As a long-time Spielberg fan, I have to say it's honestly refreshing when instead of trying to make a straight masterpiece, he just makes something that's just pure entertainment. Something that's fun enough for the audience to ignore the plot holes. Not everything a director makes has to be flawless, it's nice to switch it up every now and then.
Exactly!! Giving people just pure joy and fun is also part of filmmaking and sometimes that's what we need - not just the serious 'excellence'. Popcorn flicks rule!
C'mon! Adapting a book always requires some sacrifices. You can read a book at your own pace, therefore authors can take their time with character development, sub stories and details. Theatrical releases have to fit within a "supportable" time span. It doesn't mean it's not a great movie on it's own merit, just ask Tom Bombadil.
The "Lord of the Rings sounding thing" is the Charm of Making from the movie Excalibur. Every frame of this movie is full of deep cut references and easter eggs. I cannot comprehend how they cleared the permissions to access all of this content in one movie. I guess when you're Steven Spielberg, you can get what you want in the cinema world.
And Excalibur is an amazing film by the way - it was my favorite film for quite a while back in the day. It seems like not too many people know about it these days either, even people that do reactions to 80s films. That's just all shades of wrong.
@@mitchellhodgemeyer7306 Agreed. I cannot count how many times I've watched Excalibur growing up. I do recall having to purchase it more than once because I wore out the VHS tape.
The best film depiction of the story of King Arthur and the Knights of the Roundtable! An absolutely fantastic film. Incredible cast. Amazing cinematography. Directed by John Boorman. A must watch

I strongly disagree. This is the laziest movie Spielberg has made: just a never-ending cavalcade of "hey, remember this!?" memberberries and nothing more.
@@stobe187 I hate how this movie made a thread in media of “lets put thousands of characthers on the screen for no reason so people can soyjack meme the product and we will be famous!”
@@stobe187At this point in his life and age, he is more interested in making movies for himself. He makes movies that HE wants to see and Ready Player One is a movie that he wanted to see. It’s that simple and nothing more.
The 'Overlook Theater' is based on 'The Senator' theater in Baltimore. Part of 'Twelve Monkeys' was filmed there. And with the exception of the name, it's a faithful reproduction of the exterior.
and Stanley Kubrick was a Spielberg fan since e.t. that's why in the movie a.i. he created the end of the aliens and people always think that Spielberg changed that from the original script created by Kubrick, but it was the original idea from Kubrick
Fun Fact:The designer (Jared Krichevsky) of the mechagodzilla in this movie also designed the mechagodzilla in Godzilla vs Kong. Also, this mechagodzilla design was heavily inspired by a poster for one of the Japanese Godzilla movies, “Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2.” Jared knows how to design a good mechagodzilla.
Absolutely loved your guy's reaction to this movie! You really gave the right energy, hype and appreciation to a lot of the easter eggs & references. Especially after watching a lot of these movies again with you, it has made the payoff for this movie even better!
@SoCloseToToast seeing how much you've enjoyed this means the world to us! Especially me (Ari), me and my friends watched your BO2 beatbox vids all the time. It's nice seeing we get to give back ❤️
39:41 that's the "Charm Of Making" from the movie Excalibur. There's so many deep cuts and obscure pop culture references in this movie,it's one of my favorites
Media Knights Thank you for the shout out, especially since this is one of my favorite movie and as a genXer this film really holds a place in my heart. There are so many references, His Uncle was playing a a lead character from the game star craft, there was Battle Toads, Ninja Turtles, Marvin the Martian was there, Chun Li and Ryu from street fighter. H’s Truck is the old Monster Truck Big Foot. In the Background of H’s work shop has the RV from Space Balls as well as a Tie Fighter. Not sure if you noticed but I’m sure you did, the main bad guys character/avatar was Superman. Oh the 4 armed creature Artimis used was Goro from Mortal Combat. The device that zeroed everyone is the time controlling device from an 80s movie called “My science project”Anyway every time I rewatch this I always find something new. I really enjoyed this one and am happy that you both enjoyed this one. Keep up the great work.
First of all thank you sooo much for your support!! Secondly, holy cow, thank you for pointing out all those references, we did indeed miss a few because we were so befuddled with the awesomeness of this film!! It always makes us so happy when a film succeeds in giving genuine joy to the audience, it's an irreplaceable feeling! We absolutely loved this film and are so glad we got to share this with you! Thank you again, you rock!

