Im too young to have followed ice man's career but man watching clips of his fingerrolls is beautiful and statistically he averaged 30 PPG in his best 5 year stretch. Thats crazy!
Guy played all of the 80s and 90s; basically for the 1st half of my life Eddie Johnson was always on a team somewhere and always nice. Kind of like CJ McCollum, one of these very very good players that just fit well and was a total pro.
Gervin won 3 straight scoring titles, 4 total. Only Jordan (10), Wilt (7), IceMan (4), KD (4), and Iverson (4) have done it more than 3 times. 1977-78 *27.22ppg* 1978-79 *29.56ppg* 1979-80 *33.14ppg* 1980-81 *27.1 ppg* (3rd in scoring behind Moses and Dantley. Moses scored 2222pts at 27.8 ppg, Gervin 2221pts) 1981-82 *32.3ppg*
Eddie Johnson played a long time. He was always a good dude and solid player. Salute to him... and that poster they are referring to is dope AF.. Classic.
how that 91 team with eddie/barros/cage/ellis/kemp/x/mckey/mac10/gp/pierce/op/threatt/benjamin only won 41 games and lost in the first round will forever be a mystery
@@elai3147 Excellent deep roster in those years, they had a really really good '92-'93 season under Furious George Karl, almost reached the Finals! And of course #1 seed overall in '93-'94 but the playoffs were a sad story. 😁
I was 12 yrs old when i first saw and fell in love with him and his coolness and style i eas always of san antonio I'm stil slive by the grace of God.😢😮😅😊😢😮😅😊😢😮😅😊
Gervin so efficient! Very few non few PF/centers historically who average 20+ ppg for their career shoot above 50% and he’s one of them! If he shot 23 FGA per game for his career like MJ instead of 20 he’d go from 26.2 ppg career scoring avg to 29-30 ppg. Same with LeBron and Durant who would both be above 30 ppg (joining MJ & Wilt) if they simply shot more per game.
I remember when the Kings came to Sacramento. Theus was supposed to be the best guy, but Eddie Johnson was the guy who made things happen. Lakers, Blazers and Sonics were generally too much. He got out of Sacramento pretty quick, too bad for the Kings, he was good on both ends if the floor
Way more ppl played 17+ yrs then Simmons realizes even players who started in 70s, 80s or 90s like Kareem Malone (Moses and Karl both played 19 yrs) Stockton Hakeem Pippen Payton Otis Thorpe Horace Grant Juwan Howard Kobe Shaq Parish Willis Dirk Pierce Garnett Allen Oakley Kidd Terry Terry Cummings Joe Johnson Nash Stackhouse James Edwards Fisher Mahorn Mutumbo Dale Ellis Mark Jackson Tree Rollins Mark West Sam Perkins Vinsanity Andre Miller Terry Porter Duncan Igudola Tony Parker Cliff Robinson Buck Williams Jermaine O’Neal Ewing Kersey Just off top of my head all played 17-21 years.
The 80s small forwards....I would place against any decade. Julius Erving, George gervin, Alex English, Bernard king, Marques Johnson, Dominique Wilkins, James worthy, Larry bird etc!

- Most unstoppable move? Kareem's Sky hook. Best move? Hakeem's Dream Shake. Coolest shot? Iceman's finger roll.

Great E.J interview
Ice is a top five favorite of players I've seen. So smooth and a joy to watch.
Wow, this is a great interview 👏
I remember Eddie Johnson providing instant scoring to the SuperSonics!

I still remember that game winner against the Jazz.
Eddie Johnson was really good for the Sonics and Suns
Suns Color commentator , love Eddie!

As an olympiakos fan I would like a little bit about his time playing in Greece
man, Bill is a walking encyclopedia
Have you read or heard about his book - The Book of Basketball? Its jam packed full of great basketball information and takes from the 50s to 2010
He's commenting the Suns right? Awesome guy!!
Yes
Reggie Theus did have the soul glow.
I'm so happy to have seen Fast Eddie play in our Greek league in the 90s!!

Ice was a walking bucket. Brandon Ingram reminds me of a longer, somehow even more slender Gervin.
Ice man, the coolest nick ever
Bill said the guy from coming to America ??? You mean Eddie Murphy ? 😂
Phil ford rocky mount own
"Tatum could be Iceman with a 3 point shot" - Bill Simmons probably i havent watched the video
George was a bucket
Fast Eddie Johnson killed my Jazz several times in the day.
I'm sure he did, but that's not Fast Eddie Johnson in this video. Fast Eddie Johnson is dead.
Hale to Westinghouse vocational high school Mr Johnson!
Hersey Hawkins, mark acquire and the Dillard Brothers....etc!

Gervin was a SG
Oh yeah, that's rite! Although iceman did play some small forward before I read of how much he hated it. His natural position is the shooting guard.
