This procedure worked for my 1998 GMC Jimmy that had tge ignitiin tumbler and housing mangled during an attempted theft. A resistor in a detacable 2 position connector across orange and yellow wires now becomes the key after the learning procedure described in this video. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
This works! Thank you very much. 2000 chev. In a town of 20,000 resisters can not be bought here, bought an ohm meter I didn't need. Waisted three days researching and trying things. This got me going. Fallow the procese carefully all the way through.
I followed this video and it worked! I performed this work-around on a 2001 Chevy S10 pickup with a 2.2L engine. The original key was lost, so a new cylinder lock and key was installed. During my experience, for the first two key on/off intervals I would see the security light blinking then go out after about 8 minutes. On the third key on/off interval, the security light stayed solid the whole time, even after leaving it in on position for 20 minutes thinking it would eventually go out, but it did not. However, I followed the video and did the fourth step with the key on/off for 30 seconds only and IT WORKED! IT WORKED! (Security light stays on when truck is running now, same as the video.) I am so happy and my friend couldn't be more thankful and relieved. What made the experience truly awesome was that this fix was done on my friends property that is miles and miles away from any Chevy dealer. Renting a tow truck to tow it out and pay a dealership to fix it was out of the question, but I was able to get it running after years and years of the truck sitting. This video staved a lot of time, a lot of frustration, and easily saved over $1000. Thank you! I hope my experience helps anyone else reading this.

It will work on a 98 This worked on my 98 S10 right at 10 mins it stopped blinking did this 3 times and let it set about 5 seconds and the 4th turn of the key it started and so far so good. Easy to follow video thanks for sharing sir

I used a 1000 ohm resistor between the cut yellow wire and the orange/black wire. I have a 2000 Sonoma and I changed the steering column for the tilt and cruise control upgrade. After the installation, it would only run 2 seconds and shut off. I first tried cutting the yellow wire and connecting it directly to the Orange/Black wire. That method worked after going through the “10 minute switch on” reset procedure but my security light stays on all the time. I added the 1000 ohm resister between the cut yellow wire and the Orange/Black wire. Now the engine starts and the security light goes out. I hope this is some help for you tubers.
i have a 2000 bagged s10 and the same thing happonned in the same spot but took out half the loom I rewired it all and the pass lock was so bad I tried this and it worked beautifly thanks again

I had this problem then someone tried drilling my truck. on top of the ignition where the wires clip in is completely busted away. I'm having a hard time fining this part. is it a ignition cylinder housing? and how do I replace it? everywhere I try to look it just comes up with the ignition cyilinder

Worked great thanks. Did this after my bypass module wouldn't work. I don't know why you wouldn't get a 5 cent resistor though, so the security light isn't on all the time afterwards.
thanks man fixed my 01 blazer i had to bust my ignition cause i thought i lost my key and then security light came on so end result 58$ new ignition and did the bypass and bam runs again
The security on my 99 S-10 Xtreme pickup has been "acting" up these last few months & I was able to quick fix it with other methods that only worked for a few days to a couple of weeks but the other day after leaving work it did it again & I tried this method & THANK YOU man it worked but I want to add the resistor & get the security light off so I have a couple of questions-First when switching my meter to ohms do I touch both probes to the bare yellow/orange black wire connection to get the right resistor value & second do I have to do the relearn procedure after installing the resistor-I will probably solder the resistor in & cover it all in heat shrink.
It worked perfectly , but gives a little fault to solve removing the air intake sensor , good contribution friend . my truck is chevy c -1500 98 Vortec
Good video. I have had used a similar method a total of 3 times now on a 2000 Blazer. I was told it has something to do with how I lock & unlock the vehicle. I did not put in a diode or reroute any wires, but since the last time I had to reset it the service stays lit. Not sure why it worked the first 2 times.

thanks my olds has been sitting for 4 years with brand new tires and fuel pump and intake gasket, bothered me. i had taken it to GM dealer 4 years ago and they said it wasnt the passlock system and they wanted me to trade it in and give me $500. but to good of a car so i towed it when i moved and it sat for a year. So GM was wrong this should of been a recall !!!! i needed the car real bad at that time so i bought one from enterprise anyway thanks

I assume the passlock was triggered when I replaced my fuel pump. the new pump won't run now but is getting proper voltage. Should this fix disable the passlock and allow the fuel pump to run again?