LOL Halliday gave the clue to the third challenge in his speech after he died and no-one picked up on it. 6:18 It's so funny. As to who Halliday is in the Oasis... I think he uploaded his mind just before his body died so he could personally watch over the keys and personally hand over the egg. It's good to see you guys loved this movie. It's why I advised it too as a comment on Free Guy.(among others probably)
@@KriminalRecords-u5b He sort of said it himself. 'You're not an avatar are you?' 'No.' 'Is Halliday really dead?' 'Yes." The only way for him to know that is if he was present at the death and is an AI created by Halliday, or Halliday's mind.

For those who don't know, the "spell" to activate "The orb of osovux" (or however it might be written), is an enchantment from the movie Excalibur, (Kings Arthur's story). By the end of the movie, the witch Morgana (who used magic to stay young), used that chant to cast a spell against King Arthur, but Merlin tricked her into to using her power beyond a proper limit, which caused her to age very rapidly, (she went from being like 30 to end up looking like 90 in minutes) In the end, she was killed by her own son who didn't recognize her.
The key to the Orb of Othovox is The Charm of Making from the 80's film Excalibur: "Anál nathrach, Orth’ bháis ’s bethad , Do chél dénmha" - which is in the Welsh language, and means: "Breath of serpent, spell of death and of life thy omen of making." A great film BTW
The reference I went crazy for was when Daito turns into the RX-78-2 Gundam to fight MechaGodzilla. Straight up epic is an understatement. Great reaction 🤙
We are slowly heading there! A lot of the gear depicted here already exist. We just need a gaming company to make an ultra realistic world where all of the IPs come together 😁
Spielberg, I believe, said he didn't wanna reference any of his films cuz he didn't want it to be seen as self-promotion. Which is why we can only see Jurassic Park.
Knowing that you've just watched Back to the future, I was so excited to see your reaction to the DeLorean, and I was not disappointed🤣🤣 p.s. Denise is the first reactor I saw who put it together before the movie tells us that Stephen King hates the movie version of the Shining!
@@grommeuleur1648 in the book hallyday was a D&D player and most of the first part of the book is only about P&P rpg because halliday was so much into it.... the book is so much better.... none of the movie "Quests" are from the book....
I wondered about that. I thought it was from the D&D cartoon when the kids/group get on the roller coaster at the beginning and the cars travel through that open mouth and that is how they get transported. Such a cool cartoon. Venger always avoiding Tiamat and the character of the Dungeon Master was fun to watch as a kid.
While the movie did not disappoint, the book, which I read first, was truly an homage to my childhood. There was not a page that wasn't filled to the brim with references to all I watched, read, listened to, and played throughout all my early life. Everyone can enjoy it and get some of the references, but to people of a certain age it is a personal love-letter to our youth. I never thought they'd be able to make it into a movie because all the rights to every single character, music, etc .. would have to be licensed. I honestly believe that ONLY Spielberg could have been able to pull it off, as he is likely the only guy with enough clout and reputation to negotiate the licensing deals required to use all these fabulous icons. The story in the book and movie are actually not all that similar except in broad strokes, but because each references the same pool of memories both work extremely well. If you liked the movie, I'd definitely recommend the book, coz it is more of and better than this extravaganza, which is saying a lot.
I absolutely LOVED the book so much. I read it in one night and then passed it around to everyone I knew and half of them passed it around, too. My first watch of this I spent the entire time comparing it to the book and struggled to let it go. On subsequent watches, I got all of that out of my system. Now I can embrace it for what it is and thoroughly enjoy it. Even though it's not a slavish adaptation, what Spielberg did right was to capture the essence of the story and that's why it still works.
I read the book before the movie was announced. The book was a bit more darker and dealt more with 70-90s pop culture. And after reading, I thought to myself "only Steven Spielberg could make this" there is too many big properties that only he could be trusted with.
49:25 that thing she threw into Mechagodzilla’s head was a MadBall. They were huge in the mid 80s. I had so many of them as a kid. This is my all time favorite movie. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen it, and i still catch new Easter eggs and find new characters in it that I didn’t before. This movie will forever be a classic. Love watching you both enjoy it. You two are my absolute favorite reactors. ❤❤
Based on the novel of the same name by Ernest Cline! A sequel is in development, but Spielberg will not be directing the movie, instead he will serve as executive producer, and Ernest Cline will write the script.
