Truth. Just because you find someone attractive or entertaining or they smiled at you doesn’t give you the right to invade their personal space. And so many that do are complete hypocrites.
I don't get people who say performing celebrities owe something to them. Celebrities perform - you get their performance and provide audience to them. That's it. No one is entitled to more. Normal people don't go touching, stalking and harassing doctors, teachers, nail techs, insurance brokers etc while they are minding their own business (I assume they don't; if they do, I'm so sorry). Let people of all occupations just be people while they are off duty.
I was scared to approach you at the renfair this year. I do want to say that seeing your dad perform 30 years ago when I was 16 was awe inspiring, and I got to share that experience with my son this year when he is 16 watching you perform, and I want to say thank you. I would have told you then but I have social anxiety. If you could also tell your dad thank you for sharing his talents with the world, I would greatly appreciate it.
Jacques, Just wanted to say "Thank you" for one of the things you've done with your fame. Back 2 years ago, you visited my class and did a few Kahoot questions with them. I still get students today who see the video and say, "NO WAY! Jacques Ze Whipper was here!!!!" It really created something fun and magically around the start of the semester and for future students who find the video. I know the video isn't a viral video on TH-cam but for each student who stumbles across it or who was there live, it really brightens their day. Thank you Brian
I really appreciate your ability to recognize and speak about your privilege without it being defensive or about guilt or shame. You just seem like a nice, thoughtful guy who deserves the success he is getting!
You're handling fame pretty great to be honest. You're humble and empathetic and fixing boundaries as you go. Totally get the need to recharge and have time to just be you, I wouldn't even say it's a fame thing, you can't pour from an empty glass. Don't spread yourself to thin. Keep up the balance and the great mindset ! And thank you G for editing the video
I was surprised when we had the opportunity to take a picture with you. You said people with wheelchairs and canes come to the front of the line. Also, you are so nice in person. You're still my Autistic son's favorite person on TH-cam
Dear Jacques, every introvert understands the "social tiredness" you describe. You can love people & have gratitude for your current situation of fame, and still need time to be a healthy human being who is simply existing in the quietness of life; not constantly performing. The majority of your fans will understand this and respect this, I hope. Please take that time, and stay healthy. 🙂
Went to my first renaissance festival this summer. My kids insisted we see your show. I’m so glad they did, I LOVED it and have been watching your channel ever since. Thank you for making me laugh and smile on a regular basis.
Man being "on" all the time is so draining. Definitely set those boundaries for yourself so you can rest and refresh and be there with your friends and family.
I love that we have creators and performers having a real talk about being a real person, how to manage that and generally being a healthy role model for how to handle oneself. Thank you for sharing!
It's so nice to hear that you immediately started thinking of solutions to the problems instead of deciding to not take photos/interact with fans any more. You're a solid human being, keep up the good work! ❤
I was thinking about all this after I saw you live the first time this summer. I was overwhelmed by the crowds… and I believe you deserve the success after seeing what you do. But 4 shows a day twice a week in the heat with hundreds of people screaming, pushing and testing boundaries. I hope you remain successful and all this keeps manageable for you.
I'm an activist which similarly ends up with members of the public pushing boundaries, and I've often thought about how gender affects our work. Female members of our group have been dragged along the ground by security, people put arms around them, trapped their feet between their legs, and being a guy that lifts weights I basically never experience the fear of being physically over powered. It's why I'm always happy to draw aggro, because like you said I can make physical distance a lot easier then a woman my age.
@@sorbabaric1 currently we educate people on the horrors of the cruise industry and disrupt cruise ships in non-violent ways. And all laws could be described as "Forcing your beliefs on others." I wish more people understood that it costs nothing to be kind, to be respectful, and to be understanding. You embody all three and I wish everyone else did too. It would be such a nicer world and far better for those who put themselves out there to bring others joy. I’d also like to say that just because you can physically protect yourself & put a stop to interactions that are uncomfortable, doesn’t mean you should have to. They shouldn’t be occurring in the first place. People really need to stop being such hypocrites. IYKYK. It’s just so disrespectful to you, your wife, and your relationship. You are absolutely awesome and I can’t wait to finally get to see your show in person! Someday, I hope. I’ve been working hard to regain mobility so it’s possible.
