Fun fact, there are IRL tribes in history that have used club-like spear launchers. The Ancient Celts being one of these, who also had a stone-launching type, both looking very similar to those plastic tennis ball sticks that you can get to play with your dogs.
@@mrandrews3616 It is called an atlatal (I don’t know if that is how you properly spell it). It was a precursor to the bow because it did launch arrows. The special thing about it was that it used the motion of your arm and the natural lever action your arm makes when you swing down to launch the arrow. It took some practice to get down the aiming of said arrow that was launched from it, but it was pretty much the first use of range weapons ever used. Aside from throwing rocks and other things like that.
The little details like the one clone almost being hit or C3P0 having his own speeder are always so fun to find. Those spear hits are way more brutal than I realized too. You gotta do one of these on the Attack on Rishi Outpost. One of the best episodes!
The Atlatl or any other spear thrower, were created by tribal societies all over the planet, the oldest known being from Africa, being adopted by many celt and other bronze age or beforehand tribes from Europe, the Asiatic tribes in the west were the first for Asia, and the Eastern Asians only really using the spear thrower in minor skirmishes, due to the abundance of bow technology, and the Americans, North, Central, South, and Islander were using the spear-thrower, or for the Meso-Americans, the Atlatl, until the arrival of Europeans, at which both the spear thrower and few bow technologies were replaced as quickly as possible with rifles and metal blades, but in the jungles of South America, you can find tribes still using spear-throwers.

The most ridicoulus thing is that in Clone Wars movie two aliens have Palpatine and Kenobi bodies. One is hard to spot but in the scene when Padmé enters Zirro hideout you can spot a weird character: ugly molded ithorian head on top of Palpatine's body?
The droids standing like this at 2:40 reminds me of finnish soldiers during she winter war. Setting up enemy corpses upright in places where enemy will see them or stumble upon them is a good intimidation tactic
It’s interesting that at 10:46 you mention that weapon they are using, when you pointed it out it actually reminded me of a weapon used during the ice age (funny that it’s on a planet covered in snow) and it would be used to cast a wooden dart well over 100 meters or about 300 feet and with said throwing device it could help gain more leverage and velocity, I’m not exactly sure who used these weapons but I know that the Aztecs did, it also often caused arthritis due to the force needed to use it, I have a buddy who visited California recently and toured some caves that were recently discovered to have housed people (I think) about 50,000 years ago, could be wrong on the year though. Ps: if interested in said device you can search it up on the wiki it’s called a atlati Edit: I stand corrected the correct pronunciation is Atlatl not Atlati
They are pretty universal, being found on every continent except Antarctica. They got replaced by amentum in Europe (a leather strap preforming a similar role, although not as effective, 80m instead of 100m,it's also easier on joints and is easier to make), which remained in use for as long as the javelin itself.
20 going in and 4 coming back is a reference to the attack on the Death Star in a New Hope. 20 X and Y wings went, and only 4 returned (counting the Falcon). It was also referenced in Attack of the Clones when old man Lars talks about 20 farmers going after the sand people to rescue Anakin's mom and again only 4 returned.
I just watched this episode for the first time the other night, and this was such a fun video to watch. For all the Star Wars videos of crappy hot takes and ridiculous fan theories and overall negativity, thank you for posting such a positive breath of fresh air.
For the gunship pilots; how they get into the cockpit is though the doors the clones wait at when being deployed, you can see it in action in a Jar Jar episode when ObiWan, Anakin, and Count Dooku are being held for ransom by the pirates.
The scene you're talking about is in the episode "The Gungun General," and that cockpit seat was in a Nu-Class attack shuttle, not an LAAT gunship. Though, it definitely stands to reason that the LAAT uses the exact same mechanism.
Kinda wish this episode got its own arc, like the chairman did something to piss the natives so much that it united them to fight the Blue people and the clone troopers. The arc would be the jedi trying to prevent this war by talking to other tribes with little luck while the Republic base starts to spot natives scouting the base, maybe a few hit an run attacks during a blizzard. In the final stage if the arc the natives launch a full assault on the base while other groups tunnel into the base. The arc would end with the jedi an senator capturing the Chieftain to negotiate peace and with the Chief witnessing so many of his people gunned down by clones agrees to peace.
10:45 that's an atlatl (probably misspelled), one of the first ranged weapons invented by humans. It acts as a lever, letting you launch a spear with greater distance, power, and accuracy.
Wow I have never noticed that detail with the snow before that is so cool and such a subtle detail. Bravo animators. In regards to the casualties he says they suffered its likely that some of the troopers who got knocked off their bikes could have survived although injured as snow is very soft and with their armour would have saved them from the worst of it and the Tals kept up pursuit and wouldn't have gone back for anyone that had been knocked off since they seemed to be specifically after the Chairman. So yeah some of those Troopers are likely still alive just waiting for evac.
You should go back to all of the coruscant centric episodes and see what hidden details are in he back ground, because I bet there are a lot of details
10:53 That is an atlatl. Essentially its a holder for spears and it allows you to throw a spear farther and hit harder than just throwing it with your arm because it extends the length of your arm. So, basically this guy is able to staple people to the ground from a longer distance.
Something I spotted as a kid back in 2008, was the unique armor color pattern the dead clones have. We never see it used again and it looks awesome! Either an olive green or gray pattern. I wish we saw the design used again or on some action figures!
Yeah, the Glid Station Security Force clones look really cool with their gray markings. It is a shame they didn't get any screen time other than a few seconds as corpses.
@@pokeli2728yeah but if i think more about it, this would be probably overkill. (Hardcase with his minigun, cody with Waxer and Boil, Rex with echo and Fives) would probably kill the whole species on that Planet.
Doylist reason is probably that, with how many new models they were making for this single episode, they didn't want to have to do more than two Snow Clones (Rex and the standard 501st Trooper), and even if they did, there's a decent chance Jesse, Kix, and Hardcase weren't thought up yet.

