This video is such a relief, I’m still waiting to find out if the suspicious nodule they found on me is going to require surgery. I totally flipped out at first but I think I’m more mentally prepared now.
Thank you for sharing this. I am. Going through this now. It's very scary. Everyone in my life are medical professionals and state "just do it", yet there were lots of questions and diagnostic stuff still happening. I too am trying to get pregnant and was worried about conception and breast feeding while on Synthroid. I am tired of hearing the medical view, the overtly happy view. You provided a real life, not so scary, not overly medical gaze. Thank you so very much. I had mental health issues prior to the thyroid diagnoses, and finding out the severity of my situation: my mental health and catastrophic thinking: it just ballooned. I am watching your videos to try and calm me with your priceless lived experience. Health care in Canada is ok, but can be scary or very crappy when in a remote rural area. I pray my post surgery results are as successful as yours. You really have me hope which is something no one has been able to gift me this past year as diagnosis developed and evolved. No amount of thanks can be given. ❤
My doctor told me to get thyroid surgery as i got malignant nodules in my thyroid, I was so afraid for the future after surgery, but after looking at you, I feel much better! Also, I'm trying to think that if i don't, remove it will be worse for my health to leave something thats malignant... I'm so glad that you share your experience 💗
Just had my TT yesterday, due to post pregnancy graves disease, I'm still at the hospital and watching your videos, really inspired me, luckily I did not had any issues with the parathyroid or the nerve. My goal is another pregnancy as well, I had two miscarriages in the last months, so the doctors indicated the surgery, thanks for the content
Thank you for this video. I had a TT 6 weeks ago. I get upset at times wondering what it means for my body and life with no thyroid this video gives me so much hope for the future.
Thank you! Your videos are very well done and quite informative. My surgery is Monday and I am anxious of course! Thanks for reassuring that life does get back to normal. Congratulations on your babies. You look very happy. 🙏🏽
Thank you for taking the time to make your videos. They are so helpful. Searching the internet for positive outcomes for thyroidectomies is all but impossible. It has been so disheartening. I have a large toxic/ hot nodule on the right side. And I have decided to have it removed, a partial thyroidectomy. I cannot continue with the hyper symptoms, ( hair loss, palpitations, tremor, swelling, voice changes and food getting stuck.) UGH! My nodule is tirads 5, and even though it is hormone producing, they say the cancer risk is very low. But to me, the risk of cancer is real. I just want it gone. My biggest concern is making my health worse, as well as weight gain. For a hyper patient, I am very much overweight. I really wish I had gotten the weight loss symptom. I am trying to learn to be ok with the thought of gaining weight. It's hard though. Sorry this was a bit of a ramble. But thanks again, I truly appreciate you. Very happy to learn you were able to have the family you wanted. I love that. I will be a first time Grandma in June.
😊 dnt worry, it was scary at first, I too had my right lobe removed two months ago due to cancer. But things doesn't turn out to be that horrible as anticipated. Just be calm and follow healthy diet. Brazil nuts helped me a lot. Weight gain hair loss etc are just hypes. I havnt gain weight and hair loss can be managed. Just stay positive, thyroid problem is not beyond our control. Good luck
Thank you for your videos , i just found out yesterday that they need to do surgery on my thyroid thats swollen really bad. Ive watched all your videos and i can say even though im still scared and worried its not as much anymore. ❤
I would say you have become more beautiful after the surgery... I got my surgery 5 days ago and I have papillary carcinoma for which I will get iodine therapy in december.
I had thyriod removed just over 2 months ago. I regret it. My recovery is slow . Still don't have my voice back . Got no apatite. No energy. Loosing weight rapidly.
I was diagnosed with Graves disease in 2021. Was starting to think I couldn't have kids just because it hadn't happened yet lol. Then we had a surprise pregnancy, found out while I was at the ER for a burst ovarian cyst. Miscarried at 10 weeks, blighted ovum due to Grave's, this past Sept. My endocrinologist said to definitely not try again until after definitive treatment, so I've been considering TT. You have no idea how encouraging it felt to play this video and see you holding that baby. I just burst into tears because it's like a glimpse into what my future could be. Our due date was supposed to be 04/24/24, so its been really tough lately. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. 🥹❤
Great to know that your are doing just fine! Can I ask if your diet can assist with providing sufficient calcium for your body as oppose to relying on calcium supplements?
My understanding is that it's pretty hard to get the necessary calcium needed from food alone (but wouldn't that be ideal!!?). Best to talk about with your provider.
Hi very informative video i take syntroid 137 mcg but im not feeling my best lately i was doing much better a few months back on 150 mcg may i ask what is your actual dose and have you tried another brand other than syntriod? I will much appriciate your answer Thanks!
I’m facing a total thyroidectomy soon. It sounds vain but I’m very worried about gaining weight. I am very active and work out often but at almost 50 it’s definitely been harder to lose weight - with a functioning thyroid! Did you find this an issue? Thank you!
Hi! I had a very positive experience. My metabolism finally corrected itself. I have a video that talks about it a little bit here and a few more follow up videos you might find interesting :) th-cam.com/video/kMfT2rQklJM/w-d-xo.html
Hello there, I was just wondering how long you waited till you started trying for a baby. How you broached it with your doctor and what aort of monitoring you needed. Im currently 9 weeks post total thyroidectomy with medication (synthyroid) now normal function. I had a thyroid storm poat surgery so was discharged hyper, glad yo have now settled. Your response is greatly appreciated 🙏
@@Laura-mrxrct hi! Great question. I believe I was told it might take nine months for my thyroid levels to be normal again and for me to be able to start trying to have a baby but I believe it was closer to six months post surgery! Best of luck to you ♥️♥️♥️♥️
@@thehappyartichoke3012 Thank you 😊 hoping to start trying again near Xmas time. You're in inspiration for me. Your videos have really helped navigate what can be a difficult journey. Hope you're doing well 🤗
I also had right thyroid surgery in 2023, and now I am in distress because the scar remains.😢 I am still using scar removal medicine like Hiruscar or Bio Oil. Can the scar be completely removed? Btw I am 19 years old.

You never know, you may actually find that once your thyroid levels are "normalized" that you actually do not gain weight! Best of luck to you

This is absolutely amazing! Thank you for these very informative videos.

Good luck to you, I hope in time your thyroid levels will regulate and you feel much better!
I also lost my voice after thyroid surgery last year. My left vocal cord was paralyzed but good thing it came back after 3 months.
How are you doing now Bonnie? ❤

oh, your story makes me tear up as well. I'm so sorry. I'm sending you lots of love. I'm so happy you have found some comfort here.
Thank you. Any issues with weight gain?

How’s your Trab/tsi level after total thyroidectomy? Did it become undetectable?
Thank you

I made a little video on caring for your scar that may help! th-cam.com/video/GdrBNpcaLhM/w-d-xo.html
Did you have to do RAI also? If yes any tips and trick going thru this, thank u so much
I did not need to do this, sorry I can't help more!
Nothing to worry
Drink lots of water
4 to 5 litres
Try to take some lemon or orange candy