Right, we were amazed to find out this was based on a book, we definitely will be checking that out soon! Hopefully the sequel maintains the joyful energy of this one! Cannot wait for it!
@@OfficialMediaKnights Huge fan of both books by Ernest Cline, and if you enjoyed the movie you will most definitely enjoy the books (especially the first). TONS of references for you to catch, although many are more steeped in 80s pop-culture as that’s when Halliday was growing up. While they are developing the sequel to this movie, I’m curious to see how they address certain things from the second book. Let’s just say there are some unanswered questions that book 2 tackles that you may find intriguing! I know your medium of content is based on film (and now gaming) but I would love to hear what you think of Cline’s book.
The problem is that the sequel changes the ultimate outcome of the first book and makes Wade do things that don't seem like anything he would do after all we've seen. It seems like something Cline only did to appease some contract or expectation from the publishers. He also did another story called Armada that is basically a copy of the last starfighter.
Saw the movie first and loved it. Read the book and was blown away how much better it was. I still love both. It does seem to me that a majority of the people that read the book first did not like the movie...not all..but a majority
@@Zoo-jc2kwI enjoyed the movie, but have to admit that my mind was pointing out all the changes the entire time I watched it, especially stuff that seems unnecessary. I won't give any specifics as not to spoil it for anyone.
References! Simon Pegg, who plays Halliday's bff, was in a bbc series called SPACED. Sadly it only had 2 seasons, but was directed by Edgar Wright! It has SO MANY REFERENCES that the dvd has a subtitle option giving you on-screen, every reference as it is being made. It's amazing. One epislde was their inspiration for Shaun of the Dead. It is very very fitting for Simon Pegg yo be in a movie like this.🥰
@@DarthKilaj85 yes I know. As do you, it seems. However.... That wasn't my point. While watching Ready Player One, they discussed how awesome all the references were; and not everyone has seen SPACED, or if they have, they may not have the DVD of SPACED, or know about that particular subtitle option. 🤗 It was a fun fact, not a declaration of Simon Pegg's career.
Fabulous, joyful reaction guys ❤ You're faces when the DeLorean came on screen was everything I hoped and wished for🥰🥰🥰🤣🤣🤣 There's too many Easter eggs in this film to catch unless you pause it every frame. It's epic. Absolutely joyfest for us 80's babies.
Haha thank youuu, we were blown away by the DeLorean, what an iconic moment! We definitely need a breakdown video of all the references haha, way too many to catch for a single viewing! Thank you again for the love and support, we appreciate you ❤️
You absolutely HAVE to add Excalibur to your list of movies to watch. Not only is it an amazing film, it'll include the charm of making, which sounded like Lord of the Rings language to you (actually Gaelic).
This movie was a pretty good adaptation, but I also strongly recommend listening to the audiobook read by Wil Wheaton. It’s a hell of a great book with thousands of details that never made it to the movie. Most people can get a copy to listen to for free from their local library. I have it permanently on my player that I listen to when I’m doing mindless chores like yardwork.
You need to watch Buckaroo Banzai, the trick to LOVING that movie to pretend that there are 8 or 9 films in that series and you are watching part 6, it is full of "inside jokes" and references to films that don't exist. LOVE LOVE LOVE that movie so much
I highly recommend either reading or listening to the book. To say it has tons of pop culture references would be an understatement, along with going into greater depth with the characters and the overall tone being darker, it's equally as satisfying as the film.
Just wanted to thank you guys for doing these reactions, I've been diagnosed with terminal cancer and watching these are like watching with friends and gives me a great feeling. Thank you so much and keep up all the amazing work its so appreciated.
I was diagnosed with terminal cancer in the fall of 2022. My scan from this past May showed NED. You never know. Either way, I'm glad that you're finding joy in things. Cancer can be such a dark, dark journey. Especially in the very beginning. You're not alone
The reason the score sounded so much like John Williams is because it was Alan Silvestri. Even MORE apropos is your comment that it sounds like Back to the Future - Silvestri composed the Back to the Future Trilogy. In fact, he's composed most of Robert Zemeckis' films, much like Williams has for Spielberg. Parallels abound... In this case, Spielberg had fast-tracked "The Post," which Williams was already working on. So he couldn't do both films at the same time. Spielberg has a "sound" scope he likes to use for his films, and Silvestri's musical style is very much like Williams'. So Spielberg gave him an early cut of the film, scheduled a full-day orchestra session, and gave Silvestri the freedom to compose whatever he wanted. A few weeks later, Spielberg sat for a session. The first thing Silvestri conducted with the orchestra was a brass anthem for an early scene. Spielberg loved it so much, he jumped up out of his chair, raised his hand and said, "Sold!" Silvestri recorded a half hour of music that day, and most of it is the final score for the film. And that brass anthem? It's the main theme for the film. As soon as he finished, Silvestri began composing the music for Avengers: Infinity War. Pretty awesome.