Awesome that Jaques Ze Whipper & his wife are now in zee whippy happiness family collaboration officially as a dynamic duo! Your videos are showcased excellently via the skills of your wife. You are a positive and happy source of entertainment for many. Wishing you, Mrs JZW, & the fabulous feline Scipio all the best for the future. Hope y’all have the time you both deserve to rest and recharge along with respectful boundaries that are a must from fandom & the public in general.
Thank you so much for acknowledging the different experiences women have than men, just on the simple fact of being a woman. So many people dont understand it.
I love that you can take the man out of NPR but you can’t the NPR out of the man. 😂 That microphone arm and angle are so cool and with it Jack slides right into that easy to listen to voice. 😊
I met you in CO this summer. You were so genuine and so fun! The "photo op" with you and Ses is something my husband and I talk about a lot and we cherish those photos! Thank you for the laughs and for the shows. Please take care of yourself. ❤️❤️ -Carman from Colorado
There's only so much energy to go around every day. You do need to hold some of that energy back for yourself. Thanks for posting. Thanks for being you.
Saw you for the first time this last Summer at the Colorado Renaissance Faire. Our daughter had told us about you and showed us some videos of you. I have to say that my wife, daughter and I really enjoyed the show and it was worth the nine hour drive from Utah to experience the Faire and your show. Stay safe, continue to laugh and have fun and may you and your family have years of continued success.
As someone who got to meet you this summer at the Washington State Renaissance Faire, I tried stumping you with the piano man 😂, I found your picture line wonderful. Quick, efficient and yet personable. I do line management and autograph lines - along with pictures at a lot of events and was very impressed - you having long arms probably makes selfies easier 😊 KEEP Doing it the way you need to 👍 Hope to catch another show in the future.
Saw you Labor Day weekend at the MD Ren Festival, great show, I will come see again. Wish I had the time to stand in line for a photo. Keep doing what you do, you are making tons of people happy. You a bright light in a lot of people's dark days.
My husband and I first saw your show back in I think 2015 or 2016 at KRF and would quote to each other constantly "If you wanna see the whip show say oui oui" Then were shocked years later for you to show up in TH-cam recommended. I'm glad you've had such wide online success and for the most part positive fan experiences!
Jack you do so much for your fans. Most of us appreciate what you do. Some of us can't easily get to one of your shows but know that when we do, as long as we treat you with respect you will be kind to us. I am thankful I found your online community and even though I am super shy and socially awkward I know I will enjoy meeting you in person one day. Thank You for being you and doing what you do!
We love what you're doing, Jack. You are a wholesome person, and the dedication you put into your performances is second to none. You and your wife are a great team!!!
I think it is lovely (and I am glad you shared the stories) that you recognize the feelings that you have the power to evoke in your fans, positive or negative, and that those feelings can follow you for a long time. I have the utmost respect for celebrities that understand this, and always strive to be kind and gracious to fans who approach them, even if it is to decline a photo or autograph for whatever reason. That being said, I also have respect for fans who recognize that their favorite celebrities are actual humans with thoughts and feelings and busy schedules, and can be brief and respectful even when they are super excited to meet a celebrity. SHAME on the people who feel entitled to assault another person, male or female, verbally or physically, by putting hands on them or making inappropriate comments about their body without EXPRESS CONSENT. Period. Be ashamed and learn to do better if you think you are entitled to that.
Yes, there’s actually guy YT creators who get 50K comments with only one or two being negative, they’ve mentioned that themselves. Even Seth Myers said he was scared to read the comments, but when he did, he was genuinely surprised by how nice they were, & thus “Corrections” was born specifically for TH-cam. Gal creators have to get ahead of the comments & delete, if they don’t, you can get a glimpse into some seriously deprived minds.
I appreciate the openness about everything and I appreciate you mentioning that your experience is different than others' experiences, especially womens' experiences. May you always have the exact amount of fame that works for you and may your fans be just as respectful as you. 😊 You seem like a wonderful person.
Thank you for letting us in on more of your life an dhow things have affected you. It's nice to see how things have changed and so glad majority of it is good for you. Also not sure if it's just the lighting but if not then the silver in the hair is a great look!
We only had you at Sterling for a year but I've been swearing ever since that I WILL see your show in person again someday. Just gonna take a little travelling! So awesome to see how well known you've become. You certainly deserve it!
