That's an incredible game. Mating with 2n+b against a n doesn't look to be that easy either and I'd guess that most people couldn't do it with best defense. That is a hell of a game.
It's a not widely known fact that as part of their settlement agreement, Hikaru acquired rights to use Niemann's beads. Hans is required to operate the remote control during Hikaru's games.
There are loads of problems based on promoting to Kt, but I have never, ever, not once seen it over the board. You're a really good narrator because you select great games, understand the value of humor in chess, and realize that the greatest games, like the Alekhine-Capablanca series, tell an epic story.
Wow. Games like this keep chess interesting and exciting. So many games are played by rote (out to a couple of dozen moves) that it's sort of boring at times. This was greatness.
A great win by Naka, I remembered the underpromotion when it came up. I once underpromoted to knight to prevent mate and got a draw which helped secure third place in an under fourteen blitz tournament. Thanks James.
The rarest underpromotion in an actual game of chess(even in blitz) is the bishop, even in chess problems, studies and puzzles is very rare to compose, American famous chess player but more notable chess composer Sam Loyd made chess problems involving bishop underpromotion
It was NOT a great move for Kramnik to push the pawn and give up his knight. Being down a whole rook that late in the game is just asking for trouble. Its why White could get away with an unconventional move like underpromoting a pawn, because he didn't need the queen back on the board to overwhelm the black pieces.
Thanks and oh yeah I've heard a few people say that, it's built into the default of the chess.com/analysis board, I guess I need to turn it off for next time
Wow Great Game by both players but Hikaru really shined in the endgame very masterfully done a checkmate with two knights and a Bishops would’ve been awesome stopping those passed pawns awesome Happy Thanksgiving James Thanks for the Game Have a Great Day Enjoy not sure if you celebrate I googled it said many in UK don’t but that it’s catching on a bit Either way have a great day Thanks
Thanks Michael and the same to you! No we don’t celebrate it here I’ve never met anyone in my whole life who does! Except Americans of course altho even then I never hear of any of it
@@epicchess2021 well I guess it has to do with the discovery of America which is why England doesn’t partake in it it’s just a day to enjoy a turkey dinner and give thanks a lot of families get together on that day but ok have a Great Night than thanks James appreciate you
Ripper contest! I formed the conclusion that they both got lost at times in that notorious 'deep, dark forest'. ;) On a more mundane note (and rewinding a fair way), Vlad's bizarre decision to play …b5? seems to have cruelled his marginal positional advantage in the early middle-game.
You voice has that pleasantness. Wheh i hear to videos of agatmator i feel a bit uncomfortable. His voice creates some discomfort. When you explain things i feel like listening to it for long time.
Maybe this game is part of the reason why Kramnik is so envious of Hikaru these days.
Am thinking the same way
Everyone can get accused.. why not hikaru? MAGNUS has been losing to sup 2600 players all year, Hans yet only Hans was accused..
Kramnik is the second most precise player of all time, just only behind Magnus. I can't see how he would have envy of him.
as they in pokemon... Ditto
this is brutal
usually, its Carlsen grinding water out of stone in endgames but that knight move was breathtakingly brave...
I dont think its brave if you see that its the only winning move. Genius? Definitely. Brave? More like non stubborn.

I knew we had a WW3 incoming between USA and Russia but totally surprised by how it's starting.
O was newer acused of cheating bcs i am so bad
Could Kramnik push the pawn at the end and make a stalmate if he takes a pawn?????
That's a black swan for sure
There is no “WW3” between two countries, that’s just war. World war is a war the involves the entire world

Source: trust me bro
😂😂 that made me laugh

That’s an awesome story wish I had similar but never done it before!
@@epicchess2021 not as impressive as it sounds I actually messed up an easy win and had to save myself in time trouble.
So they both play Chess... Interesting!
:)
Where are my meds? Interesting.
I've never seen a pawn promoted to knight, didn't know the word was underpromotion, great game thanks
Enjoyed the Yasser reference. "Push 'em baby!".

Cool thanks for the tip might do a couple shorts on that interesting
Damn,that under promotion was dope.
Good that there was no accusing in this game.

Beautiful game with a great ending. Also, very nice analysis

No worries glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching
Great games like the one above are like good books; I love it.
Epic game. Though the extra color effects were distracting.

At 08:00 b4 (instead of Qxc5) looked tempting to me...
Yeah would have liberated that bad bishop at least!
Fantastic game !
Thank you, great combination of serious chess analysis and providing an entertaining view on the current situation 😂
Thanks a lot!
Extra thumbs up for Ross interlude!

Yeah! And yeah absolutely right Nc4 better because he never got b4 in

It is all just a nasty gambit.
