    Im so hyped now for my trip Thursday from Little Rock to Atlanta on 717 then onward to Orlando on 757. Seat 20D though, however the engines always soothe me for some reason. Love it! Thank you for this video.

    Just completed a flight from ATL to BTV on a Delta 717. Overall a great flight.

      Can't go wrong with them! The last of the T-tails will stay strong for the next 5-8 years at least

    Love flying on this plane. Nothing nicer than the growling sound of those RR engines as they start up.

      We must cherish the last of the T-tail's while they are still around. While it ain't no MD-88, the engine roar is unique in its own way to this plane.

    Managed to fly on a 717 twice so far, both with Qantas in Australia in 2018/19. Last year I was supposed to fly on one in the US with Delta, but they changed the aircraft to a CRJ-900 sadly. I really hope I will get the chance to fly on one again, as I live in Europe and no airlines here have them in service anymore. Thanks for the video! The sounds really give me goosebumps, and memories of my own experience flying the 717! :D

    Funny enough, my first ever commercial flight was on an AirTran 717 from ROC to ORD for my senior trip in 2003. I’ll be flying the 717 again next month from BNA to DTW.

    Delta has the 717 on some longer flights like EWR - MSP, which usually takes about 2.5 hours. Personally I feel that Delta should have planes with IFE for a flight of that duration.

    Boeing 717s remind me of DC 9s and Fokker 100s due to the seating arrangements and engine sounds. I remember flying in a Boeing 717 a few times to Fort Lauderdale, FL on an AirTran flight back in 2011. I love old school aircrafts.

      I’ve flown these planes a few times under AT and DL colors now. Wish I videoed the AT experiences but I was a young lad back then

    • @djijspeakerguy4628
      @djijspeakerguy4628 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 717 is actually a re-engined DC9/MD80, if you can believe that. Of course, the cockpit is also much more modern. Boeing acquired the design when McDonnell Douglas merged with Boeing in August 1997. The original name of the 717 was the MD95. It’s a similar situation to how Bombardier’s C series became the Airbus A220.

    Great trip report. I like the hassle free trip out of DAB. I have flown on the 717-200 from HNL-OGG on Hawaiian, MCO-ATL-MCO on Air Tran and roundtrip JFK to MCO & TPA on Delta. The 717-200 was always a great flight. Thanks for posting your DAB-ATL trip report.

    I talked to the captain after a flight and asked about the retirement date for the 717 ,and he said 2030 because there is a engine backlog at Airbus so they are keeping the 717 in service longer.

      As an avgeek, row 26 is the money seat on the 717. The sounds of the engine are what we live for. But I can assure you it's perfectly safe to sit there, just a bit louder during takeoff and landing when the engine is at higher RPMs.

      @@FLLAviationspeak for yourself. I fly Delta everywhere, paying a bit more pretty often, and one key reason is the integrated IFE. I don’t want to watch my phone. I’m about to fly 2.5 hours on this jet and could have flown cheaper since im getting a basic experience. Step it up Delta.

    Out of curiosity, may I ask what’s your major? Fellow ERAU stud here! The MadPup is great, last iteration of the DC9 left. Sadly, Boeing prematurely ceased production, it could’ve been a great competitor to the A220-100 and E190-E2 in the 100 seat market. Now that’s why Boeing is lacking in the 100 seat market apart from the 757 market debacle after not having a replacement to it, losing to the A321XLR! Only time I’ve flown the Pup was in 2019 from Chicago.

      I'm a meteorology major at ERAU, currently wrapping up my 3rd year. I really wish the 717 did better as well, fun little plane to fly.

    • @austin.draude
      @austin.draude ปีที่แล้ว

      All Boeing has to do is make a few tweaks to the aerodynamics and probably re-engine the plane and it would be a perfect competitor to Airbus in the 110-seat market. Airbus needs some competition there.

    Nice vid....such a shame that the 717 is about the only thing left out there to hear those musical engine noises from, for the AV geeks lol. MDs, DC9s, 727s, etc., are all gone. They don't come my way so I might have to chase one down.

    it is a easy enough plane to fly . It had power. So unlike basic DC9 it didn't spend all its time climbing. I got to fly several that were show room new. Lost my medical in , 2004 on medical retirement. I have free passes on Southwest. But,strange to me I Cant say why .I havent rode as a pax or flew since my last time I flew the 717 May 04,2004.At the top of my career It ended.Im sad or any remorce .Grateful that with no military or college. raised in projects and trailer parks. I was proud for the opportunity. I got to fly the old aircraft dc-3s beach 18 and the commuters jet stream and then it was a modern age airplane so it covered a good span. After 18 years. Enough about me about the airplane I loved it it's a great airplane.
