We really need side-by-side comparisons. How do they look next to each other? How do they each pull from 0-60, etc. These will make the reviews awesome.

We would love that as well but we would be doing a lot less comparisons if we waited to get both of these at the same time. The Sportage gas model is no longer available to us at this time. So there would be no review today.

The resale values on CRV’s and Rav 4 are out of this world. Definitely not cheap but in the end run you get what you pay for. Kia and Hyundai sure gives you initial bang for the buck but with their numerous reliability and dealership experience issues you are gambling and the odds suck. My choice out the two would be the Honda but if it was my money I’d get the RDX. Worth every penny.

I didn't drive the Sportage yet but I drove the 2020 Accord and CRV for months, both with the 1,5 l and CVT configuration and it's a world of difference. I don't like CVT's because it is a lazy transmission but it's worst in the CRV. It is slow and sluggish and the 1,5 l is noisy (not as in the RAV4 !!) and not enough powerful when the family is on board. The CRV would definitely be better served with the Accord 2,0 l and the 10 speed transmission. The 2023 CRV is very similar to the previous version (no more panoramic sunroof) but it's much more expensive. So why not going to the Sportage ?

Honda still has problems with their 1.5 turbo. They are facing a potential class action lawsuit in the states over the continued oil dilution.
The base model looks good but it’s overpriced. The Kia looks cool but realistically, if Samsung and apple stop updating their smartphones after five years what makes people think car manufacturers will continue updating their software in ten years?
I am considering a Kia sportage, but a 2019/2020 base model since I can replace the infotainment screen with a non touchscreen and disable the backup camera, since that is $2000 Canadian to replace when it fails. Mazda was going to charge me that to replace the buggy touchscreen in my 2015 mazda3

I mention because in the Honda Pricing of $43,390 mentioned the freight on this vehicle is AGAIN NOT INCLUDED, for an additional whopping $1950. Then add in Canada PST & GST and this Honda comes in at OVER $50,000!

Given CR-V is one of the pioneers of compact SUVs, along with RAV4 and Forester, they don't need to be revolutionary to be successful. Evolutionary is more important in keeping with its existing customer base. As well as Honda's higher brand equity. Sportage needs to be revolutionary, in order to be a conquest brand and keeping its existing customer base. Sportage wins, on feature content and bold styling. While CR-V is more of a conservative move with fewer standard features. I actually like this generation of CR-V more than the previous generation. Given I am a Honda fans. I'm directly comparing these two in Hybrid. I'm mostly interested in the power rather than MPG advantage over the gas models. I like the Sportage exterior look a lot more. I like the Sportage interior better although not the piano black. Kia would give me more features for less money as well. Although panoramic sunroof is extra on the Sportage. I get the feeling that the CRV is more refined but I'll be test driving them to see if that's actually true.

And I would get the Rogue AWD with leather instead of the Sportage due to the KIA Boys massive car theft ring here in America.

@@deman19901 I will take my cheap 2011 Mazda CX-7 without a sunroof, heated seats, power seats, and touchscreen and take simple, easy to fix, reliable transportation over a $70,000 POS that spends more time in a shop getting fixed than being on the road. I will give you an example of why a $70,000 POS is nothing more than overpriced POS.
That TH-cam guy Autovlog had a C63 AMG the old 6.2 V8. Because of their retarded way of engineering and designing it, AMG engineers put the intake tube inlets under the car. Stupid drove through a puddle. Water got sucked up into the engine and hydro locked it. His insurance was not going to spend $70,000 on a new motor, so they totalled it and cut him a cheque.
Who in their right minds sticks air inlet tubes underneath a car?! German cars are crap, I would never lower my standards for overpriced garbage that won’t be on the road in ten years. The Japanese on the other hand, yes. Last year I found. 2012-ish Lexus LS600 hybrid with 700,000 kms on it being sold by a Lexus dealership, with ALL service records for $10,000. I would take that since it’s nothing but a Toyota underneath.
So yes, give me my cheap to own-$90 a month on insurance-2011 Mazda CX-7, which has been an absolutely reliable suv, and I look forward to other cheap to own, cheap to run, no frills suvs and they will run circles around your hoity toity pompous ass overpriced paperweight.
And can your luxury POS come out of a garage after service with a bill under $200? Or a full brake job for under $1000? I will take that money I save at the garage and put it towards my house thank you. A car is never going to be worth more than a house, so why even bother?
