Dave, I think the dome car is a Walthers, looks too good to be IHC. The CN loco is a General Electric. Might be a U 30 series. Often called U Boats. You have a powered unit mixed into your Union Pacific passenger train. It's a FA B Alco. Powered units had to be hooked together back when that version came out. Also called MU ed ( Multiple Units ). Our big train show in Kentucky is in 2 weeks. Hope I find some good stuff.
I got 6 b&o passenger cars like the ones you got for 3 bucks a piece, 1 baggage 2 coaches 2 domes and 1 rolling post office. Edit, I have some of those Milwaukee road passenger cars too! But a lot older.
I was at the show yesterday. Prices are on the up. The Proto1000 was the pick for me. I only walked away with a brand new Rapido TH&B freight car. Sold out on their web site. I was pleasantly surprised to see so many of their rolling stock for sale. I was amazed at my self discipline, given I had a full wallet.
8:38 The trucks are very simple. I have pico passenger cars. The trucks are much more detail and all wheels are nicely suspended, so that these remain in contact with the rails even if there some ups downs
Dave... Suggestion... look into "No-Ox-Id Special". I applied it to my track a year ago and haven't needed any special cleaning since. Very important to use it very sparingly. It stops oxidation of the track. Will not scratch like the cleaning car you purchased. Has been around for many years. Fantastic product! Really enjoy your channel and look forward to each new addition.
The black things at the end of the passenger cars are “diaphragms” or sometimes called “bellows “ On actual trains they connect so passengers can go between cars safely
Hi Dave, I have that exact track cleaning car and it does work. If you flip it over and look at that cleaning pad, you’ll see the build up on it. Although I’m not sure how much you should run it as it is abrasive. Jeff
Nice haul. The reefer is one of the Roundhouse old timer series of kits from years ago. These are late 19th/early 20th century cars. I collected a ton of them years ago. That will look right at home behind some of your older steam power. I think the gondolas are Athearn. The mystery loco is a General Electric "U-Boat".
Union passenger is looking awesome, we have the longest passenger train in the WORLD, 33 passenger carriages, every thiis longer here in OZ , we even have the longest straight line of rail to !
regarding the track cleaning wagon, I was under the impression you should clean the track first and then run and it will keep the track cleaner than normal. Looking good and nice purchases
I don't take much stock in track cleaning cars. The pad has to be really heavy to scour the rails, but then you probably need four powered locos to drag it around the tracks. The natural squeaking could be said to be "flange squeal" so don't oil them!
I found the CN U33C to be interesting. Even though the CN didn't have any U33C or the similar U36C locomotives on the roster, it's a paint scheme that I did not know that Athearn made. Also, the concave round pliers are interesting. I have the official KD trip pin pliers, but these pliers could provide an alternative to the KD Trip Pin Pliers.
The second Rio Grande "box" car is by Roundhouse/Model Die Casting. They are owned by Athearn these days. Also, the Milwaukee Road handled some of the UP's City trains on the first (or last) leg out of Chicago. They had some locos and cars (obviously) in UP yellow and gray just for that purpose. I believe it was either City of San Francisco and/or City of Los Angeles. It may say on the box ends. Some great stuff overall!
According to Wikipedia Starting in November 1955, the Milwaukee Road assumed joint operation of the Union Pacific's City of Los Angeles, City of Portland, City of Denver, and Challenger trains as well as the UP/Southern Pacific City of San Francisco. After assuming operation of the UP's services, the Milwaukee Road gradually dropped its orange and maroon paint scheme in favor of UP's Armour yellow, grey, and red, finding the latter easier to keep clean.
Ive got some Rio Grand gondola, boxcars and grain cars and they are bright orange. Not sure I can repaint them they’re so orange. I looked for a track cleaner and ended up make my own that exactly like yours. Good haul, again.
I have one of waltehrs track cleaning box cars, they work good but you will need a locomotive with a hefty weight to it to get it to pull or push around the track as the track rubber bites in well. I use a Bachmann EMD FT-A that came in a starter set for it. (Entire thing is weighted from top to bottom).
I need to follow you around at trainshows. You always seem to sniff out a great deal. My track cleaning car just cleans surface dust and i don't think its designed for heavy cleaning. Cheers!
The c.p. Dome care is definitely not ihc, maybe walthers, possibly bachmann spectrum. Also if you’re looking for more SOO Line i have some i’d be willing to trade or sell
Now as a South African railfan and a Union Pacific fan, Seeing all the lovely UP rolling stock that you have, I have to ask when are you going to get a Big Boy Loco???
The CN Unit is A GE C series not sure what type as the number brings up a CN SD75I which is cns version of an SD70MAC.. Santa Fe had SD75s but they did not have the I on the end.. but shared most external and internal similarities with the SD9043s and SD70ACEs, The macs coming before the ACE Series of SD70 Also I have that same CP dome car from the walthers line.. along with a dome car and they are nice and we’re the first proper additons to my mixed bag passenger train Also those UP coaches are Milwaukee road because the Hiawatha was at one point Joint operated between Milwaukee road and Union Pacific Also using that up FA1B in the train as a steam generator is a cool idea, i run my Santa Fe pb1 on the head of my trains as a diesel generator car behind the aux tender which is an old bachmann 0-6-0 tender.. and a idea for the future get a powered UP FA1 and make it so both can be behind the Pa1s on the head end.. and you’ll have a long up passenger train with 6 units which will draw eyes when the layouts fully complete, also yes that soo line unit is a GP35
Thanks for the information. I actually only used that UP B unit because it has horn hook on one side and knuckle on the other, and I needed a transition car, hahaha.
Do you have a job to make money and go to work? It was funny I watched a show in fact it was just one or two nights ago about your flex track and you’re all out and you gotta go to the hobby store and what are you gonna do And then people turn around and give you money and buy you brand new flex track I mean what’s up yes it can be kind of an expensive hobby, but it just sounds like you’re slipping hints on well I need this turn out and I wish I had some more track…. whatever you gave me an idea though maybe I’ll start my TH-cam channel one show people my engage layout and maybe I can get some help to finish it…. No, I’ll just get her done myself
After rewatching, I wanna see that Rio grande heritage unit and UP sd70 run as a consist

