Thank you for your clear and precise instructions. At 88 years old I learnt how to remove, clean and put back together my Dyson V10 animal. Last weekend after watching your video, I removed my very old Dyson DC8, cleaned washed all the parts except the paper gasket in the Radix and put them together. The suction is like nine years ago when I bought it. Having been a DIY addict all my life it was easy to listen to your instructions and absorb them. If you are not a DIY enthusiast it is advisable to watch and listen but let an expert look after your expensive equipment.

You have no idea how much this video helped me when I got my Dyson. Now I deep clean my Dyson V10 about every 6 months. I actually go as far as taking the rubber gaskets off to get all the nasty dirt out and use an air compressor to blow all the dust out of the main part. Thank you so much! If anyone is worried about putting it back together, just take a couple of photo's so you remember where everything goes. :)

When you put the screws back in, to make sure they go back into the spiral cut they made when they were put in originally, and do not cut a new spiral, gently push the screw home, then rotate it anticlockwise (backwards) until you feel, or hear a slight click. Now screw clockwise and the screw should go in very easily as it has found the original groove. This works anywhere that self tapping style screws have been put in plastic holes, and helps ensure that multiple uses do not tear out the hole and in effect, strip the thread out. I was taught this by a NASA engineer, Gordon Plews while discussing disassembling Roomba robot vacuums.

Thank you for the detaild video. I dump the bin in my V11 outside to keep dust out of the house. When I wash the filter, I dry it in front of a small fan and its completely dry in 12 hours. I've discovered a really simple way to thuroughly clean the inside of the vaccum without disassembling it, using an electric leaf blower. Again outside, remove the dust bin and rear filter. Blow off the fitter (you still should wash the filter occasionally) and blow out the dust bin and the red gasket area that seals to the vacuum body. Next blow out the vacuum body. Point the blower directly at the perforated metal on the vacuum body and blow out the dust and alternate with blowing air directly into the end of the body (where the tube and brushes attach) and then direct the blower air into the back of the vacuum where the filter attaches, to blow through the vacuum. Do this several times. It creates an enormous dust cloud, so make sure no nearby windows are open. I also blow out the vacuum metal tube and floor soft roller and rug brush and scrape out any dirt that does not blow off. Its probably a good idea to wash off the roller and floor brush after blowwing off. Compressed air with an air nozzel should work well for this too. Just don't set the pressure crazy high.

So far so good with this vacuum. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g I was a little concerned to find it seems to be all plastic, but the reviews were good, so I'm hoping for the best. Very easy to assemble Recommened, and only attachments I've used so far work well, and are easy to use. Doing a good job on the new carpet in my bedrooms and stairs. Works well on the hardwood on my main floor too. Reasonable weight and cord length. I already knew from an earlier review that it wouldn't fit under furniture, but I can use my Eufy for that, so no problem - the high traffic areas that need a stronger suction was really what I bought this for. If it continues as it's started, it will be a good buy and well worth the money. I have had two Shark Rocket stick vacs in the past that are super easy to use, but the motors just don't last well, even with scrupulous cleaning of the filters. I'm hoping for better with this Bissell.

Very nice, detailed video - thanks very much. I like to clean mine after each use. The only drawback - and this is 2022 and I've just got the Cyclone V10, is that I liked the older version (I forget the model number) better as far as cleaning it. That model you are able to take apart and rinse out all the parts without unscrewing anything. The model had the larger filter. The filter and battery lasted me over 5 years of appx 2x weekly use. I left it in my previous home for the new homeowners as it was nicely installed in the laundry room.

This has to be the best instructional video on vacuum maintenance that I have ever seen. Thank you so much!
I've been waiting to have my kitchen floor fixed and in the meantime the white gypsum type stuff that is under the linoleum gets everywhere. Sweeping just throws it all up in the air so I've been using my cordless with good results. But when I try to use it I get the flashing hose icon indicating a blockage.
I've washed the filter, which in the past has been effective. I've removed the canister and washed that and I've looked inside and there is absolutely no blockage. So I can only think that the fine powder stuff is clogging up the inside of the vacuum. I just need some Torex Bits to finish my maintenance.

When opening the "main compartment", a plastic bag can be handy to help minimize the "dust cloud"... if you've got a vacuum with a *bag* , or a whole-house vacuum (we just moved to a place with one; love it) , you can use one vacuum to clean the canister, and that will get most of it... you can just slide the cylinder down, without "popping it open" , and put your *other vacuum's* nozzle in the hole... suck out most of it, *then* pop it open to complete. A shop-vac could also be used. I realize *eventually* , you're going to have to empty something nasty (whole house vac, shop vac, etc.) , but this approach helps minimize those "episodes". Thanks for the video! Nice shirt.

Great video; very clear and easy to follow. Didn't know you could pull the battery. That is a good thing given the decay that occurs in batteries over time. Too bad Dyson doesn't make that a snap off design and so you could have a second battery charging.

You’re explanation is so clear that It gave me the confidence to clean my v10 on my own. However, I think I would not venture into unscrewing as this is way beyond my capabilities. But thanks so much!

Dyson would rather you buy the newer version than tell you how to maintain the one you currently own.

Great vid very concise instructions, I already new how to do all this apart from taking out the four screws, so nice to learn something new, next time I clean it I will follow that line, already got the screwdriver, thanks for the size. The first Dyson I bought was the DC 4 and I kept that for six years before I up graded. When I got the DC 18 slim my wife started to strip down the canister and cyclone and washed them and hung them out to dry on the washing line. 😁😁 I still have the DC 18 slim a great machine still going strong to this day.

I liked the NASA-advice also from the guy in the previous comments about how not to strip threads over time on screws which self-tap into plastic! Excellent! I could imagine myself doing this on all sorts of gadgets and I’ll be aware of the trick and perhaps even teach my husband something new!

Thank you for the video it was very helpful. I have found that the slide to empty is a bit stiff so it was good to know that is normal. I will keep this link handy so that I can refer to it when necessary. I am pleased with the vacuum cleaner so far.
