Lily Reynolds builds a bold case for radically regulating vaping. She shares her lessons from passing local policies for adults to keep vaping out of the lungs of youth in Eagle, Pitkin, Summit, Breckenridge Counties in Western Colorado. She invites kids who need to quit the most to power up their own healthy choices and model that for their friends and family. Lilly Reynolds has been a resident of Eagle County for her whole life. She started her advocacy work in her sophomore year of high school, first focusing on mental health and how to better connect youth to mental health resources. She soon began her work with tobacco policy to protect local youth in Avon. After the town of Avon passed their Tobacco21 initiatives, the movement quickly spread throughout the region. Lilly has testified in front of multiple towns, counties, and at the state level to advocate for limiting youth access to addictive products and hopes to inspire others to start their own advocacy journeys. She plans to continue helping her peers, now at the cessation level through her internship with Public Health. Lilly hopes to go to college in the field of public health or public policy and continue to be the change she wishes to see in the world. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Showing a vaping device from 2013, and misinformation that was concocted about that long ago in your TedxYouth talk isn't very smart. The only fact you got right is, "Big Tobacco wants you to smoke". The problem is they don't care if the vapor industry goes away, even though it's a 95% harm reduction compared to combustible tobacco.

Yes, cigarettes/vapes and other nicotine products are a severe ongoing health crisis in most nations regardless of wealth.
Great to see the next generation pointing that out after they have been normalized along with alcohol and caffeine.
You have a gift for speaking, young woman. Keep it up!

So someone brakes in and steals and the problem with them is that they have access to the harmful substances.

One obvious downside to making vaping less accessible is that it makes it harder for people to switch from smoking to vaping, a switch which I believe has a large health benefit. I wish she had explored the trade-offs around this some more.

There's No Way Of Being Able To Say That With 100% Certainty/Confidence. Vaping Has Only Been Around About A Decade & A Half. About 6-7 Years Ago; Everyone Was Saying How There Doesn't Appear To Be Any Negative Health Consequences & It Was "Better For You Than Smoking Cigarettes"...A Few Years Later, We Began Noticing The Uptake In "Popcorn Lung" In Those Who Vape. Until We Know The Longterm Health Consequences; It's Best To Not Advocate Trading One Damaging Thing For Something That Might Be Or Might Not Be As Damaging-Who Knows.....

Tell me you know NOTHING about the vape industry while standing on a stage that offers a global audience. Way to spread those lies Lilly. Literally 2 minutes into your presentation it was obvious you did no real research before taking the stage.