The Kitchener train show is March 17 th , your new layout and collection is starting to look great. like your videos
Great shopping trip Dave , new pieces for the layout

I Saw A Steam Engine Nice! by the Looks Of It You Got A Nice Haul👍👍.
The "what ever that is" is a steam generator car. It was added when it was super cold, to produce extra steam for the passenger cars
Union passenger is looking awesome, we have the longest passenger train in the WORLD, 33 passenger carriages, every thiis longer here in OZ , we even have the longest straight line of rail to !
I do believe that cylinder might go to that yellow box car w/ the metal floor and black cables.

Nice fine of trains. That Union Pacific is a good puller.
When track cleaner pad gets dirty, clean it with a track rubber and start again.

And I just realized it's a reefer!

Thanks for that, very interesting.
A superb selection of goodies Dave, the Walthers stuff runs great. That tool looks well handy, might have to get one of them. :)
Another great video. Thank you for sharing
Some nice additions to your fleet!
I don't know if you noticed - the upper handrails on UP1989 are all bent and wobbly.
Yes, I'm aware. Some damage during shipping.
I am envious of the soo. I couldn't get a good look at that table so I missed it completely.
2:00 that boxcar is a kit from accurail, the loose brake cylinder you found goes to that boxcar
Not to bust your chops, but it's built from an old Roundhouse kit.
@@jimmd68 just realized after reading your comment you're right, lol
@@shirleyschell4200 No harm done, I hope. Sorry to be "that guy"!🙂
I was also there! Picked myself up a couple intercity 125 coaches to add to my set. Was a decent small show. Enjoying watching your layout build!
I considered buying those 125 coaches, but I have enough.
Ive got some Rio Grand gondola, boxcars and grain cars and they are bright orange. Not sure I can repaint them they’re so orange. I looked for a track cleaner and ended up make my own that exactly like yours. Good haul, again.
McHenry makes knuckle couplers for the "IHC" cars 4 axle and 6 axle lengths. i got mine on ebay. nice haul!
You are the man, Dave! Nice Haul! Thanks for sharing!
Test the walthers pass cars on your curves!. May need some bogie washers and filing…
Nice catch Dave....
The UP and the Milwaukee shared equipment on a passenger train
I think those Gons are Athearn.
Great Scott! Thank You
Good pick up stuff

Model railroad purchases are like a maturing pallet. You start out with cheap draft, then go to hard liquor then settle out on decades old whiskey. 😅😅
I need to follow you around at trainshows. You always seem to sniff out a great deal. My track cleaning car just cleans surface dust and i don't think its designed for heavy cleaning. Cheers!
Very nice I’m going to a train show in a few weeks in my area
Very cool 👍🏻
Thanks
Thank you Peter for your continued generosity.
nice cars
Congealed blood red. I'm sure that's the official colour.
The Milwaukee Road is not UP. It's a separate company. 26:06
Gotcha.
Good luck. The Roundhouse 36' reefer is out of production
Great video
wonderfull
as usual dave nice haul you need more chuffers or a bigboy
Get That Rail Yard Done next thing to do.
when i ran diesels , they were all powered no dummies .
You can easily install DCC into that Walthers FA-1 i have a new york central one i did it to
The Gons are Athearns
Check the gears on the axles. Protos are prone to have split gears
Yeah, possible. I have spares, so I'll check it today.
The second car is a Round House 36' ice reefer
The c.p. Dome care is definitely not ihc, maybe walthers, possibly bachmann spectrum. Also if you’re looking for more SOO Line i have some i’d be willing to trade or sell
Late model AHM Passenger cars. hard to put Kadees on,
The engine is a U30C
Or U33C
Dave you forgot to run your caboose
You are correct. Oh well, better make another video then.
To clean the track someone said to use a hair roller foam to clean it lol
Pretty sure the IHC stuff was made by Mehano
You are correct. IHC was just the importer.
IHC's passenger cars were Rivorassi (same as AHM) the steam locos were Mehano and Rivorassi again like AHM.
Now as a South African railfan and a Union Pacific fan, Seeing all the lovely UP rolling stock that you have, I have to ask when are you going to get a Big Boy Loco???
One day I'll get one, but I need to get on with building the layout for now.

Also those UP coaches are Milwaukee road because the Hiawatha was at one point Joint operated between Milwaukee road and Union Pacific
Also using that up FA1B in the train as a steam generator is a cool idea, i run my Santa Fe pb1 on the head of my trains as a diesel generator car behind the aux tender which is an old bachmann 0-6-0 tender.. and a idea for the future get a powered UP FA1 and make it so both can be behind the Pa1s on the head end.. and you’ll have a long up passenger train with 6 units which will draw eyes when the layouts fully complete, also yes that soo line unit is a GP35

I couldnt spend a single dollar sunday. there was a couple CP locos but way too high priced for Walthers mainline
That's what I was thinking Robert, too pricey for the good stuff.
I model Milwaukee Road
EP44-9cw
U33c
