It's so nice to see you... you are a nice guy. Take care and god bless
Thanks Chris.
Love the scenery
Thanks Rachel
Fantastic, thanks for sharing.
Thanks Andre
I was an owner/operator in the States for almost 40 years. I mostly did oil field service. I always wanted to visit Australia and take a trip with a road train driver.
Maybe you'll have to get this in motion. We usually only regret things in life that we didn't do.
Love your work and well done, a lot of newer drivers wont have the mechanical aptitude you hold- you would make an awesome trainer.
Yes. Thanks. It's a pity that a lot of divers are losing the ability to fix anything. Did you also know that many big companies don't allow divers to touch the truck if something goes wrong. They have to wait for a mechanic to come.
Great work mate
Thanks Daniel.
You are so lucky to have such a fantastic job, I wish I were young again but yep I had my time of 30 years with 2 years Road Train Car Carrier Bris' to Darwin but now still out on the highways working with the truckies.
Sounds like you've still got it though.
Yeh, I can still 1100 K's in a day.@@RoadTrainAdventures
@@dougtilley5977 that's very good
👍
I do love the more in-depth videos. Great work.
Thanks Stefan. I'm trying to make more videos like this but some trips just don't allow for it.
Awesome job
Thanks Jess
Great video, but can you point the camera up a bit when it’s fixed to the windscreen?
Yes. That was a mistake that I didn't pick up until I saw the footage. That won't happen again.
Great stuff
Thanks Jonathan
Much appreciated Johnno 👍 you always make us a update about Australia beautiful land. Stay have have a wonderful journey.
Respect from Pakistan
Thanks heaps.
Great videos , keep up the good work drive safe
Thanks Gary
I’d love to see a detailed description on the operation of the eaton road ranger gearbox. The shift pattern, the range and split selectors, clutch operation, etc. That would be awesome. 👍👍
Thanks Charlie. OK I'll keep that in mind and make a video on how I change gears.
You are a credit to the industry mate.
Our industry is being over ridden with cowboy's,not many of which can speak English.
Its a dam shame.
Keep the shiny side up 🤙
Yes I hear you. I really wonder how long it will be before it gets better.
@@RoadTrainAdventures it hurts me to say that I don't see it getting any better. I'm leaving the east coast and giving up my Cairns to Melbourne run, going to head out west where you are and give it a go for a while.
Might see you on the road mate 🤙
I'm mainly on the east now living in Melbourne but I'll be all over the place so yes I may see you.
Very good
Thanks Jonathan
The hill work was done very well Johnno mate...
Thanks Raymond. All in a days work.
Great upload johnno, the explanation of different driving scenarios is great to see. Keep this awesome content coming . 🇦🇺 👌
Thanks Rick. I sure will.
That new motor looks to be going well hanging on in the top box up that hill, enjoying the video's cheers.
Thanks Steven yes it's going really well.
That's a reel good load Johnno
Great stuff. Thanks Doug
Jono a bit of Constructive Criticism, could you put your go pro a bit lower on your windscreen. All we’re seeing is bonnet. Thanks mate keep up the good work & happy new year 👍👍
Yes sorry. That was a mistake that I will not make again.
Hey mate all the best for the new year.
Are you able to roll the camera up abit so we see abit more of the road and not so much bonnet if possible.
Love your video's.
Stay safe out there.
Ha ha yer I was thinking that as well . Hopefully he can
I love to see the long bonnet 😊
Yes. That was a mistake that I didn't pick up until I saw the footage. That won't happen again.
👍
Ha ha
Thanks for the video John, uphill and downhill is very interesting, I admire the manual transmissions of the US-Trucks. In Europe nowadays only have automatic transmission. Years ago I drove manual transmission too, but never a Fuller-Eaton. I'd like do test one time a Fuller-Eaton. Many thanks for the video and stay safe 😊👍💪
Yes too much auto. I know a lot of people like them but I don't.
👍👍👍👍
👍 Thanks Alan
Pumping out the content Johnno ! 👍
Thanks Virgil but these are repeats of videos I made during the year whilst in on holidays.
Nice one Johnno . Much appreciated how you show where you are going on the screenshot of goggle maps. 👍
Thanks John. I just need to remember to add the maps in each video.
Too much bonnet & not enough View 🤣😂
You are just used to pug faced trucks. Diversity improves the world!
