Actually, Dimensions in Time is canon. It was a dream. The seventh Doctor described in a novel being chased around by all his old enemies in a soap opera.
Someone needs to make a TH-cam Poop of Dimensions in Time called 'The Doctor Fucks Peri In Front of School Children for Charity' I'm a bastard, I know.
Believe it or not, the BBC claims they went to Anthony Ainely for Dimensions in Time, but he turned it down. Anthony, however, says he was never asked. Who's right? I'm gonna go with Anthony.
Dimmeh Looming 5.Dimensions in time 4.Scream of the shalka(only because I haven't seen it). 3.The three doctors 2.The day of the doctor 1.The five doctors
The original idea was to do a ~10 minute story (two episodes, cliffhanger in the middle) with the 7th Doctor and The Brigadier trapped inside an old church, fighting off a horde of advancing Cybermen. The 30th Anniversary minisode was meant to be a short, sweet reminder of what everyone loved at Dr Who. Sadly the cash required for a few explosions and stunts fell through, Eastenders offered their set, cast and crew and it all went downhill until we ended up with... Dimensions in Time :(
Love this so much!! :D Was in stitches throughout! Really can't believe Dimensions actually happened, its bad enough the show had a bad rep when it got cancelled this deffo wouldn't have done it any favours :P
I read the script for Into the Dark Dimension. That looked awesome. But yeah, many Doctors were displeased with that, because it featured too much Tom, Pertwee was barely in it and McCoy found the villain more interesting and wanted to play that part rather than the Seventh Doctor.
"Well it could have been worse...could've teleported to the school down the road" *TELEPORT* "Oh calm down, it's only a penis" An excellent impression of Tony Coburn! ...I'll get me' coat.
The only things that are redeeming about Dimensions in Time are 1: it is mercifully short at barely 15 minutes and 2: it was all done for a good cause (in fact the reason it's not out commercially and never will be is because the people who worked on it did it as a favour and it wasn't designed to make a commercial profit for the BBC or those involved). What's interesting about it is it used a method to achieve the 3D effect called the Pulfrich Effect. The effect can be viewed looking at the programme while covering your right eye with a pair of sunglasses (in fact special 3D glasses were sold in the Radio Times and the profits would go to Children in Need). The method means the programme can be viewed in both 3D and 2D depending on if you have the special glasses or a pair of sunglasses, also the method doesn't work if the camera isn't rotating hence that motion sickness feel you might get while watching Dimensions in Time (I did try the sunglasses method using a crappy VHS rip from TH-cam and it does indeed work). There is a great video on it by Tom Scott who explains the technicalities behind it.
This is most likely going to age me horrifically... But I actually had a pair of the 3D specs they sold for 3D week; specifically the jungle ones that Jon's wearing in the Noel segment.
@@DimmehLooming Wow cool, I wonder if the glasses are actually worth anything these days (of course you can make your own with an old pair of sunglasses by taking the left lens out). It is quite interesting how the 3D effect was done but my god it must have been a nightmare to film (probably why most 3D is still duel imaging).
@@DimmehLooming Actually for the longest time (until I saw the Tom Scott video), I thought the 3D gimmick was either a scam or just didn't work on the crappy VHS rips, oh how wrong I was. Still doesn't make it any better, if anything I think I got motion sickness trying to watch it in 3D.
Do you miss being a girl Dimmeh? Because I know I already miss her....my favorite incarnation of Dimmeh, she was the "Shalka Dimmeh"! She needs an anniversary special now!
Alex the Muffin True, but I wish they'd used newly recorded audio for the 12 Doctors scene. Would've been an awesome cameo for him, Davison, Colin, McCoy and McGann.

This still makes me laugh so much Maybe for you 1,000 sub celebrate you should review the 5(ish) doctor reboot since it was a much better anniversary special than day of the new who doctors
I had an idea as to how this episode could be salvaged. They'd need to wait for the 60th anniversary though. As it's tradition to do a multi Doctor story then, they could use clips and even full scenes from this in order to have Doctors 3-7 appear without 3 being dead and without 5, 6 and 7 looking that much different to how they did when they were in the show. It'd just be little cutaways really. Maybe in the story, the Doctors are all working together, but we're mostly focused on the current TARDIS team with whoever comes back, then use this footage to cut to what the other Doctors are up to. It'd be a very tricky editing job, 4-7 would probably have to come in and redub some of the lines to fit the new plot, but I think it could work. It'd salvage that scene with 6th and The Brig which is an important part of Doctor Who history (although admittedly, less so now that he never got to meet Doctors 8 and beyond...Thanks RTD and Moffat for wasting the opportunity).
I don't think they even had CGI at the time this special was made. Those heads look more like they took images of their toys and blew them up... they look like plastic not quite right molded models of their heads.
They should of just reused stock footage from old episodes. At least that way the images could actually be moving instead of these creepy static images.

Got a source for the stuff about the head? Genuinely curious. As for McCoy being hungover? He'd be the only one. Everyone else woulda just been flat out drunk. :P

They had new audio for Hartnell.
Alex the Muffin I meant for the ones who are still alive.
Well they didn't need new audio for 4. 1 needed new audio since he said galifrey and galifrey wasn't a thing in the first doctors era.
He wasn't archive footage at the end of day of the doctor
