I grew up in Detroit and I saw George in high school. We called him Twiggy then because he was so skinny. He was a 6'7 point guard. Then I went to Michigan State and met a Jr. High School kid who was a 6'6 point guard named Earvin Johnson. Luckily I got to play with both in Michigan gyms.

Gervin was on his way out at that time. His last 2yrs in Chicago, he was old ! He and Jordan were cool, Jordan was just messing with him and he did respect him. At that time Jordan was playing with Orlando Woodridge, Dave Corzine, and quick explosive Quintin Dailey ! They were young and finding their way. If Dailey could have stayed clean from drugs, the sky's the limit. He was quick, his jump shot was sweet and his ball handling was pretty good ! Every now and then Jordan still mentions the deceased Dailey's game.👍👤🏀

George was on drugs when Jordan got there. He was fired by the Spurs for it. He didn’t have the fitness like he did when he was in the ABA. George was mentored by Dr. J and the Spurs gave him a red carpet treatment. Michael had every right to be skeptical and question George’s desire. George should have gotten help during 83-84 season.

If Gervin played with young Lebron instead of Jordan, he would've averaged at least 20 PPG in his last year. There's levels to this. Then again, it's obvious Gervin didn't like being called "old man" is it possible that Jordan said in jest? Like when Kobe called MJ old man?
