Agreed. Wm24 was good, the draft was solid, a lot of experimental things like the scramble matches, WWEHD began, and of course the epic heel run of Chris Jericho

2016 was f‘n awesome! Styles carried SD! if it was TNA and the phenomenal midcard did the rest. RAW was carried by KO & Y2J but it worked. What a year!
2000 was definitely THE best year ever! Every single Raw and Smackdown was like a PPV, you did not want to miss it! Royal Rumble was epic, Backlash, Judgement Day, KOTR, No Mercy, Armageddon.... rarely did we have a PPV that was not brilliant to watch Plus this was the year where every single wrestler was given a chance to shine! You had groups like Too Cool who were so over that they were getting pops just a little lower level then The Rock or Stone Cold (when he came back)
Based on your list I'm an extremely lucky guy; cuz I started watching WWF in 1989 w/ the Warrior & macho Man but it was the G.O.A.T. himself, "The Showstopper" showing the world that HBK has got next & he'd soon be the massive superstar. I was addicted by 1992, every PLE was special but then at SummerSlam92; Repo Man vs. Crush went on right B4 Warrior vs Macho Man for the WWF Tittle. Macho Man & Warrior r both still a bit underrated in my opinion. I watched WWF/WWE until 2001 &based upon your list I only missed out on 2005 wrestling. Cuz 1996-2001 it was all about wrestling & I had the time of my life. I'm glad to see that I was investing in quality stuff
Simon, I know this is your list, but 1996 WWE sucked. It just did. No matter how positive you are, you cannot make a case at all that 1996 wasn't one of the worst years in WWF history. And it wasn't just because business was still down from 1994-95, but that's a main reason. Also, the fact that you didn't even mention 1984 really shows that your fandom only goes back but so far.
There's one more reason to love 2015. For all the ways wwe screwed this up, Sting in the company had its moments. All the run ins, all the distractions, the statue situation. For all the crap that fans went through with Sting, there's some gems too. Also 1999 was the year of Chyna in many ways. All the "first woman to..." accolades. Becoming IC champion. All of it.
Even though the summer of Punk era was actually bad. CM Punk winning at MITB 2011 is still a highlight. But honourable mentions 2021,2022,and well Simon covered it already 2023 and an underrated year was 2017

Lets look at the injury list of 2015, and all of them were injured at the same time - Rollins, Cena, Orton, Sting, Zayn, Neville, Cesaro, Tyson Kidd (was brilliant in the tag division that year), Wyatt, and of course Daniel Bryan. Apart from the injuries, Rusev and Ziggler were booked in a horrible storyline that lasted months. Nikki Bella was the Divas champion for almost the entire year. AJ Lee quit WWE. Wyatt jobbed to Undertaker throughout the year. Sheamus was an underwhelming MITB winner. Roman Reigns was repeatedly shoved on the audience and everyone was sick of it. The worst rumble match this side of the century was 2015. The tag division booking was atrocious after Kidd got injured. I remember giving up on WWE in 2015 and only started to watch again when AJ Styles debuted.

