i will die on the hill with pride that TPS is my favourite Borderlands game, the amount of lore it added/filled into the series + the gameplay was just so so fun. it just became cool to hate on TPS and at first i fell for it too but after playing it multiple times as a gladiator class i am truly in love with it
I love Presequel story. Laser guns and jump boosts in low gravity were so fun. Sadly we never saw it's other dlcs which had very interesting concept art.
I really liked Pre-Sequel. I think I put more hours into it, I thought the map settings were gorgeous and I love the laser guns and I thought freeze was a cool addition
I actually made a Borderlands mod for Star Wars Battlefront II 2005 that's mostly based on The Pre-Sequel, you should play it! It's called Borderfronts. I even remade the claptastic voyage boss battle
TPS has better desgined skill trees than BL2 but much of the game just feels like an endless sequence of floaty jumps through similar looking landscapes while in BL 2 every area feels unique also the endgame of BL2 is second to none in the series overall i prefer 2
TPS would have been equal or better than BL2 if they just gave us the DLC’s they were developing. I think the community should take a portion of the responsibility for abandoning it and going back to 2 or rejecting it because of the “moon gravity” or other dumb reasons. It would have been more supported if it was more well received. It did get a “second wind” after being included in the Handsome Collection. Claptrap DLC is still my favorite of any BL game. Bl2>BL_TPS>BL1>BL3.
I also love Pre-sequel more than BL2. Well... That was small lie. At their current state without mods I like them both as much as the other. If only Pre-sequel had more Endgame content. I don't need Raid bosses. I never enjoyed them, but more Slaughter shafts and DLC campaigns (because the one we got was awesome), then I would love better level scalling. Instead of making huge gaps between main mission levels, it would be better to just either gain xp faster or get from missions more xp then how is now. And finally more dedicated drops. I love the grinding and I miss it in BL3, but I would love if instead of like 80% of legendary gear being accessible just by Grinder and only 20% having dedicated drops I would love it the other way around. But I am not hating on Pre-sequel. It has for me the best vaulthunters in series, I enjoy the story more then in BL2(although main villain is not that good), laser weapons and jetpack were also great.
100% I get ya, the game has flaws. Borderlands 2 undeniably has more content in it. I also felt the exp gap in the pre sequel, honestly not enough missions and enemies other than Iwajima and the guardians in the pokemon side quest that give a good amount of exp to get to lv70 fast. So much potential but sadly the game was dropped before it had a proper chance.
I played TPS before 2, and it was a slog to get through 2 as a result. The movement and maps were way more fun to me in TPS. TPS had better skill trees as well, and the unique dialog per character gave more replayability. The main thing that TPS seemed to lack vs 2 is end game content, and I never really cared that much for leveling up really high and farming for equipment.
Spot-on with everything man. I have more hours on 2, because of the add-ons. However, TPS is catching up. I'll run a new character in the PS whenever I get a bit stale on the other games I play. And of late, I've been thrashing the PS heaps. You have so many options with the weapons and they nailed it with the environment. Great review and you gotta new sub.
Nisha let you play Red Dead Redemption in Borderlands and made Jacobs weapons beastly. She was a breath of fresh air after hating slag requirements on harder difficulties in BL2.
Traversing the maps in TPS was uber satisfying because the low gravity made me feel more super human. I did not understand why it was hated so much on release. Plus, cryo weapons were so fun to use, especially on jumping enemies because watching them fall and shatter slowly was a treat every time! Love TPS!
Pre Sequel had fun new weapons and mechanics but it was plagued by 2K Australia being closed and one piece of DLC being cancelled and we got an arena piece of DLC and one good piece of DLC. Oh. And patches with bosses and mini bosses respawning came in WAAAAAAAY too late.
I defs agree, by the time the dlc and much needed changes came most of my friends playing it had already stopped and moved on to destiny. I was one of the only ones still playing it then. But at the end of the day its still a much better game now than it was at launch as all borderlands games are after a few years.
I enjoyed the pre sequel a little more tbh. Everytime i go back to bl2 it just feels so slow by comparison. Bl2 wins content wise though. Theyre usually bundled together at this point anyways so it doesn't really matter
I can't personally say that the Pre Sequel is better than BL2 2. It just doesn't have the scope or wealth of extra content that BL2 has. That being said...the Pre-Sequel is EXTREMELY underrated. It's definitely a ton of fun, and well worth playing, even replaying. If you love Borderlands 2, you're going to at least enjoy the Pre-Sequel.
