This is so exciting! 2 days ago I was very confused about the ER-301. I tried watching this video and it didn't make any sense to me. It was so frustrating. I wanted to through the ER-301 out the window, no joke. I thought maybe I should sell it because it wasn't making any sense to me. Then, after keeping at it and continuing to practise even though it was frustrating, all of the sudden, out of the blue everything clicked. It's as if all my previously random and disconnected fragments of knowledge gained in those 2 "unfruitful" days suddenly hit critical mass and it was a eureka moment! The whole picture came into focus. When I came back to rewatch this video I understood 100% of it this time! Thanks so much for this Neil. I finally get the value of these videos. You're a legend 😎

Hey Jordan! I love hearing this, glad the floodgates unlocked! Usually it's just one thing hindering the 'aha!! moment' :)
What could I have explained better that would have helped initially? I might make a new round of these as thi vid is almost 4 years old :)
      Cheers,
      Neil

@@NeilParfittMusic That’s super cool of you to ask! :)
You always hear this question when it comes to the ER-301, which is, "What exactly IS it?"
I had the same issue and for me personally, to help understand this question, right at the very beginning, it would have been helpful to see a bird’s-eye schematic of a “patch” (essentially like the screen you go to when you access “Locals”) so that I can see what-we’re-going-to-build/what-it-CAN-build all at once. It would be nice to go through the patch while remaining on that schematic. And then, after that, going into the screen of the ER-301 and building that same patch. This would give me a better idea of what we are doing in the tutorial.
One of the biggest issues for me was just the fact that I was trying to learn v0.6 while watching your tutorials for v0.4. A lot of it looked so different! A lot of my frustration came from trying to bridge the gap of how to adapt the instructions from v0.4 to v0.6.
One other thing is that I’m new to modular synthesis (been studying hard for the last 2 months though!) and some concepts and terminology I’m just unfamiliar with. I think it would be very helpful for people like me to clearly understand what basic synthesis knowledge you need to have before you can even start with the ER-301. Like if there was a good reference on the basics that you could point beginners to and say, “Look at this, if it’s not making sense, you need to learn this first. Once you do, meet me back here, otherwise you’ll be lost.”
But like I said, once it clicked, these videos are so awesome! We all really appreciate them. And thanks again for offering to hear my thoughts. Cheers!

I see you picked up one of the 2HP limited edition Cat modules. You might have to plug that in when you start covering sampling. ;) Great work as always, Neil. Nice to see the updated ER-301 series started. I think these are so valuable to the O|D community and to people evaluating a purchase too

Hey , I know this video is 2 years old , but I just got my ER-301 and as I am loving this video , I noticed I can't find a slew limiter on my device as demonstrated in this video around 13:20 . Is there like a central hub or something where I can go and download more tools? Loving it so far!!