I've been tryin everything for the last week I watched this video and just did a quick connecter on the 2 wires and tried all the resetting but secur light never wud stop blinking so it didn't work..come to find out the quick connecter didn't splice into it like I thought so I did like u did and redone the 30 minute process and it fired right up and

I tried this and I tried three different resistors, I even tried replacing the main computer because the original was fried, I even did the relearn procedure and still, MY BLAZER WILL NOT START!!!!! I don't want to have to replace the ignition and BCM. The ignition has already been replaced, I'm so confused and irritated!!!! I've replaced every single part on the blazer, fuel pump, coil, wire plugs, new distributor, new cam and crank sensor, new everything!!!! Still no start, I've even checked all fuses and relays, if a mechanic shop can fiix it, then I do t k kbow what to do.

Derek Fielder Might be engine coolant temp sensor also. if your engine light is on you can take it to a local auto zone and they will read your fault codes for free and if it is that... I have watched 100 videos on crank no start condition and one video mentioned ect sensor and only one and it was the reason the car wouldn't start

I turn the key to the on position, the light stays on, doesn't flash. the light will stay on for the whole 11 minutes (I set a timer) and doesn't shut off. I've gotta be doing something wrong.
I've tried this several times, each time I got to the point of starting my car, the battery was dead. I bought a new battery, tried it, the security light never shut off. So, I'm guessing it was already done. I just needed a battery with enough power to start it. I was just out driving it. And I'm not super worried about the light. Clinton Hill would a 12vlt peanut bulb do the same as a resister.

Attach the yellow from the module to the black orange wire !! not the yellow half from the ignition !!! just tape that part up

no need for tape over light ...just reach under the column and unplug the passlock module .....no more light.

I don't know that PASSLOCK is my problem. When the key is placed in the ignition and turned, the SECURITY light does go out. I'm hopeful it's only the starter!

Problem was the starter but then the next day after changing it had problems with the SECURITY light where the car didn't want to start. Then yesterday no problems.

I tried this and I tried three different resistors, I even tried replacing the main computer because the original was fried, I even did the relearn procedure and still, MY BLAZER WILL NOT START!!!!! I don't want to have to replace the ignition and BCM. The ignition has already been replaced, I'm so confused and irritated!!!! I've replaced every single part on the blazer, fuel pump, coil, wire plugs, new distributor, new cam and crank sensor, new everything!!!! Still no start, I've even checked all fuses and relays, if a mechanic shop can fiix it, then I do t k kbow what to do.
Does the 99 have chip in key?My 98 Silverado does not have a chip.If 99 does not then i can fix mine like this...

Tried this, still don't start. Replaced about everything you can think of in my Blazer. Still won't start. Some days it starts, some days it don't. It's got a mind of it's own and runs when it wants to. Any suggestions?

Derek Fielder Might be engine coolant temp sensor also. if your engine light is on you can take it to a local auto zone and they will read your fault codes for free and if it is that... I have watched 100 videos on crank no start condition and one video mentioned ect sensor and only one and it was the reason the car wouldn't start

i am wondering if anyone knows what plug and pins at the computer is the vats? i put a diff engine and trans but the truck i took them out of has vats on the computer and truck they are going into dont have vats. I have a resistor to put in at the comp just need to know what plug and pins are

2000 s10 4.3 4WD same symptoms. This truck does not have a chip on the key, and no security light. Followed directions after studying this vid, NADA. Same old symptoms.

have a 2000 s-10 runs about a second or two then shuts off. repalced fuel pump and filter. and coils all sensors replaced computer replaced . snapon scan tool no codes goning to try this tonight bypass thanks alot wish i seen this earlier no security light on tho ??
I have one CHevrolet Blazer 4.3L year 2001. I have try with resistor and without resistor but security ligjt keeps on all the time , and the car start only 1-2 second and turn off . I have try with resitor 5k-18k and same problem. When i measure with multimeter and ignition on , yellow com from ignition and orange/black wire it give 7Mohm-11Mohm. I have bought finally 2 remotes new from china and one original from ebay used and i can not reprogram with computeres or manual procedure (. CAn any help me ?

I turn the key to the on position, the light stays on, doesn't flash. the light will stay on for the whole 11 minutes (I set a timer) and doesn't shut off. I've gotta be doing something wrong.
I think it was done from previous attempts. Turned my car off, figured, what the hell, I'll try to start it. It started right up.
Yep. Driving it as we speak. Runs and drives like it did before this happened, with the exception of the security light being on.
I've tried this several times, each time I got to the point of starting my car, the battery was dead. I bought a new battery, tried it, the security light never shut off. So, I'm guessing it was already done. I just needed a battery with enough power to start it. I was just out driving it. And I'm not super worried about the light. Thank you SO much for this amazing tutorial.
I have the same problem with chevy blazer s10 . I try all procedures but the security light keep on , not flashing and do not turned off. When i try to start car engine start one sec or 2 and tuned off , security light start blinking. Which maybe the problem?
oh ya my system has another type of secuirty system in it also a plug in chip under the dash and it didnt hurt it