One of my fav easter eggs (since its the only one I found that my family/friends didn't know) is that at 51:57 when I-Rok blows up you'll see a shield with an eagle on it. This is from Clash of the Titans (1981). Perseus was given a helmet, a sword and a shield as gifts from the gods to help his journey. You can youtube just that scene separately when he received it :)

My wife and I originally met online in a video game over 15 years ago. We were friends ever since and got married a few years ago after I moved out to be with her. Love all of yall's reactions and can't wait to see more!
The invocation to turn on or off the Orb of Osuvox is actually the "charm of making" from the movie Excalibur. "The spell cast to use the Orb of Osuvox is from the movie Excalibur. In modern Irish Gaelic, it's "Anáil nathrach, ortha bháis is beatha, do chéal déanaimh," which means, "Serpent's breath, charm of death and life, thy omen of making.""
@@OfficialMediaKnights The book is pretty different from the movie. The clues are (even) more brainy, and not action-oriented the same way as the movie. As Ernie Cline wrote the script for the movie, the changes had his literal blessings.
But please only read the first one. I heard the second one, as well as another one of Ernest Cline I actually read are not as good as "READY PLAYER ONE"......
This is why I love the Media Knights there excitement & enjoyment reacting to movies is uplifting & entertaining. Awesome movie, old school Spielberg it's so cool us gamers spot the easter eggs.
One of the easiest easter eggs to miss isn't a "if you blink and you will miss it" shot so much as a "if you don't frame-by-frame it, you will miss it". During the climactic battle at the end, there is a sequence that goes TMNT brothers fighting - kids fighting in the street - soldiers running past across the screen. If you pause at the end of the kids scene and then frame by frame, you will catch a blurry silhouette of what looks like a girl in a skirt holding a scythe. AKA Ruby Rose from RWBY. I was personally a little skeptical if it was her, but when I called my daughter, a bigger fan of the show, into the room, she immediately called out the shadow.
Your reaction to this is exactly the same as mine when I saw it in the cinema , as a geek it just blew my mind . I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as I did
Great reaction! Based upon a wonderful book, there was a bidding war for the movie rights. Spielberg did a great job bringing it to the screen. It couldn't have been easy. The book is filled with 70's and 80's pop culture and gaming references, hundreds of them buried in the story. So Spielberg had to pick and choose and make some changes just to fit such a dense collection of references and Easter eggs into a movie while still telling the basic story.
"What the hell is that?" Ari says when Art3mis chucks the thing into Mechagodzilla's eye. THAT, my friend, is a MADBALL :D As a kid who grew up in the 80's, this film is 100000% my entire childhood. I really wish I could have been there with you just pointing out all the cool ass obscure references like the Charm of Making from Excalibur as the activation for the Orb of Osuvox, or that Sorrento's employee ID# is IOI-655321, the same number they gave to Alex in A Clockwork Orange for his prisoner #. I could go on for days, man. This made me so happy, thank you for doing this :D
Another banger reaction! Steven Spielberg's brilliance knows no bounds and this is just another example! And the Easter eggs! Almost too many to list and they're all awesome! One of my faves is The Iron Giant, who's voiced by Vin Diesel, who co-starred in "Saving Private Ryan," which is directed by Steven Spielberg. And that battle scene is even better than "Avengers: Endgame"! Other Spielberg suggestions: "Duel" (his first movie), "Sugarland Express," "Schindler's List," "Munich," "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," "Jurassic Park," "Catch Me If You Can," "Bridge of Spies," "West Side Story" & "The Fablemans."
