    I come by and visit when I have time. The depth of your technical knowledge is impressive. I like getting lost with you

    Ha ha ha! This is almost exactly why I bought an ER-301 (which showed up around noon today). Love it!

    Pretty cool. One question Neil: is there a way to monitor the already recorded loop while overdubbing? Maybe you are keeping the volume down so not to have feedback? I can't tell...

    Hello Neil, sorry to bother you with such a basic question but i just got my er-301 and have a feedback looper running on stereo linked outs 1 and 2. On channel 3 i selected a manual grains unit. my hope is to reference the audio playing in the looper and process in channel 3. i saved the feedback looper as a unit but dont know how to save the audio as a preset. was hoping to load under the manual grain unit on channel 3...i looked on forum and through you and Joes youtube vids...i really appreciate all your work and efforts on building this er-301 community.
    thanks in advance...

      heya!
      Just clarifying - so you want the audio file from the looper running in the manual grains? It should just be a matter of loading the same file for both. The Feedback Looper would update the file if you're recording into it - and the grains unit would reference it. Is that what you're after??

      @@NeilParfittMusic yes. That’s the way I understand it. I can there is audio showing in left and right inputs off to the left of manual grain unit but can’t get audio to come out or through it. It’s like it’s blocking it. I have read that can happen as I have seen in vids where you bypass that unit to allow to pass through it but don’t want that here.

      @@NeilParfittMusic I think perhaps I need to assign oscillator to trigger perhaps in grains unit? I manually fired it and still didn’t get any sound.

      @@supright44 aha! that's what's probably stumping you. The Grains unit is a generator only module, it wont pass anything to the left of it. If you have multiple things you want to flow through (and not be processed by the grains) - you can pop the grains into a mixer. The only way Grains can get signal is via the file buffer you assign to it.

      @@NeilParfittMusic thanks so much Neil. I appreciate the help. So if I assign audio from buffer already made it should produce sound when trigger is fired right? One other question if you don’t mind. I created a chain feedback looper eq3 and granular delay. I saved chain with audio as a name How do I find just that audio wav file if later want to assign to grains module. That’s it for me have a great rest of weekend and again appreciate all your wisdom.

    Thanks for this - I hadn't looked at Feedback Lopper before. It seems like it covers a lot of the functionality of Mannequins' W/ module. Is there a way to modulate the speed of the record or play head with any of the 301 loopers?

    • @NeilParfittMusic
      @NeilParfittMusic  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mark Birchall record head no.
      However, there’s ways to muck with this using existing audio players and granular sampler units. Hopefully in time - as that would be pretty cool

    What are you using to get your mic into the modular? I always have to make a recording into Ableton and then transfer it to my 301. It's really annoying.

      Chickenbone cwejman AP-1

      Neil Parfitt aw man I was hoping it wasn't Cwejman. Their stuff is never available!

      Neil Parfitt Hey man, very thorough series on the 301, thank you ( even though I don’t have one at the moment ). I’m the guy that bought your customized Wavestation EX a few years ago -- i never did get that broken keys fixed!

    i don't see the "zoom" option beneath my buffer, anyone know if this has been changed in a future update?

      have found the answer to my question in case anyone is curious: on latest OS you hold the fine/coarse button whilst using the encoder

    I couldn’t help but notice the random start wasn’t as random as it should have been (it started from zero a lot of the time). Any idea why? Bug?

    • @NeilParfittMusic
      @NeilParfittMusic  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      which spot are you talking about it?

    • @domtak
      @domtak 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Neil Parfitt 16:02 onwards... the random white noise seems to generate a lot of zero?

    • @bebop7
      @bebop7 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the white noise is half-wave (positive half setting) rectified so everything below zero (50% of the noise) is getting clipped at zero. hence ~50% chance of a zero.

    • @domtak
      @domtak 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Got it - thanks for clarifying-and teaching me what a half wave recitfier is :-)

      No problem! Although I presume you knew what a rectifier is :D I endeavor to make the type of posts I'd like to find if I was a complete noob looking for answers.