While I do agree with the view I do have to say that if pre-sequel had more support, or anywhere near as close as 2/3 i fear it's UVHM might of suffered a similar fate as it's not that far off from 2 release wise. But maybe cyro alone could of fixed the plague of the OP levels. Hopefully somewhere in 4 we will have a cyber space DLC as i can't really see a whole game having it but just like pre-sequel a singular addition.
i totally agree with your opinions mainly the TERRIBLE END-GAME balance. My god UVHM was utter cancer for me not to mention the OP levels which makes me wanna stop playing the game all altogether and that i did. Even with the mods that makes the BL2's UVHM more balanced i just couldn't bother on playing the game anymore because i have gotten so use of the meta and always using slag. nowadays if i wanna play borderlands i would either play BL1 or BL:TPS. i don't have BL3 hence i didn't mention it for those who were curious.
im just saying, if you can get past the awful story of bl3, its by far the best endgame, you dont need any exterior damage, (cryo, slag, etc) its very good fun
as a predominantly TPS player myself, i'd argue that TPS is generally harder, but you have more control which lets good players do more i also love how TPS has a proper emdgame in the form of the arena inside claptrap unlike BL2 which was just "fight bad raid boss endlessly"
the main thing i hate about tps is the stupid level balancing. the story has less missions than in bl2, but the level you should be after the story is still the same, so they put huge level gaps between the main story missions. i had to do all the sidequests from the base game and 4 holodomes just to be on-level for the dlc also, most good weapons were obtainable from shadow-tp or eos, and because eos has a ten times higher drop chance on the story kill and shadow-tp is a one time kill, you have to read-only farm both
I agree with this, definitely a grind leveling up especially if you don't have other players to help farm exp on the Pokémon side quest and farming was awkward. Not a perfect game but still my fav of the series.
Main reason Pre Sequel is my favorite is that it actually feels and looks like you're in space. O2, low gravity, starry skies, floating stingray vehicles, atmosphere versus vacuum affecting fire differently... But mainly for me the feeling of almost being able to fly... The low gravity is just mind-blowingly awesome to me ❤❤❤ i just play to fly through the air sometimes and feel the euphoria
People cry that it's too short, but I look at it as being a very long expansion. Even without that being said, it's longer than any shooter that would come out by today's standards.
unrelated to 2 or tps but from the hyperius clip… the way health bars tick down is way more satisfying to me in 3… like how the white part stacks up if you do enough dmg at once
idk what it is with BL2, but even before I clocked over 250h on it (and counting), I struggle to get into TPS and especially BL3. I do want to play TPS despite its lack of a proper, fleshed out endgame, but idk... there's just something about BL2's Pandora and its vast array of content that keeps pulling me back. I've been playing it on and off for six years or so and I still haven't played through all the DLC (partially because I didn't want to struggle much going into TVHM and after that, UVHM). I did just install TPS on my Steam Deck and intend to give it yet another shot. I do absolutely love the intro in Helios, though. Much better intro than BL2's.
This is a fantastic comparison and totally agree with you. For me it's really hard to pick a favourite. I think the combat is far superior in PSeq and really makes you think rather than use trusted stuff like in BL2. But then the atmospherics of BL2's DLC were staggeringly good especially Tina's and Hammerlocks. It made you feel like you were there akin to Fable's atmospherics. That said the Claptrap DLC from PSeq was incredible too (even customising Arena matches to suit your skill level; the higher the difficulty chosen.... the better the loot). There's more guns in BL2 but then you have experimentation with the Grinder in PSeq.....once you jump around in zero gravity its hard to go back....in a sense I'm glad Pre Seq FOLLOWED BL2. It wouldn't have worked the other way around....I'm gonna say I like both games equally and feel people should play both. Like all great games, the more time you invest, the more you realise just how complex the game mechanics are....that aren't evident when first playing the game....
The only thing I realy REALY hate about this game, aside of the redcons is, the god awful jump sections, when one has to jump over cliffs with vehicles, I can't even tell you how often I died due to landing weirdly and therefore getting pushed into the cliff or other bs. Also a thing wich annoyed by all BL's is, ever since BL1 they force you to explore, but most of the time when you actually do it, you die by falling throu fake mesh. The worst decision ever to include "Search and find" things in BL, ffing Vault symboles
For me, the tier list for Borderlands is: presequel --> 3 (even with one of the worst character in the series, but I really love the maps, the gameplay and missions) --> 2 (even with the best story and characters, but the gameplay is very slow, Pandora's environment is unattractive for me and the side missions are very boring in general) --> 1 (obvious reasons)
Perfectly pinpointed my gripes with BL2, I only sunk around 30 hours into the game but the problem is that you constantly need to stop, farm for some level appropriate shit, and continue playing
my opinion is that the Pre-sequel is not better. the main thing is the story, it is much more involved in the second one than it is the pre-sequel. (not to offend pre sequel fans)
7:40 while true, using glitches is like cheating. Yes you win easily with Sal, but what's the point? That said, even without glitches Salvador is the strongest one indeed. But I also disagree that others can't have different builds and playstyles viable. Otherwise good video, I also love TPS, quite underrated game in general.
heres my biggest issue, and really only issue with tps, the missions are kind of shit, at least the first half, it always boils down to making what should be a easy task into a needlessly long and painful adventure, thats what kills the replayability to me, it just annoys me
that Janey Springs Lazer missions would be a great example. It was so much of a chore that I really felt Torgue's insertion in the end basically saved it from being scrapped from development.