Yes. Need better camara angel
Yes this was a mistake that I didn't pick up until I saw the footage. Not including it would have been worse though.
Yes. A mistake that will not happen again.
👍 love from 🇱🇰 Sri Lanka
Between 12 and 1800 for the better power of the enginbrake, the pulling power and feul consuption. It is a cummins. Somthimes i needed to go up to 2100 than changing gears. That was how steep and long the hill and heavy the load. Slippery or snow roads need les,Around 900 to 1500,ore very slippery, les than 1500. Else the wheels going to spin, than you lost power and the moment of gear changing. The skills and technics. Sure it was 1 thing i loved. Its stil all between my ears. whell. Maybe thats all there is in it. 😅😅
Very good information. I normally rev between 1300 and 1700.
@@RoadTrainAdventures As you say it is the best. Its like a game. You know. Somthimes you go up to 2000 ore somthing,to skip a split gear,or compleet gear to let it fall down to example 1000 or 1100. Than hear the cummins roar. lol. It all depends on the road and load and HP thats in it. And in your case also the heat of the weather. Every time whe shift gear,it takes more fuel consumption. Most the times when i was empty with flatbed ore curtenside trailer, i drove 4-6-7-8 gear. Could do that with 400HP. Than its fast like a racing car. And you are quicker at top speed.Wits means at that moment it takes less fuel becose it dont have to pull up no more. But your semi and equipment is a few ton more heavy and 2 trailers most the times. At least its more fun than automatic. And automatic isnt good when you almost, ore get stuck in mud. When whe get stuck, whe can very quickly shift gear forward and back wards,to try move the semi. Wit automatic your cant do nothing.
Yeah for sure. I hear hear you.
So I'm actually with Ken again from the Homeless Trucky. Having lunch in Melbourne.
@@RoadTrainAdventures Very good. Great him for me will you? Ken is also a top trucky. Always counting the ours and what to do with them. He's happy with his new KW. cheers guys. have fun.
Well do
Think Mack!
I'm not really into Mack. I must admit I haven't only driven one though. Maybe I would if I had a new one.
Oh to be a Road Train driver travelling the land. Will send you a PM tomorrow just so you know
OK. I'll watch out for it.
I hope you have safe new year Johnno
Thanks Daryle. You have a great new year too.
Nice 👍
Thanks again Eric.
More sky... less bonnet !
Yes. That was a mistake that I didn't pick up until I saw the footage. That won't happen again.
That was good going up the hill and a stunning part of the world, what age is your truck?
My truck is getting old as a 2011
Nice video. In Europe we have a digtal system in the truck wat register the driving and sleeping hours. You got this also in Australië? Greatings from Holland
Our company uses the electric work diary now but I like it's better. We can at least dodgy things up a bit to fit in our day better.
Olex in Lilydale for the first pick up?
You got it
Up it big gear jammer
👍
Stick your camera on the top of the passenger seat
Because the bonnet is tiresome
Yeah that was a mistake that I will not make again.
From start to finish how long did it take to tie down the load??
Maybe 25 minutes for the trailer you saw me last load but want an hour for the other one.
Please explain principle of your engine brake some future video, is it magnetic disks?
(Angle up camera during top of cabin view to include horizon)
At the top of the compression stroke, the exhaust valves are opened releasing the pressure. This wastes all the energy used to compress the air. That energy has to come from somewhere and in this case it comes from the crank, which in turn gets it from the wheels via the drivetrain, thereby slowing the truck. The Cummins Intebrake uses this method, as does the Jacobs ("Jake") brake.
Yes. That was a mistake that I didn't pick up until I saw the footage. That won't happen again.
Very good
It would be helpful for travellers to know your favourite roadhouses and rest areas along the route. You don’t stop much.
When we were kids dad would take the five of us on the summer holiday crossings in the beetle and EH, no such thing as aircon comfort. Dirt road from port Augusta to Norseman. It’s so different these days.
Thanks Brian. Yes I heard about all the dirt across the Nullarbor. That would be awful. I have shown all the roadhouses in another videos called 'Is It Worth Crossing the Nullarbor'
They are what you call amazing memories mate 🤙
Do you prefer manual or automatic 🤔
Definitely manual. I hate auto.
From Darwin, Bunji, you are a legend, keep up the good work!!!
Thanks Bruce. It's great to have you along.
Very good
Thanks Jessica