18:31 to answer your question, that is Goro from Mortal Kombat. The model used in the movie is specifically from Mortal Kombat X (the tenth game in the Mortal Kombat franchise)
One of the reasons why having the game designers name was an easter egg was that back in the day game designers no how much time, effort and work they put into the game didn't even get credited in the game. They didn't even get a part of the profits of the game. The game company owned all rights, no matter how much money it made the designer got nothing. So putting his own name in the game as an easter egg was also an act of defiance, a way to sneak his own credit into the game so people know he had a hand in creating it.
Fun Fact: The featuring of The Shining in this film is mostly a personal Easter Egg for Spielberg. When the High Five enter The Shining, they enter into it in the iconic Colorado Room. Spielberg was a good friend of Stanley Kubrick and his family (and both Spielberg and Kubrick had planned to work together on A.I.: Artificial Intelligence (2001) before Kubrick's death). Spielberg was touring the soundstages where The Shining was being filmed, where Spielberg planned to shoot Raiders of the Lost Ark and he met Kubrick on the Overlook sets. And they met for the first time in the Colorado Room set.
One of the best things about the references is that not everyone will catch all of them. Some are hidden in just the background visuals, where you won't really notice them on a first watch cursory glance. One example, the Doritos packages are actually the older variants. However, you're too busy noticing the DeLorean's, Tracer, the TMNT etc... So much fun to watch and so many references you see the more times you re-watch.
As a big BTTF Fan, I LOVE this movie. The Music is scored and conducted by the great Alan Silvestri, who also scored BTTF, reason why all the leitmotifs from BTTF are so noticeable. Also, Robert Zemeckis gave permission to use all the BTTF's elements to give more life and likeness to the book. The scene where Daito and Parzival have Sorrento at Gunpoint in his office, you can see the eyes of Daito and Parzival with an Orange Glare, a reference to Blade Runner, where the Replicants have the same glare in their eyes. Another very "blink and you'll miss it" moment is the First Challenge Race. You can find all sorts of vehicles like the F1 from Grand Prix Racing, the Batman 67 Batmobile, Christine from Stephen King's novell, The A-Team Van... All of them are in that race. There is a video from New Rockstars that is dedicated to find all the references in this movie and there are more than 300. Is Massive. Thank you so much for this!
I'm so glad that you watched this movie. One of my absolute faves As a self confessed nerd, this was an absolute nerdfest. I was a teenager in the 80's so this movie was like reliving my youth. So many classic vehicles in the race scene from the A-Team van to the Bat mobile to even Christine. Loved it and I love your reactions.
Thank you so so much for your support, it fills our heart with joy to see how much people enjoyed this movie! Also holy cow, CHRISTINE?! NO WAY! Now we definitely have to rewatch this!
The bit I love that nobody ever seems to mention is that the boss villain's avatar looks like Superman. The perfect self image for a guy who thinks he's perfect.
In the novel Ready Player One the Mechagodzilla was the Kiryu version and it wasn't the Iron Giant it was Ultraman. They couldn't get the rights to used Ultraman from Tsuburaya Productions so they used the Iron Giant instead. Toho studios the owners of the Godzilla franchise said they could use Mechagodzilla for the film but not the Kiryu version like in the book. Toho told them to make a new Mechagodzilla based on the poster art of the 1993 film Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II.
The spell for the shield is from a film called Excalibur from 1981 about King Arthur and Merlin called the charm of making. It's Old Gaelic and means "Serpent's breath, charm of death and life, thy omen of making." Hell of a movie for any child of the 70's or 80's...
I love that the weapon used to counter the BFG is the Glaive from Krull. Every game that has a throwing weapon called a "glaive" or "glaive type" owes this to the movie Krull. Thanks to the makers of Krull being unaware that a "glaive" is a pole-arm IRL, and using it as the name for their magical starfish-switchblade-boomerang hero weapon, more people in modern times think of thrown weapons when hearing the term "glaive".
I still remember getting the book for free in a loot crate subscription. I read it and fell in love with it. Kinda "forced" my son to read it and he was glad I did. We got so excited when the movie was announced. First time I understood when people say "the book is better than the movie". And i would agree the book is better, but still glad with what Spieldberg managed to do.
Movie recommendation for you to react to: FIRE IN THE SKY (1993), the most sinister film about Alien Abduction that is even based on a "real" event, this underrated gem is worth checking out.
