use for at least 200 years before the mid 1800s GL&HH :)
Thanks for all the hard work you put in to make such nice videos. I've watched them all and some a couple times. Very nice work. I worry for you though because you don't wear a hat all that much and you are out in the fields so much exposed to the sun. Sun damages don't show up a lot until you get older then they can be a real problem. My suggestion would be to get a wide brim hat and even one that has a flap that can cover your neck. Take care Hans. You make the best metal detecting videos. Thanks again. Mike
hello mike :) thank you for watching, your kind words and compliments! it makes me very happy to hear that! especially the fact that you've watched some of my videos a couple of times! :) thank you for your concern about my sun exposition. . .i use to apply a very strong sun blocker on my head, face, neck and arms when out detecting. . .thats why i'm still so pale and i never get sunburned :D but you are right! a hat would be even more effective! thank you for being a faithful viewer of my channel! comments like yours are the fuel for me to keep on :) best wishes, hans
Hi Hans, great stuff! Love the seal matrix, well done. Should be from the Saxony area, no? Don't have my book here so not sure, maybe town of Wildemann? Very beautiful buckles, congrats! :-) Best wishes, Lieven
hello lieven :) i love the find, too! i always wanted to find one of these beauties! i really don't know the origin of the crest yet! i haven't got a book to look it up and the research in the internet is nearly impossible. . .i want to show it to somebody who might be able to help! if you have an idea i would appreciate your help, too! thank you for watching my friend!! best wishes, GL&HH! hans
hello matthias :) thank you very much! good on you to find your matrix after 10 years. . .it took me 20 :D thank you for watching and commenting! best wishes, GL&HH! hans
hello derek :) thank you my friend! it is amazing if you think that it took me 20 years to find my first one of these wonderful relics!! can't wait to have it defined! thank you for watching and commenting! best wishes, GL&HH! hans
Great video Hans, superb seal matrix. You got a date on it yet? I found a silver one a while back which is with my FLO now. Great find! Great field! All the best my friend, HH, Rich.
hello rich :) thank you my friend! all i found out until now is that it should be from the 17-18th century. . .it's very hard to find out about the owner, family or civic as we have houndreds of thousands different crests here in germany. . .i hope to be able to find out!! congrats on your silver one! great find! thank you for watching and for your kind words :) best wishes, GL&HH! hans
I've started to watch your posts since I saw your videos highligted on 'Pondguru's' channel. Please don't be offended when I say Zis only once, your English is excellent. Happy Hunting Terra Germania.
hello mick :) welcome on my channel! i'm glad you're here thanx to pondguru :) haha. . .thank you very much! i really like to hear that! getting rid of my accent won't be easy thought :D thank you for watching and commenting!!! all the best, hans
Hello again - I have now watched all your videos and have enjoyed them all. So thank you for an excellent job. I have been detecting eight years and you have inspired me to maybe do the odd video myself!
hello :) it's great that you watched all my videos and i'm happy that you enjoyed them! it's a big compliment for me that i inspired you to do videos yourself. . .thank you for watching and for your kind words! GL&HH! hans
It's battlefield ground but also military camping ground. It's hard to tell exactly what caused the loss of the items. fact is that in napoleonic times thousands of soldiers went through this area.
Thanks for the explanations, however I still want to clarify the lead seals. It seems that they were a means of identification, for proof of ownership or were they just used instead of a cord or leather tie? The European treasure hunter definitely has an advantage over the US as this country hasn't been settled by metal producing people for only a few hundred years. Thanks Hager
you're welcome!! bag seals have a very long history here in europe. . .they even date back to roman times 2000 years ago! it's not easy to define them sometimes as there is no real accessible data base to look them up. . .fortunately there are some guys here in germany who are specialized in defining bag seals! bag seals were used to seal goods in bags so that the receiver had a guaranty that nobody opened the bag before. . .the seals had imprints of the bag content, manufacturer name, logos, crests, dates etc. as far as i know there were also in use in the US!? best wishes! hans
hello clad queen :) thank you for watching and commenting!!! yes you are right! it has to be something like that. either from a toy horse or from a little metal jar. . . best wishes, GL&HH! hans
+Anna M. Addison the matrix is a tough case. . almost every wealthier family and trader had one like that. . it's indeed a beautiful piece :) all the best, hans
I just found you site and subscribed. Thanks you so much for being so detailed and editing the videos and showing the cleaned up item after you have found it in the field. The lead bag seals, what were they used for? Do you compensate the person that owns the field when you find coins of value? I saw the video where you documented your findings on paper and share that with the archeology group, you said they take the coins and such, do they return them to you after they have studied them? I apologize for the questions as you may have addressed them in earlier videos that I have not seen as of yet. Thanks again for taking the time to produce such interesting, informative, and professional videos. HH (Hager) Phoenix Arizona, USA
hello HH :) welcome on my channel and thank you for subscribing and appreciating my videos! lead bag seals have been used to seal bags of goods for example flour, fertilizer, sugar etc. they were widely used in former times and thats why it is the most common find on my sites. the farmer has a 50% share of all the finds i make on his ground but in most of the things i find he isn't interested. we agreed that we will give all spubstantial finds to a local museum. the coins i have given to the archaeologists will go directly to the museum after they have been examined. thank you for watching, commenting and for your kind words! please stay tuned :) best wishes and greetings from germany, hans
hello jan :) thank you my friend! i will watch your video now. . your matrix interests me! thank you for watching and commenting! best wishes, GL&HH! hans
The seal matrix has a date, stag running (courant), and a cedar tree. Jesus blessed the cedar trees. The Cedar is of great importance around the world here in America the Native Indian's see the tree as sacred. After a 4hour search. My guess is that it was a Jewish court persons Seal
One of the best channels on TH-cam mate 🙂👍 please keep them coming 😃👍
thank you my friend, I'm happy to hear that :)
It would be nice to mount a large group of your more elaborate bag seals in a large frame, and cover the frame sides in burlap.
As always, we LOVE your videos. Thanks for keeping us entertained!!! Congrats on the beautiful seal matrix. On my wish list as well.