I met you at KRF a couple of years ago when DO had brought me for my first time. He introduced me to you and we talked afterwards about how down to earth you still are after all the fame. He was glad to have a few minutes to talk with you and catch up. I'm happy for all your success and wish you all the best in life. -Sean
If you’re an extrovert, it may have been easier to handle a lot of socialing. The experience you’ve had of being over-people’d is the same as what introverts have all the time, so it’s totally not weird! I’m glad you’re learning to adjust to make sure you have your introvert time. ❤
I swear to god his cat is more famous than him at this rate but who's caring? 😂 Also I wish he could come and do a UK/Scotland tour i'd love to see him performing live it must be sensational! Keep doing what ur doing Jacques ur doing it right! ❤
Seconding this, a Scotland tour would be amazing! Travelling to the US for a ren faire _would_ be really cool... but maybe a wee bit prohibitive, cost-wise 😅
Totally here for that! I'm English but imagining an -american- french man espousing France and being French in front of big Scots is a hilarious thought. Imagine it: Jack: "France is the bes-" Scots: *Scowls* Jack: *Scarred french noises*
Thanks Jack, you seem to be a really decent, level person who understands the psychology of fame pretty well. Though I may never see your show, I’m cheering you on and hope for your continued success.
I have been Lucky enough in my life to meet several famous people, hockey players, comedians, rocks stars and other musicians and I have Always been respectful. These are real people like anyone else, they just have a job that makes you happy (& hopefully them too!) Treat people the way you want to be treated and life is good. Thanks for sharing and thanks for working so hard to balance things so your fans still get to enjoy you! Many more blessings to You and your Family!❤🎉
Authenticity as it's best. You are so settled, creative, nice and show that you are just you. That's awesome. Thanks for your great content, talent and that you be, who you are. Best wishes and greetings from germany.
My three year old watched Minnie's Bow Tunes and Bluey through most of your show, only saw your fire whip finale, and now she stages whip shows in our living room. She claims that she is Jacques Ze Whipper. Congrats dude lol.
Those photos of people waiting in line to get a photo with you were certainly eye-opening! I had no idea you were that beseiged. Maybe that’s an overly strong word but it looks so intimidating to have that many humans waiting for your attention. It’s astonishing. I’m also so sorry and sad that some people (very few, I hope) are nervy enough to touch you… That seems so offensive to me! I think “boundaries” will have to be your keyword from now on, Jack. As for staying in touch with family and friends, I wonder how you would feel about using those long hours driving from place to place to make those phone calls? Of course, that’s also good time for regrouping and being quiet. I learned a lot about your experiences with fame in this video. Thanks. Hope the Maryland Ren Faire is good to you this year.
Thank you for adding your voice to the conversation! As an elder fandom lady it's been concerning to me to see how fans behavior/boundaries/expectations have changed in the past 10-15 years or so. My friends who are raising little fans say that they talk about parasocial relationships with their kids and how to behave.
Your photo line process (seen this year at NJ Ren Faire) was a master class. Did not feel "rushed" got a great picture, so that balancing at was wonderfully done. It's sad some people feel emboldened to say or do reprehensible things online or in person. You do make many many people happy so I wish you continued success.
Saw you at the Maryland Renaissance Festival this past weekend, was a delight. You definitely give more than I would expect to the fans, your line was long for a day that was not overly crowded at location. That being said, I really hope you do Pinball Wizard at some point
Humility is such an underrated personality trait but very necessary to keep a person grounded no matter their life circumstances (boon or bust). Kudos!
My friend saw you at the Maryland Renaissance Festival this past weekend and told me about you. Glad she told me about you and hopefully I can convince my local faire people to get you to come out my way. Thanks for your insight on becoming famous and your respect about how navigating the world as a man differs between navigating the world as a woman. Please pet your cat for me. :3
Thanks for sharing your experience, this is such an important conversation for independent creators to have online with their communities. Also thanks for acknowledging the difference between what you and what women and femme presenting folks go though. I’ve had to send screenshots of what I get on IG to some of my male peers to illustrate the difference between my experience and theirs. They were rightfully horrified, I was like “well that’s just a Tuesday for me” 😂
That is incredibly wholesome that you make sure to say something to your fans, so that they don't have the same feeling you had of being ignored by someone you looked up to! As someone who speaks softly enough that I've been accidentally or on purpose ignored while making eye contact, its rough even when you don't want an autograph!