The original novel is so filled with references that the movie couldn't get the rights to, it's astounding. They also change how the keys are found, but the spirit of the novel was maintained. Ernest Cline, a lifelong geek, gamer, and pop culture guy fills his work with pop culture references. He actually started writing as a slam/performance poet and some of his poems are extremely geeky. He also wrote the screenplay for a movie called Fanboys (2009) which starred Kristen Bell and Dan Fogler, about a group of friends on a quest to see Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace before its release at Skywalker Ranch. It's a fun movie. His novel Armada, which has been in development hell is a fun book as well. - 39:41 - I-Rok is reciting The Charm of Making that is used by Merlin (Nicol Williamson) and Morgana (Helen Mirren) in the 1981 Joh Boorman film Excalibur, one of the best tellings of the Arthurian legends, which given Parzival's name is appropriate. "Annal nathroc uthvas bethodd dochiel dienve" It is derived from Old Irish, and translates, "Serpent's breath, charm of death and life, thy omen of making." If you see Excalibur be prepared for very young versions of Liam Neeson, Patrick Stewart, Gabriel Byrne, and Helen Mirren to pop up. - 57:10 - Since the film was based on the novel by Ernest Cline, the answer to what Halliday in the OASIS is, is in the sequel novel, Ready Player Two (2020), which had mixed reviews, but was optioned for development before it was published. As of March this year, it is still in development according to Spielberg, who will only produce it. Cline is working on the screenplay.
Ready Player One is a great call back to the 80's. Ready player One is based on the book with the same name written by Ernest Cline. If you are wondering if there is a sequel, yes there is one in development and Steven Spielberg is directing it and it is based off the book the sequel book Ready Player Two also wrote by Ernest Cline.
This was fun to see in the theater, with Spielberg returning to the genre that made him most successful...and then it was kind of sad how one of those films wasn't the most popular anymore like in the past. The press about this was unfairly dominated by people arguing about the book being better, as if that really matters with a movie, and the references and "Easter Eggs" in the movie.
Absolutely amazed at your guys' reactions to all the media references in this astounding movie. And who better than the Spielberg himself to make such a masterpiece that not only provides amazing entertainment, but also portrays a clear message to our real world. Video games are meant for us to escape reality, but always remember what is truly real.
Also, not many people picked up on it, but the Holy Hand Grenade is a reference to a classic comedy movie, "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" which is a MAJOR recommendation for you guys to watch.
You guys probably should check out The Great Wall. It's an absolutely silly movie with Matt Damon fighting aliens in Ancient China but the action and the creatures and the visuals are fun.
This has to be the most enthusiastic response to this movie I've seen yet.The looks on your faces as you recognised characters and things from various movies and games..brilliant.Incidentally,loved The Shining the novel, didn't like the movie..faaaar too much was changed if not left out.
Search how to get all secret endings in Fnaf 3, and i will tell you players discovered all of them in 24 hours. If easter egg hunters were accurate in this movie, the keys woud’ve been found in 4 days.
My only Idea why nobody did is because The Oasis incentivizes not doing stupid shit by making you lose everything. But also alt accounts exist. So that makes no sense, then there's also the fact there would be cheaters and people who data mine games.
Quick note guys The spell cast to use the Orb of Osuvox is from the movie Excalibur not The Lord of the Rings. In modern Irish Gaelic, it's "Anáil nathrach, ortha bháis is beatha, do chéal déanaimh," which means, "Serpent's breath, charm of death and life, thy omen of making." As a long-time Spielberg fan, I have to say it's honestly refreshing when instead of trying to make a straight masterpiece, he just makes something that's just pure entertainment.
Plot holes? Where?
as a fan of the book, spielberg should be forbidden to ever adapt a book again....
@@Metzwerg74 You must be real fun at parties and have lots of friends :P

That moment was one of the biggest surprises! Out of everything we could ever expect…”The Shinning” was definitely not on our bingo cards 😂
Spielberg and kubrick were very close friends. Spielberg did the movie A.I. to honor Kubrick after his death

And with the exception of the name, it's a faithful reproduction of the exterior.

For those who don't know, the "spell" to activate "The orb of osovux" (or however it might be written), is an enchantment from the movie Excalibur, (Kings Arthur's story).
By the end of the movie, the witch Morgana (who used magic to stay young), used that chant to cast a spell against King Arthur, but Merlin tricked her into to using her power beyond a proper limit, which caused her to age very rapidly, (she went from being like 30 to end up looking like 90 in minutes)
In the end, she was killed by her own son who didn't recognize her.