10:40 It's called an atlatl (Nahuatl or Aztec for spear-thrower.) It was made by the Aztecs who used it to penetrate the armor of Spanish invaders. It was used in the Middle Paleolithic era (250,000 to 30,000 years ago.) and is still used in some places today.
I dare say this episode is a bit of a throwback? or just reminds me slightly to the Zulu (1964 film)/ the actual conflict as the as a far superior modern yet small force squares off against a much larger primitive force to the point there's very few soldiers & a lone officer left except we get the good ending with peace instead.
The spear launcher he uses is very similar to an "Atlatl". The atlatl or spearthrower is a hunting technology which was invented at least 17,000 years ago by Upper Paleolithic humans in Europe.

In the Chairman's defense, the Talz did massacre an entire garrison of at least 20-30 people without any provocation, do note that many of the corpses were clustered together and unarmed. Meaning those clones surrendered, were disarmed, corralled into a single room, then killed. Without a map we can't say for sure how far away this facility is, but it must be remote enough that it could be built and garrisoned for some time without ever knowing the Talz were on the planet, so it was benign at worst, yet this irritated the Talz enough to warrant the massacre of its entire garrison without any attempt to communicate. In terms of rules of engagement, a pretty strong case could be made that the Talz were the initiators of the war and became legitimate targets. Second, the chairman would have to explain that not only was this garrison massacred on his watch, but also how he had lost control of the entire planet due to the incident. It's sort of like a moleman comes round and kills your dog and now you have to let him live in your garage because he was there first.
I just realized that the dead clones in the base have an armor scheme. if you look closely a light blue is on parts of their helmets, shoulders, chests and thighs.
the club weapon that throws spear is base on a real life weapon. it is called An atlatl which is a slightly curved piece of wood, ivory, or bone, measuring between 5 and 24 inches (13-61 centimeters) long and between 1-3 in (2-7 cm) wide. that throws spears

The word your looking for at 10:45 is atlatl. It's actually a real weapon originating from Native American cultures
I believe the reason there are clones walking the BARC speeders is so that the can be safely loaded into a transport.
At 8:17 he says greedy speaks rodian but he speaks huttese.
The language that sticks out to me the most is Wookiee because it’s just a bunch of “GGRRAUAUAUAUHH” and “HHHRRRAAARRRRGH”
i never noticed the snow people using atlatls to throw spears. that’s epic
Will you cover rebels? Not as many big battles as TCW, but the space battles rule
You can see pilots leaving the Gunship cockpit in the bombad general episode where jar jar gets into the pilots chair.
You should really do the citadel arc btw great video one of my favorite episodes
The spear throwing weapon is actually one some ancient people used
12:51 still better than being one of those who died fighting the talz
the spear throwing club thing you mention around 11:00 looks a lot like an irl native american weapon, the atlatl.
10:48 the spear club thing. Thats an actual tool seen in human history. Forget the name and how it works but is real.
This arc kinda reminds me of the British V the Zulus, and definitely Rookes Drift
You should do a SW Rebels battle, like the battle for Lothal.1
5:45we seen these creatures in clone wars 2003 they were one of the Jedi guarding palatine until grevious showed up
The snow speeder in this episode is so cool, it’s too bad we never saw it again 😢. They made a lego set that had a lego version of it that I had a long time ago. I don’t have it anymore but I thought it was the coolest thing ever and I wish I had done a lego set review on it.
