    I think you’re right, the noise the Delta B717 makes does kind of sound like the sound the E-190 makes! I agree, Delta should also serve soft drinks! That was funny of what you did with the imaginary Seatback screen during the flight!

    Hawaiian also operates the 717 extensively inter island, and is another carrier in North America operating them. Ideal for the very short flights, and a very tough airframe that can take the amount of cycles they have daily.

    Delta not serving optional beverages is to protect their cabin crews and not a cost cutting measure.

    • @ITripReport
      @ITripReport  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately it is a cost cutting measure, if they wanted to protect their cabin crew they wouldn’t even serve beer/wine in first class, and as some FAs have told me, they’re not allowed to serve ice but they’re forced to carry it in case an executive asks for it. They also magically decided to make an exception to their seat blocking policy due to their own incompetence by selling middle seats in the 3 seater side. It doesn’t bother me, but when you spend a year saying a middle seat will kill you then you magically start selling them again, then yes, it was all a cost cutting measure

    Great video! Maybe you could add more specs about the plane but most avgeeks like ourselves know this anyway. I'm trying to book it on DL400 ATL-EWR but the A320 is used sometimes. I notice the 717 is being used on shorter flights, perhaps due to the fuel consumption. Oh, one thing no one shows on their videos are the overhead bins, all passengers want to know about that. The big letters are great on mobiles but they ruin the video, you should consider smaller type and speak. Just my 2 cents. Keep up the great work! ps Love that you include the entire take-off and landing.

    Kind of a theory, my reasoning maybe behind why they dont serve soft drinks is because on these shorter flights they have a tighter schedule, so if someone dropped their soda or spilled, it takes more time to clean than they already do due to covid. Another reason could just be cost cutting on these short flights which is most likely.

    Did you shoot this last week? I was at ATL on Saturday heading down to DAB and back early Tuesday morning. They changed all the digital overhead gate signs sometime between Saturday and Tuesday. Now the destinations for each gate is in HUGE HUGE fonts -- almost like highway exits. It's really a cool visual.

    You're 100% correct (IMHO) about the sad and shoddy inflight catering ... using the excuse of "COVID-19 safety". It's straight up just the U.S. carriers cutting costs. Isn't it interesting that many foreign airlines are providing nearly "normal" meal services, yet there is no "safety" compromise? It's also a scientific fact that the contagion vector of this (as with most) virus' is airborne, not suface/touch transmission. Back to DL/DAL though ... contemptible meal "amenities" and they *STILL* are charging premium fares!

    Your second time to HOU,previously flying that E-145 from Love Field,JSX it was! Have only flown the 717 once,on TWA STL-IAH approximately in 2000--do remember flying their DC9-30 IAH-STL and an MD-80 STL-ORD--have yet to fly DL's 717's--you looked scrunched up in your seat,so used to seeing you doing trip reports in either FC or business class--depending on your vaccination status,maybe its time for you to stretch your passport some and fly outside the US other than Mexico--are you taking some sort of law school class? Noticed on your laptop as you opened it up,a page about Chapter 11, "Conduct Invalidating Assent"

    Nice video, but you are incorrect about the soda issue. Delta does not pay for its soft drinks. It's all provided free by Coca Cola, in exchange for ads on napkins, cups and in inflight magazine and IFE. I think Delta sees some type of health risk with giving cups, or have its staff open the can or something. They are supposed to come back soon with smaller cans.