The key to the Orb of Othovox is The Charm of Making from the 80's film Excalibur: "Anál nathrach,

Thank youuu, you're awesome too! Ari has been wanting to show me Iron Giant for the longest time so we'll definitely get to that very soon!
It was VERY disappointing. I couldn't get through the entire film; this is disposable 'entertainment'

You're dead on with "basic story"...
"What the hell is that?" Ari says when Art3mis chucks the thing into Mechagodzilla's eye.

When you said you appreciated Easter Eggs...I was like, then buckle up guys because you are in for the greatest Easter Egg movie ever made.

I watched this in IMAX theaters. It's a great movie. Glad you guys had fun watching this too.
Duuude that must have been such a fun experience! We had a blast for sure, such a feel-good movie!
7:44 My exact same reaction to seeing the DeLorean from BTTF in the trailer and the movie, amazing
The score is by Alan Silvestri (same as Back to the Future) so he did borrow from himself
One of my absolute faves
As a self confessed nerd, this was an absolute nerdfest.
It's Old Gaelic and means "Serpent's breath, charm of death and life, thy omen of making."
Hell of a movie for any child of the 70's or 80's...
Also, the thing Artemis threw inside Sorrento's Mecha Godzilla, it's one of the "Madballs".
This is my favorite Steven Spielberg movie.
Such a great uplifting Spielberg movie!
Killing it with the recommendations as always, thank you!! Adding it to our list!
Seeing Iron Giant vs Mechagodzilla was a trip to see. Can’t wait to see Denise react to Iron Giant
All the game movie character references and the old computer parts shown at the end - brilliant!
I loved this film, there are few references hahaha my favorite was from The Shining
Yesss, The Shining was one of our favorite moments for sure! Such a fun movie!
Just imagine the lawyers though.
"We'd like you to get us the rights to use some IP"
"Which IP?"
"Yes."
50:15 - it's not "low key", it's an actual reference to T2.
the best movie of the future guys watch more movies!!! Really you guys should watch Ultraman Geed or even Mortal Kombat 2021.
This was fun to see in the theater, with Spielberg returning to the genre that made him most successful...and then it was kind of sad how one of those films wasn't the most popular anymore like in the past.
The press about this was unfairly dominated by people arguing about the book being better, as if that really matters with a movie, and the references and "Easter Eggs" in the movie.
the neighborhood reminds me of Kowloon Walled City
Such a great comparison, you're so right!
Not sure if you guys are readers, but the book is even better with even more cameos and easter eggs. Awesome movie, and awesome reaction 😊
They should check out the audio book as it's narrated by Wil Wheaton!😊
The CG in this movie STILL holds up to this day!!! And this was only 75% CG. And it cost about 155-175 million.
My only question about this: you're seriously telling me no one ever thought of driving backwards in the first race until now?
Search how to get all secret endings in Fnaf 3, and i will tell you players discovered all of them in 24 hours.
If easter egg hunters were accurate in this movie, the keys woud’ve been found in 4 days.
My only Idea why nobody did is because The Oasis incentivizes not doing stupid shit by making you lose everything.
But also alt accounts exist. So that makes no sense, then there's also the fact there would be cheaters and people who data mine games.
Quick note guys The spell cast to use the Orb of Osuvox is from the movie Excalibur not The Lord of the Rings. In modern Irish Gaelic, it's "Anáil nathrach, ortha bháis is beatha, do chéal déanaimh," which means, "Serpent's breath, charm of death and life, thy omen of making." Its one of my favorite movies and I highly recommended you watch it you would not regret it . Also as Always great reaction this movie is one of my favs as well I even have a poster in my gaming room for it. I've probably seen it ten times so glad to see you guys enjoy it as much as I have.
I searched all your videos for this movie a month ago. I was shocked you hadn’t covered it especially with the plethora of pop culture references. I’m so happy to see you enjoy my favorite movie of all time.
Watched this about 10 times. Going to watch it again now. Highly underrated. An absolute awesome production, script, and the music.....that NAILS it.
I watch your channel because the two of you are extremely enthusiastic and you see lots of things that were in the story for people like yourself. Just wanted to say thank you for your time and effort to make these video clips. Many thanks indeed.
Now you know why they referenced the Bandwidth Riots. The amount of information being transmitted all the time to keep up The Oasis would be insane.