I've definitely started to experience the not so great comments and interactions being a newer content creator (about a year), and then look at my partner's comment section which is overall much more friendly, so the bit where you mentioned the difference between men and women creating content really hit home when looking between he and I's channels😅 Wish you and your family a great rest of the year!
Everyone needs work life balance, everyone needs time to exhale, everyone needs time to just be. No one should need to apologize for taking time for self care.
Talking about the lunch with your friend, that brings up another point: it speaks chapters to your integrity by how you treat a celebrity, but it speaks volumes more by how you treat the other people with that same celebrity. The fan that saw you and said “hey, just wanted to say I love your content, have a good day” is respectful, a different fan shoving their phone into your friend’s hand demanding they take your picture would have been wholly inappropriate and unacceptable.
I really can't comprehend the "handsy" people like I would be so starstruck and shy if I met you or any other celebrity, Z list or otherwise, that touching them (in any way) wouldn't even be on my radar. I'm so sorry that anyone deals with that.
I just have to say me and my family loved you in texas and very grateful for the selfie you did with us, it made my 2 children's day that is all they talk about now. Mom watch me whip I'm Jacques ze whipper
I met Billy West (voice actor = 'Futurama', Red M&M, and MANY more) at a convention w/ my husband years ago. No one was around him (to our shock), so he was incredibly nice enough to not only sign an autograph for us, but also perform some of his famous characters & have a small conversation with us. It not only made our whole day, but still stands out to me as, hands-down, one of the best celebrity encounters of my whole life. He was seriously just one of the nicest, kindest, most down-to-earth and warmest persons I've ever met. I still have such positive feelings about it years later. He's such a big name (as far as voice actors go), but still took the time to not only act like a decent human being, but be incredibly kind and friendly as well. I understand it can't always be easy being ANY kind of a celebrity - but a tiny bit of extra humility can make a good impression on someone and stay with them for a lifetime.
It’s normal to need down time. You have to take care of yourself first or you will get burned out. If people can’t understand that then they have a problem
Don't ever feel bad about opening up about this jack, the clout fairies have bred over the past 2 decades --- everybody needs this guidance and validation through your experience
You such an awesome person. Nice to your fans and himble in your fame. I'd love to be able to see you live, but, unfortunately, I can't afford to travel and I live in Sudbury, Ontario. I don't think you would ever come here since it's so small a city. Just keep being you and I'll keep watching your channel.
Are you ever coming to the Minnesota Renaissance Festival September into October? Your being there would really boost me to go!!!! I love you and your act😊😊😊😊😊
I'm going to make a complaint to the HR department to have the "Jacques Ze Whipper" Halloween costume at Spirit of Halloween. I'm going to message them right now and demand a collaboration with you to make this happen. Oh, and congratulations on your success at cracking whips while cracking jokes. That's awesome! Now on to my costume idea. Lets make this happen!
I remember seeing you at the MD Renn Faire when you were at the small stage near the entrance. They probably have you on the bigger stage now. I hope I get to see you this year
NEVER compare your life to someone else. If you are happy with where you are, you are fine. If not, take a break. You do need to come to California. Always have boundaries.
Come to the CT Ren Faire!!!!! Also... Heard of Chapel Roan like... Once...who is she?! Also also... Those interactions with the ball players are amazing examples of the kindness that cost nothing. First guy was still too busy, but that two second acknowledgment made all the difference in the world to you! Thanks for being awesome and kind and real, Jacques 🥰🤗🙏🏻
Hey! I been going to Ren Faires all my life. I'm have my first job in high school was on the cast for the GA Faire. But I don't understand the economics. Maybe you could do a short video about how performers make a living? At some faires I go to after the show they ask for tips and I feel like that's the main way that they're making money at those faires. But then I go to other places and they never asked for tips. So I guess that they are contractually obligated not to ask and they're making their money through a contract. Is this true?