I know a lot of people hate the years 2018 and 2019 but I'm a big fan of it both. To me pro wrestling in general was at an all time high in 2018 and it got even better the following year. However this is about WWE so I'm just going to name a few reasons why WWE was good both years. 2018: For startes Asuka & Shinsuke Nakamura both won the Royal Rumble. Sure they both lost at WrestleMania but their a silver lining in each lost. It was genuinely shocking when Charlotte Flair retained and it genuinely shocking when Shinsuke Nakamura hit a low blow on AJ Styles. Speaking of WrestleMania 34, Ronda Rousey had an awesome debut match and Daniel Bryan had an awesome return match in 3 years. On top of that Bryan turned heel the same year, won the WWE Championship, called himself the Planets Champion with a cool custom belt, and had a great match against Brock Lesnar. And let's not forget Alexa Bliss & Braun Strowman both winning MITB with Alexa cashing in to become a 3 time Raw Women's Champion, Ronda Rousey beating her for the title and having a good reign, including the main event of an all women's PPV. Also Bobby Lashley returned to WWE after 10 years. And Becky Lynch became The Man thanks to a bloody nose. 2019: Becky Lynch won the Royal Rumble and defeated both Ronda Rousey & Charlotte Flair to become Becky 2 Belts, Kofi Mania was a thing, NXT beat Raw & Smackdown at Survivor Series, Rhea Ripley became NXT Women's Champion, Brock Lesnar had a Brock Party after winning MITB, and Roman Reigns came back from leukemia and wasn't immediately thrown back into the Universal Championship picture.
Imo WWE was pretty bad during those years. But 2015-2019 was good for wrestling outside of WWE. Peak NJPW, Indies boom, Lucha Underground, All In, AEW establishing. It happened in 1994-95 as well with AJPW, AJW, NJPW and ECW. It seems anytime WWE has not so good years, the wrestling industry will have good years.
Lockdown stuff was cool also. You had brock kill 15 people in the rumble and then drew went on to win. Then you had the start of the roman reigns era as well. All this with no crowd.
It was like they wanted to get everyone on the card, with a roster that stacked I don't blame them too much. It was also the first time a heel won the main event in a long time, which is a hard thing to sell. I think alot of people tend to pair it with Backlash that year. WM was kind of a warm-up for the rest of the year.
A very underrated and underappreciated year of WWE for me was 1983. I wasn't born during that time, but being the uber wrestling fan that I am, I took the opportunity to look up as much footage as possible from that time. That was the year that served as a preview to the madness fans would follow with Hulkamania and the years to come. Year 1983 had amazing "crazy good" content with the Jimmy Snuka and Don Muraco rivalry, the rise of world champion Iron Sheik and crazy personality managers like Captain Lou Albano.
On this, what about 1985? You had the first WrestleMania, the beginning of the Rock and Wrestling Era in turn, Saturday Night's Main Event debuting on NBC, hell even a little show called Prime Time Wrestling starting, all in 1985. I was somewhat surprised it didn't make the list here, even as an honorable mention. Was a huge year for WWE, one that changed everything for years after.
Roman Reigns is literally that guy and the biggest draw in the company since Cena. Also, Roman is technically the biggest draw in WWE history by default, as they've sold the most merch, most tickets, and have made the most money in any period of their history since 2021.
*I am massively disagree with 2015 being on the list. In my humble opinion, it’s one of the worst years in WWE history. Although it had its moments like WrestleMania 31, John Cena’s remarkable US Open Challenge, the rise of NXT and New Day were at the most entertaining during this time. Everything else was crap and here’s why…* - Year 1 of the Roman Reigns experiment (which would go on for 3 pissing years) - The Authority overstayed their welcome - Making Sting look like a complete joke - The disastrous Royal Rumble debacle - A spree of wrestlers getting injured - The Divas Revolution - Seth Rollins’ WWE title reign - The Dolph Ziggler/Lana/Rusev/Summer Rae storyline

2014 was amazing.
Lockdown stuff was cool also. You had brock kill 15 people in the rumble and then drew went on to win. Then you had the start of the roman reigns era as well. All this with no crowd.
The 2000 wrestlemania wasn't very good, it only had one singles match and of all matches possible at the time it was Terri Runnels vs The kat
The rest of PPVs and regular shows were so good that not even a normal/regular WM could overshadow that year.
It was like they wanted to get everyone on the card, with a roster that stacked I don't blame them too much. It was also the first time a heel won the main event in a long time, which is a hard thing to sell. I think alot of people tend to pair it with Backlash that year. WM was kind of a warm-up for the rest of the year.

Oh definitely. For those of us who gave up after the sh*t show that led up to 2022 and then coming back to this in 2023. What a pleasant surprise.

A very underrated and underappreciated year of WWE for me was 1983. I wasn't born during that time, but being the uber wrestling fan that I am, I took the opportunity to look up as much footage as possible from that time. That was the year that served as a preview to the madness fans would follow with Hulkamania and the years to come. Year 1983 had amazing "crazy good" content with the Jimmy Snuka and Don Muraco rivalry, the rise of world champion Iron Sheik and crazy personality managers like Captain Lou Albano.
On this, what about 1985? You had the first WrestleMania, the beginning of the Rock and Wrestling Era in turn, Saturday Night's Main Event debuting on NBC, hell even a little show called Prime Time Wrestling starting, all in 1985. I was somewhat surprised it didn't make the list here, even as an honorable mention. Was a huge year for WWE, one that changed everything for years after.
wwe doesn't have megastars that draw real money and get casuals to watch these days ....but wwe wants brand to be the megastar not the talent...

Roman Reigns is literally that guy and the biggest draw in the company since Cena.
Also, Roman is technically the biggest draw in WWE history by default, as they've sold the most merch, most tickets, and have made the most money in any period of their history since 2021.

*I am massively disagree with 2015 being on the list. In my humble opinion, it’s one of the worst years in WWE history. Although it had its moments like WrestleMania 31, John Cena’s remarkable US Open Challenge, the rise of NXT and New Day were at the most entertaining during this time. Everything else was crap and here’s why…*
- Year 1 of the Roman Reigns experiment (which would go on for 3 pissing years)
- The Authority overstayed their welcome
- Making Sting look like a complete joke
- The disastrous Royal Rumble debacle
- A spree of wrestlers getting injured
- The Divas Revolution
- Seth Rollins’ WWE title reign
- The Dolph Ziggler/Lana/Rusev/Summer Rae storyline
My favorite year was 1999, they could have ended it after Jericho's debut, and said "ok guys, that was our grand finale, we're done here, let's wrap it up"..
His debut was terrible
@@rayfinkel4434 that one of the greatest build up, pay offs, and debut promos. Jericho went toe to toe with the Rock and survived. Still a living legend.
