      I saw another one of your comments saying that it says it has a cancer risk on cell phone boxes. This is 1 of 2 things
      1. Heavy metals can be carcinogenic. which cell phones contain. You would have to be snorting it of course to have any effect

  • @ninjanyan1579
    @ninjanyan1579 ปีที่แล้ว +385

    After a few hours of being in the comments, I've learned a few things:
    There is an important distinction between "radioactive" and "emits electromagnetic radiation"
    radioactive is about the dangerous wavelengths of EMR. (beta, alpha, gamma), which he tested for.
    On a medical note, there have been a few cases where people attributed phones to causing cancer, but it's most likely correlation, not causation, especially considering the results of the video.
    On an tangential note, coal power plants actually put more radiation into the environment around them then nuclear power plants. Naturally occurring radioactive elements are present in the coal, and are concentrated in the ash. Coal plants generally have a lower safety standard than nuclear plants due to various stigmas (thanks, Russia)
    TL;DR: radioactive is only the dangerous ones, cell phones don't cause tumors, and you're more likely to get radiation poisoning living next to a coal power plant than living next to a nuclear power plant.

    • @tadferd4340
      @tadferd4340 ปีที่แล้ว +36

    Clarification: Phones *DO* emit some radiation, but not the *HARMFUL* ones like ionizing radiation. They emit *RADIO WAVES* that are essential in transmitting signals like text and radio, and radio waves are on the far left of the EM spectrum, where longer wavelengths sit and don't harm life. The right side is where shorter wavelengths stay, and where more UV it emits, and thus making it dangerous.

    What many people miss understand is that the energy that is employed isn't the same kind of energy as that you might be exposed to by thorium and uranium. They are comparing electromagnetic radiation from their antina when a cell phone transmitter is used and the radiation from a radioactive material like thorium. Both are potentially harmful in high enough concentrations however, one you will absolutely need a huge transmitter and lots of power to cause cancer or injury and the other you are able to receive harmful effects simply by being in the same room as a sorce. Absolutely Both could have negative effects on someone but one would require you to be in the direction and very close proximity of a radio transever.

    Thanks for testing smart phones.
    How about putting Glow in the dark items? or ignited cigarettes?

      Glow in the dark stuff does nothing, At least modern. You are probably thinking of radium which has not been used in along time but keeps stuff glowing. With the old stuff the radium would decay and have the glow in the dark stuff put off visible light. The new stuff is activated by either heat or light however.

      Curious about burning material, which should release rapidly degrading hydrocarbons.

      Burning materials won't work because the cloud chamber only works when it's kept at a fairly low temperature. Also especially a bad idea because you're looking at vaporized alcohol which could ignite.

      If the radio not active it's ok. Just radio-inactive

    I think people are confusing microwaves and radiation. Yes, phones do emit microwaves, but those have so much low power that it fades out within 20~30feet(Bluetooth works on 2.4GHz). These can barely scratch any human and it certainly doesnt "induce violent and aggressive behavior in teenagers"(ahem). As for radiation, this guy did the job.

    Can you try bananas and house dust next? In my experience, bananas barely gave off anything, and house dust was pretty radioactive.