She's on the A list and you're on the ZE list 🌟
Good one! 😁

If you’re an extrovert, it may have been easier to handle a lot of socialing. The experience you’ve had of being over-people’d is the same as what introverts have all the time, so it’s totally not weird! I’m glad you’re learning to adjust to make sure you have your introvert time. ❤
Thanks for spreading such fun joy and happiness. 😊 Your contagious smiles are needed and appreciated.
fame always seemed to be a very bittersweet thing to me, to be honest. both something you can love and hate. (also, 27 seconds ago is wild)
I swear to god his cat is more famous than him at this rate but who's caring? 😂
Also I wish he could come and do a UK/Scotland tour i'd love to see him performing live it must be sensational!
Imagine it:
Jack: "France is the bes-"
Scots: *Scowls*
Jack: *Scarred french noises*
I would like to see this as well but not sure whether it's likely to happen.
Do it urself
I meant I wasn't sure whether Jack would ever tour the UK. Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks. Hope the Maryland Ren Faire is good to you this year.
powerful message man. keep doing what you do best love the vids :)
I really enjoy this kind of content! It’s a nice reminder for everyone.
Thank you for adding your voice to the conversation! As an elder fandom lady it's been concerning to me to see how fans behavior/boundaries/expectations have changed in the past 10-15 years or so. My friends who are raising little fans say that they talk about parasocial relationships with their kids and how to behave.
Oh well, that explains the wonderful voice that you have. You definitely have the radio gift.
Thank you for sharing - your take was both eloquent (obviously, bearing in mind your earlier career! ) and eloquent.
Hopefully I'll get to see you live for the first time this weekend on my birthday! Keep being amazing
I've definitely started to experience the not so great comments and interactions being a newer content creator (about a year), and then look at my partner's comment section which is overall much more friendly, so the bit where you mentioned the difference between men and women creating content really hit home when looking between he and I's channels😅
Wish you and your family a great rest of the year!
Thank you for everything we appreciate you
Everyone needs work life balance, everyone needs time to exhale, everyone needs time to just be.
It was so cool to see your shows at Washington Ren Faire!
I really can't comprehend the "handsy" people like I would be so starstruck and shy if I met you or any other celebrity, Z list or otherwise, that touching them (in any way) wouldn't even be on my radar. I'm so sorry that anyone deals with that.
It’s exhausting being an introvert and having to “people,” you have to take time to be quiet in your own mind.
I just wish you came to the Michigan ren fair, I'd love to see you in person at some point!
I am probably not the only one, but I am one of the few who had no idea who Chapelle Roan is and knew who you were Jacque. You're A list in my book :D
I don't know who that is either! Lol!
I just have to say me and my family loved you in texas and very grateful for the selfie you did with us, it made my 2 children's day that is all they talk about now. Mom watch me whip I'm Jacques ze whipper
So balanced and thoughtful. Well done as always. ❤
Me who goes to and helps run Ren Faires: Who’s Chapel Roan?
Thanks for sharing your perspective 😊
Are you ever coming to the Minnesota Renaissance Festival September into October? Your being there would really boost me to go!!!! I love you and your act😊😊😊😊😊
Ze List is still a top tier person .. I hope everyone can enjoy & give each other their boundaries & space
I think you are at least a B list celebrity. You have a niche and ever growing fan base. We all love you
I'm going to make a complaint to the HR department to have the "Jacques Ze Whipper" Halloween costume at Spirit of Halloween. I'm going to message them right now and demand a collaboration with you to make this happen. Oh, and congratulations on your success at cracking whips while cracking jokes. That's awesome! Now on to my costume idea. Lets make this happen!
I do not understand why people treat celebrities so shamelessly. Celebrities are, first and foremost, PEOPLE. They’re not exhibits.
I hope that as your fame grows, your bank account grows for the both of you too. 🙋🏼♀️💕
I have noticed it is often easier to adjust and keep your fame from warping who you are for those who get more famous later in life.
I almost didn’t recognize you without the costume and mustache lol. I watch any video of yours I can find though
My friend Marrus is an artist out of New Orleans and she uses the phrase "Pebble Star" - like a rock star, only smaller.
Marrus is the rock star of any room she's in. She's amazing. 😊
Well said, sir. And well done you. 👏🏻💫
Great conversation!
I love your cat Jacques❤
While all of your content rocks, this one was especially great- thanks for this one, Jack.
I would love to see you someday you are an amazing funny person and everyone is different when it comes to fans

You're so incredibly wholesome...
Thank you for sharing your thoughts