Wouldn't it be amazing if all the planned stuff for bltps got taken up and some dlcs got released? The game still has life in it and would reopen the game back up to a lot of people. No idea how it works about buying the rights but would be cool imo.
It really speaks volumes how much end game matters in this series when that is almost the only thing BL2 does better than TPS, but the public perception is that BL2 is the best and TPS is not great. TPS will always be my favourite. Such an amazing game.
I feel the pre sequel was the easiest borderlands but still a very fun game I actually have been playing through this one and borderlands 3 on my steam deck recently
pre sequel had no endgame- gameplaywise pre sequel was insanely more fun tho. Because in BL1 - gunzerker salvador being just that much stronger than any other class - that means that unless I was fucking around with pimpernel and the other fibber gun with gaige I just had no reason to not play Gunzerker. Because gunzerker could slag heal with grognozzle and at the same time dps anyone to death with interfacer or unkempt herold. So pre sequel had no endgame but BL2 OP endgame was also so god damn boring. I never went past op 1-2 because its just challenge for the sake of challenge.
it really sucks that sal is just so many leagues above the rest of the vault hunters, and even on sal op10 can be just a slog, id never recommend going to op10 to anyone, get to lvl 80, make a build off that, and leave it at that, the op levels were a mistake, imo the only borderlands game with a real endgame is bl3, its not a pain on any character, so many weapons are viable, and its all around good fun with a fair share of content
Never played it but the talent trees are 100 times better than borderlands 2. borderlands 2 talents felt like you are playing a tf2 character with very unusual non straight forward playstyle each. but the pre sequel talents are much more straight forward and much more powerfull. thats why i will try the game out now
i’ve never been able to like tps it’s just so boring in my brain for no reason the whole game feels like a slog to get through and the level scaling is just awful because all the xp you get is bread crumbs after level 12
I have to respectfully disagree. While it certainly looks better visually, navigating areas is an absolute nightmare with all the verticality. It’s decent but definitely not better than 2.
I dont like grinding or the high level endgame so a lot of these things dont apply. I think the Pre-Sequel is a great borderlands game with many well done features and additions. I understand that it didnt reach the same love because of hiw samey it is to the second game, which at launch made the game feel less interesting and special than when BL2 came out. But we might have overcome that. To me what does it is the setting. I dont like space and sci-fi, the Pre-Sequel had too much of that for me. I didn't like looking or being in the world, its just not my thing snd the whole game is moon or space station, which is awesome for those who like it, but for me its just the opposite. BL1 had my favorite setting and I am glad the franchise is so varied because there is a lot to choose from for so many players
Decent game. I like the story, and the characters are fun to play with, but some of the dedicated drops are questionable at best. It should get a remake just to fix all of the unnecessary bugs (and so that one unfinished DLC can be playable).
TPS takes way to long to get going, I finished it when it came out, but can’t get past hour 7. It too slow moving, and it didn’t make me care about what’s going on. BL2 gets and stays with a sense of urgency until it’s done. Also Sal isn’t broken at all, stop using TH-cam to play a game and just play. Sal has a lot of give and take. If you’re actually good at the game and not just glitching and meta each VH has their advantages and challenges. Also weapons like the sand hawk grog pimpernel aren’t legendary but kicks ass. Same with the gub lady fist. The laudaux. Too many players blame the game when in reality they went online and coped someone else build, and wonder why they don’t have their experience. Only reason you can say that about tps is because it barely had anyone online posting builds and glitches
I only clicked on this video to tell you that you are objectively wrong, theres legit nothing you could say to back up such a wild claim, and i dont mean this in any kind of a mean way, but dude it just simply isnt even about opinions, pre sequel didnt even have designated drops, enough said.