thank you my friend! it's a great find but it's not easy to find out about it's owner. . imagine that in former times almost every merchant had a seal like that. . .
thank you for watching my videos :)

hans

Looks like a very promising field Hans!! I hope you can make a positive impression of the seal matrix. It appears to have a stag and maybe a pine tree? on it. The first unknown object is definitely the foot from a stand of some sort, jewelry box or clock stand maybe, obviously very old. GL&HH
hello brian :)
it definitely does and i can't wait to return there :) it will be a task to define the crest as we have hundred of thousans of crests of all sorts here in germany. . .its a jumping deer in front of a spruce or maypole. . .
you are right about the unknown object! it's definitely what you've said! thank you for watching, commenting and for telling me about the find!
best wishes, GL&HH! hans
Awsome matrix! Thats still on my wish list. Congrats! Well deserved!! =))

wow nice cool find you got there
starting 16th century, envelopes. Before sealing wax, the Romans used bitumen for this purpose.:)
hello :)
i'm soo happy about this find! it will be very interesting to find out about the origin of it! but it's not easy to define them!
thank you for watching and commenting!!!
best wishes, GL&HH! hans
Awesome matrix, man. That's one of the things on my list too.
Less trash in this hunt which is very promising. Great site.
GL&HH
hello richard :)
i'm so happy about this find! it was like a lightning going through my body when i saw the find in the hole!! this site is indeed very promising and i can't wait to go back there. . .you have to work hard for your finds and if you do this field will reward you :) thank you for watching, commenting and supporting!!! i keep my fingers crossed for you to find a matrix, too!
best wishes, GL&HH! hans
haha. . i hope not! too modern ;)
it's not easy to find people who are real seal experts. . .i'm still searching for someone to define the matrix for me. . .all i know is that there are hundreds of thousands of crests here in germany :D. . .you could be right with your guess about the age of the seal even though this kind and shape of seals have been in use for at least 200 years before the mid 1800s
GL&HH :)
Hello from Romania
Nice video
You have a new subscriber
Hope to see many beautiful finds :)
obererece hello!
thank you for watching, subscribing and for your kind words about my video :)
all the best,
hans
Thanks for all the hard work you put in to make such nice videos. I've watched them all and some a couple times. Very nice work.
I worry for you though because you don't wear a hat all that much and you are out in the fields so much exposed to the sun. Sun damages don't show up a lot until you get older then they can be a real problem. My suggestion would be to get a wide brim hat and even one that has a flap that can cover your neck. Take care Hans. You make the best metal detecting videos. Thanks again.
Mike
hello mike :)
thank you for watching, your kind words and compliments! it makes me very happy to hear that! especially the fact that you've watched some of my videos a couple of times! :)
thank you for your concern about my sun exposition. . .i use to apply a very strong sun blocker on my head, face, neck and arms when out detecting. . .thats why i'm still so pale and i never get sunburned :D but you are right! a hat would be even more effective!
thank you for being a faithful viewer of my channel! comments like yours are the fuel for me to keep on :)
best wishes, hans
Hi Hans, great stuff!
Love the seal matrix, well done.
Should be from the Saxony area, no? Don't have my book here so not sure, maybe town of Wildemann?
Very beautiful buckles, congrats! :-)
Best wishes, Lieven
hello lieven :)
i love the find, too! i always wanted to find one of these beauties! i really don't know the origin of the crest yet! i haven't got a book to look it up and the research in the internet is nearly impossible. . .i want to show it to somebody who might be able to help! if you have an idea i would appreciate your help, too!
thank you for watching my friend!!
best wishes, GL&HH! hans
Really good finds :) congrats.
congratulatory to the matrix. I have searched almost 10 years after that. nice finds, keep it up ;-)
hello matthias :)
thank you very much! good on you to find your matrix after 10 years. . .it took me 20 :D
thank you for watching and commenting!
best wishes, GL&HH! hans
I think the unknown object could be a leg and foot from a small doll that would had been joined to the bottom of the leg of a stuffed toy?
thank you for watching and for sharing your thoughts about the mystery item. sometimes containers like salt pots had foots like these too.
great finds hans its cool to get something on your wish list :-)
hello derek :)
thank you my friend! it is amazing if you think that it took me 20 years to find my first one of these wonderful relics!! can't wait to have it defined!
thank you for watching and commenting!
best wishes, GL&HH! hans
on top of my list is gold coin and gold or silver pocket watch with chain :-)
I was thinking the little leg might go to a fancy box like perhaps maybe a music box
that's what it has to be. thank you for watching and for sharing your thoughts about the find.
wow that matrix was really cool
glad you like it :) thank you for watching!
Great video Hans, superb seal matrix. You got a date on it yet? I found a silver one a while back which is with my FLO now. Great find! Great field! All the best my friend, HH, Rich.
hello rich :)
thank you my friend! all i found out until now is that it should be from the 17-18th century. . .it's very hard to find out about the owner, family or civic as we have houndreds of thousands different crests here in germany. . .i hope to be able to find out!! congrats on your silver one! great find! thank you for watching and for your kind words :)
best wishes, GL&HH! hans

