It dont think that Ozai cared that Zuko hated him, but I don’t think he really knew that Zuko hated him so much that he’d give someone the ultimate tool to kill him. Never thought about any of this before.
Also Zuko after learning the truth of firebending that it comes from the breath and inner peace not rage. And he seemingly took irohs lesson about all the elements working in conjunction and uses aspects of all the other styles while battling Azula. Also also Iroh is so powerful with sozins comet just by inhaling he's making fire burst out the ground
I think Azula's story is especially sad because while Zuko had Iroh and his mother, Azula was kept close to Ozai. And he molded her into a machine of war, teaching her that fear and manipulation was the only way to live. But in the end, that backfired, her friends deserted her and even Ozai himself isn't actually here. And Azula tries to deny it but I think she really wanted her mother's love, and that inner conflict within herself is driving her off the deep end. Her fire, which is usually precise and controlled is more wild. If only someone had extended a hand to her earlier in life and actually meant it instead of dismissing her and focusing on Zuko.
People give Ursa a hard time over her treatment of Azula while she was trying to stop Ozai from literally murdering child Zuko. She was caught between a rock and a hard place and, unfortunately, Azula paid the price

She can literally hear Ozai talking through Azula and all she does is say, “what is wrong with that child?” and go back to mothering Zuko. I personally think she deserves to be given a hard time for prioritising one child and leaving the other in the care of a psychopath, but that’s just me.

If he was clearly pushing more of his beliefs onto Azula, then she should have been trying to counter that with love and compassion. Again the line “what is wrong with that child.” She knows what’s wrong with her. If one child is being prioritised by a psychopath, and the other basically ignored, then you try and help shape the consciousness of the one in the most danger, which was Azula. She obviously needed a bit more guidance than Zuko during her formative years, after she had presented as a prodigy.
Zuko and Azula's Agni Kai is arguably, the most beautiful animation ive ever seen. pretty much all of Spiderverse, there are a few moments with Todoroki in MHA, the Maul vs Ahsoka fight in S7 of Clone Wars, but damn. the show does such an amazing job with the fire bending during the Comet
Fire is the element of power and the fire nation is a very warlike culture, so the firelord probably has to train hard as a royal duty. Ozai improves his firebending by physical conditioning, breathing exercises and beating up 13-year-old kids
not only that the ascension of ozai has even more going on. wile Iroh has years of advantage to build support in the military as an accomplished general commander, Ozai had to build his favor batting as a champion in agni kais in political matters for civil sectors of the fire nation. he is literally referred as the strongest Firebender and it's not because he is fire lord but because his many victories in agni kais.

Agreed. An Agni Kai is supposed to be a battle between 2 FIREBENDERS, and Azula started/initiated this battle, to which Zuko obliged much to Katara's dismay. Azula was no winner here, she was pathetic during this battle and we all know why.

The final part of the Agni Kai, with the slow, soulful string music, (The Last Agni Kai,) may be my favorite non dialogue scene of the entire show. In a show we know is going to absolutely minimize actual deaths due to its target demographic, that scene still managed to instill the sense of both the stakes involved and the fundamental tragedy the fight itself represented.
What I love about this show is how Bryke (Bryan and Mike) were able to touch on mental health how that can shape someone both in a macro and micro level. Displaying it in a way to where it isn’t stereotypical display of madness but more subtle ways like the flashbacks that led up to Azula’s psyche fracturing

Additionally, Zuko only visits when he wants something from her and then decides to make her come along on a search for their mom, who she had a poor relationship with (and he constantly refers to Ursa as only his mom, which, honestly doesn't rub me the right way). This would probably be advised against by an actually legit therapist (note, I am not one, only a tired college student with too many fandoms). ((there's also the part where her brother dangles her over the edge of a cliff by her neck and blames her for everything that went wrong in his life)) Side note: Claiming insanity is historically speaking a method of discrediting other heirs in order to reduce support for possible contenders for a seat of power.

I clearly remember having to wait, so I don’t think I got to watch them all at the same time. Can’t remember why, but I know I was left with that cliffhanger. Might have been a rerun situation.
Aang not wanting to kill Ozai isn't just because it contradicts his spiritual beliefs, like Iroh said the reason only the avatar has to take down the firelord is that it's perceived by the world as a symbolic victory not just another power grab/military win. The avatar killing him would also send a message that it's okay to exterminate your enemies. Aang on top of trying to preserve his culture is also trying to do it in a way that would benefit world balance the most. It always bothers me when people call him selfish or weak during the final episodes.
At no point is Aang's desire not to kill Ozai ever framed as anything but about his personal comfort and beliefs. I wish that weren't the case, but whether arguing with his friends or the past Avatar's, Aang's conflict is entirely about how killing makes him feel. Even Aang, just moments before the Lion Turtle gives him energy bending, admits he has to kill Ozai for the good of the world. The only reason he doesn't is because he gets an alternate solution suddenly given to him.

The decision to kill is a big deal because he is the last Airbender. If he violates the teachings of his people, then from his point of view, his culture will truly be gone from the world, by his own hand.

It wasn’t 18 months. Katara & Sokka found Aang a several weeks before the Winter Solstice (when Aang first spoke with Avatar Roku & learned of Sozin’s Comet). So it was already Winter by then. Roku even said that Aang must learn all the elements by Summers end. So their journey happened within a single year.

I remember when i first watched the lighting moment feeling pretty mad because it made Katara look like a liability even though she is so strong ( probably more powerful than Zuko even ) but after seeing what happens next episode i was more okay with it. A decent reason to give us a 1v1 with Katara and Azula.
I wouldn't say it made her look like a liability at all. I mean she's a water bender, she has pretty much no way of defending against lightning and Azula probably knew that. Plus replace katara with anyone of the gang (who can't redirect lightning obviously) and the impact I'd say would be the same.

Remember when Azula hit Aang in the back with her lightning? That strike actually blocked his Chakra, which is preventing him from going Avatar State. He can still call upon the past Avatar's for advice, but that's it.
I know the girl on the left has a deep love and appreciation for the show. But she's already seen it, and I feel like she's really overwhelming the other 3, and not giving them any time to react to the show. They only really get a chance to react to how over the top she's acting. Really takes what I assume most people are looking for in these, that being first time reactions, and centers it around someone who has already seen it shouting about it. Would've really liked to see the genuine reaction of the other three girls throughout this series.