Before I clicked on this video I knew it would be some "BL2 is unbalanced and only 3 guns are viable at OP10" brain rot. No, you're just bad at theorycrafting if you can't put together a build without the Sham, Bee or Harold. You can make almost any weapon work. Maybe not on OP10 but you still have a large amount of good weapons at your disposal like the Butcher, Bekah, Kitten, KerBlaster (if you're playing Krieg or Axton) and even some regular purple weapons and more. Also, I wouldn't call the Rosie and Vibra Pulse "outstanding" weapons. Glitched Maliwan Splitters outperform them by a large margin.
Honestly, if pre sequel had as much content as BL2 i think id play it more than 2 and i think the community would say its the best
Once you get used to better and faster movement it's hard to go back. The low gravity air boost and buttslams are a game changer for me
Honestly, its soo slow and linear going back to Borderlands 2 after.
Same
In other words, you’re all saying that you got addicted to the low gravity, double jump & slam abilities, right?

100% its so good, didn't help that destiny came out around same time which further made it not get the love it needed.
Same. Deserves more love
it is because of the lasers man, bl2 guns fort me feels unprecise and all over the place while lasers are such a cool addition to the game...
I love Presequel story. Laser guns and jump boosts in low gravity were so fun. Sadly we never saw it's other dlcs which had very interesting concept art.
Honestly one of the biggest missed opportunities of the borderlands franchise
💯
Claptastic voyage ❤
Liked how the characters actually addressed your character instead of calling you Vault Hunter, also UVHM is more doable than in Bl2
100%
Yes
“You saved my life! What’s your name?”
“I am Amara, the Tiger of Partali.”
“Ok vault hunter.”
I really liked Pre-Sequel. I think I put more hours into it, I thought the map settings were gorgeous and I love the laser guns and I thought freeze was a cool addition
100% same here. Was soo hard going back to borderlands 2 after pre sequel coz it felt so basic without those features.
I actually made a Borderlands mod for Star Wars Battlefront II 2005 that's mostly based on The Pre-Sequel, you should play it! It's called Borderfronts. I even remade the claptastic voyage boss battle

The Pre Sequel technically does have slag weapons, just not ones the player can use. Some of the guardians in Eleseer have slag attacks.
I hope gearbox may come back to do one last hoorah like they did with Commander Lillith for BL2
Honestly same, we need that unfinished dlc they never released.

Only thing i hate with the Pre-Sequel is the oxygen timer mechanics.
Skip that and its straight up better
Is there an option to turn off those annoying numbers
I think there is on the hud settings not 100% sure where exactly
@@Hero_of_Sinnoh do you know if it's the same for the other borderlands games
@@MrTripcore I think borderlands 2 and 3 have a similar setting, not sure bout 1 or wonderlands
@@Hero_of_Sinnoh ok thanks
Last time when Borderlands was great...
Three raid bosses, and two endgame arenas. Way less than 2 has but a decent amount of postgame content
I feel the pre sequel was the easiest borderlands but still a very fun game I actually have been playing through this one and borderlands 3 on my steam deck recently
Thats so good, portable is such a fun way to play borderlands.
pre sequel had no endgame- gameplaywise pre sequel was insanely more fun tho.
No it wasn't
I have to respectfully disagree. While it certainly looks better visually, navigating areas is an absolute nightmare with all the verticality. It’s decent but definitely not better than 2.
I'm having fun in TPS. I like Hammerlock!
Pre sequel is like a second home to me
Decent game. I like the story, and the characters are fun to play with, but some of the dedicated drops are questionable at best. It should get a remake just to fix all of the unnecessary bugs (and so that one unfinished DLC can be playable).
I love tps and still play it today and quote it all the time
I love TPS
Its been my favorite since I played it on day one
I don't care about boss farming lol
I liked playing the vault hunter craig
Craig 😭
Absolutely! I agree
I only clicked on this video to tell you that you are objectively wrong, theres legit nothing you could say to back up such a wild claim, and i dont mean this in any kind of a mean way, but dude it just simply isnt even about opinions, pre sequel didnt even have designated drops, enough said.
What are you yapping about.
Enemy level scaling, quest level scaling, op skill trees, autoaim skills, op lasers through out story. Thoose are heavely dislikeble in tps.
So when is the rocket league review coming?
Not a bad idea 😉
Nah ur coping
Bl2 is better but tps could of passed it if it had more content
I thought I was playing it wrong ! OP10 is just stupid. Literally can only spawn for like 30 seconds aaaaaaand your dead 😂
Don’t be silly
Dont agree but still a good game
So true
honestly yeah
Glitched Maliwan Splitters outperform them by a large margin.
its not that things arent "viable" its just a pain to use them, you have to be sweating your ass off to have any fun on op10
I love borderlands the pre sequel
agreed
YES
Not even close

Nah

You're an Aussie. Of course you'd say that! 😂
It was enjoyable though...