Hello again - I have now watched all your videos and have enjoyed them all. So thank you for an excellent job. I have been detecting eight years and you have inspired me to maybe do the odd video myself!
hello :)
it's great that you watched all my videos and i'm happy that you enjoyed them! it's a big compliment for me that i inspired you to do videos yourself. . .thank you for watching and for your kind words!
GL&HH! hans
that first one that looks like a foot might be a foot for bowl. I've seen others similar in shape
that's what it has to be. the foot of a little bowl or jar. thank you for watching and for sharing your ideas my friend :)
all the best,
hans
When you find so many buttons and buckles on a field could it indicate much hand to hand combat in the area perhaps over several centuries?
It's battlefield ground but also military camping ground. It's hard to tell exactly what caused the loss of the items. fact is that in napoleonic times thousands of soldiers went through this area.
Thanks for the explanations, however I still want to clarify the lead seals.
It seems that they were a means of identification, for proof of ownership or were they just used instead of a cord or leather tie?
The European treasure hunter definitely has an advantage over the US as this country hasn't been settled by metal producing people for only a few hundred years.
Thanks
Hager
you're welcome!! bag seals have a very long history here in europe. . .they even date back to roman times 2000 years ago! it's not easy to define them sometimes as there is no real accessible data base to look them up. . .fortunately there are some guys here in germany who are specialized in defining bag seals!
bag seals were used to seal goods in bags so that the receiver had a guaranty that nobody opened the bag before. . .the seals had imprints of the bag content, manufacturer name, logos, crests, dates etc.
as far as i know there were also in use in the US!?
best wishes! hans
The first find looks the bottom of a horse leg with the hoof, I am thinking a toy horse.
hello clad queen :)
thank you for watching and commenting!!! yes you are right! it has to be something like that. either from a toy horse or from a little metal jar. . .
best wishes, GL&HH! hans
Button, button, who's got the botton? Hans does! Have you found out more about your matrix? It's a beauty.... Take Care now, Beste, Anna
+Anna M. Addison the matrix is a tough case. . almost every wealthier family and trader had one like that. . it's indeed a beautiful piece :)
all the best,
hans
Congratulations on the seal matrix! The buckles and the buttons are beautiful. Is that a stork in the background? Looks beautiful!
Yes, that was a stork. Storks are considered lucky in Germany and in this case the stork certainly delivered for Hans!
Have you ever come across a teller mine
I guess he’s not telling.
HH (Hager)

hello HH :)
welcome on my channel and thank you for subscribing and appreciating my videos!
lead bag seals have been used to seal bags of goods for example flour, fertilizer, sugar etc. they were widely used in former times and thats why it is the most common find on my sites.
the farmer has a 50% share of all the finds i make on his ground but in most of the things i find he isn't interested. we agreed that we will give all spubstantial finds to a local museum. the coins i have given to the archaeologists will go directly to the museum after they have been examined.
thank you for watching, commenting and for your kind words! please stay tuned :)
best wishes and greetings from germany,
hans

Looks like the leg from a small pot.
what happened to the blue toothbrush? i miss it!
+jeff barber hello jeff!
It snapped and I made a new one. . you can see it in my latest videos :)
thank you for watching!!!
all the best,
hans
The seal matrix has a date, stag running (courant), and a cedar tree. Jesus blessed the cedar trees. The Cedar is of great importance around the world here in America the Native Indian's see the tree as sacred. After a 4hour search. My guess is that it was a Jewish court persons Seal
thank you for the interesting comment!
First find looks like a little pot leg.
I think you are right about that! thank you for watching and for your helpful comment :)
Foot off a small bowl.
