Pauline and Boom Boom would make great racers as well. And as for items, how about making the Giant shroom actually make you Giant instead of another booster? Add the Super Leaf item which lets you leap up and use your glider for a short amount of time. Toss a Poison Shroom onto the track to make an unfortunate soul touching it shrink as if they got hit with the lightning bolt. The paint brush from Mario Sunshine would make a great Oil Slick ability. BRING BACK FAKE ITEM BOXES! And don't even get me started on potential race tracks from other Mario games. Yoshi's Crafted World had so many courses that would make fantastic kart tracks, and could you imagine if they used the anti-gravity mechanic to add Mario Galaxy levels to the series?! Hell, anti-gravity itself could be an in-game mechanic if they would let you jump between track sections. Like if you could hop at the right spot and literally drive on the ceiling in the right spot similar to how you can drive up on walls! There is just so, so much potential that Nintendo's not touching on for Mario Kart that it makes me shake my head when people say that they NEED to extend the roster to the rest of Nintendo's franchises to make it stand out again.
@@SpiritThief it's a great game but it's nothing like f-zero. Also, wouldn't the ps4 version be better to recommend? Fast rmx is far closer and on Switch.
Also the first Smash Bros has Nintendo All-Stars in its Japanese title. Until now I thought all of them had that title in Japanese but I looked it up and according to Smash Wiki only the first one has that in the title.
I'm not sure whether you're suggesting that trademark infringement is a concern, but for what it's worth, I doubt it would be. My only concern would probably be customer perception - whether consumers *~think~* it's a knockoff. Personally, I definitely like the name Mario Kart All-Stars. It strikes a nice chord between brand recognition, accurate description, and eye-catchy appeal. You know what to expect but still anticipate it. Nintendo could simply present Mario as the founder or host of the races, and that'd be enough to justify his name. Plus it would integrate seamlessly with Mario Kart 8. 👍🏻 (For that matter, I need to get MK8 on Switch sometime. I've been occupying myself mostly with niche download titles....)
Perfect Mario Kart: -more Mario characters -more Nintendo characters -bring back double dash as an extra game mode (like battle mode) -interesting new items -single player content (the missions from DS were super cool)
I’m imagining Pokémon trainer riding a Tauros on the land tracks, then quickly switching to lapras to dive into the water, the Corviknight as the head to the air track, or Ariodos for the upside track, and now I’m in
One of my biggest gripes with Mario Kart is that half of the game's stages are recycled. Sure, I like the nostalgia of playing the old SNES tracks in HD, but it feels to me like the game is only half-new. If Nintendo did change the series to include their many fantastic franchises, I think it would be great to break away from all of the Mario-themed levels and explore the other franchise locales. It would definitely make the series feel fresh for me.
Hello, fellow Dragalia Lost enjoyer. As someone who’s only played DS, 8, and DX, I often don’t even realize what’s an old course and what’s new due to how much they revamp the retro tracks in 8. I totally get what you mean when you say the game feels “only half-new,” but for me personally, it’s always exciting to see which tracks are re-imagined in the current game’s style. While Cheap Cheap Beach and Tick-Tock Clock are very similar to their DS versions, for instance, they also feel decently new thanks to the advancements made between DS and 8.
@YeetySickles I've seen Mario Kart Ultimate thrown around a lot and it won't work for two reasons: A. Smash already has a game with the Ultimate title, so it would feel lazy. And B. Mario Kart Ultimate sounds like it's bringing all of the classic characters, items and tracks back when it's really starting a whole new series.
“Mario Kart All Stars” It has a nice ring to it. It implies that more Nintendo characters are a part of the game and it doesn’t change the franchise name.
“Mario Kart Super X” “X” for being the 10th game of the series “X” also for being a crossover “Super” to denote the scope of the crossover “Every Track is Here!” would be nice too. 😊
Arlo starting the video with "welcome back my talented and inteligent friends" hit me hard man. That's a more positive greeting than the one my family gives me
@@FieryMeltman He half-did though. He said 'unlike in Smash Bros you don't need to give characters special skills, just a weight, some animations and voice lines and that's it!" (Paraphrased) So... not totally inaccurate, as his "Special skill" idea if for the concept of future-proofing the series... as... well... that's what you want to do most, give a series the lowest likelihood of growing stale over the longest period of time. It works well for Mario Kart as it transitioned from 2.5D to 3D and then got a new way to play (GCN), had classic 2.5D style (that's what I'm just calling the over-the-shoulder style but definitely not a 3D game for the SNES and GBA titles) that also transitioned into 3D once the DS/3DS titles happened, we eventually got motion controls too, the Karts became more elaborate from GCN era onward, the stats got more in-depth, we got more characters, kept roughly the same number of tracks, got revamped old tracks back in newer games, received DLC for the first time ever, and like... each iteration gave us something new, it really did, like... the GBA title(s?) gave us the game on the go and as the hardware improved, so did the games, and that in and of itself is amazing, but because of this they've managed to future-proof the series. Make everyone excited for each installment.... of course now that we have the anti-gravity the only options are to Diddy Kong Racing it up OR add more characters/items/abilities to the games...
I think they should get franchise exclusive items (like Zelda and Link getting the same items). The difference between Mario Kart and Smash Bros is that Smash Bros can easily depict characters in their true sizes. Imagine Ridley on a kart or Samus. That would be weird. They are though characters. Great for fighting games. They'll look out of place in a wacky kart game.
Mario Kart: All-Stars is the name I've had in my head for this theoretical Nintendo Kart thing for some time. Keeps the brand recognition and keeps it short, sweet, and to the point.
I’ve always had this awesome idea of a Metroid track. There you are, racing through interior corredors, you take a hard turn to the right, and suddenly you’re racing down the hull of a space frigate falling apart upon reentry. Meteors crash onto the track and explode, and you go back inside. On future laps, pieces of the track have a literally falling off and are floating upwords. They are like solid walls on lap two and completely missing on lap three, making pits you fall into.
Paratroopa and Petey from DD DK Jr from Super Wiggler and Honey Queen from 7 And then we get long awaited characters like Kamek and E. Gadd. Or the one I really wanted to be playable, Blooper.
I know the feeling, but I think that a new Mario Kart for switch is unlikely because 8 is doing so well, and also I think it would be a shame to split the playerbase between the two games.
Two things: 1. I think that if it did become a “Nintendo Kart” then they could potentially no longer have the cool unique locations they have for tracks. No more Sunshine Airports or Super Bell Subways or Cheese Lands. It’d be more focused on getting familiar places to represent all the different franchises there. I think they should just continue they way they’ve been doing it, just with even more non Mario characters and locations with the focus still being on Mario. 2. As for names, either Super Fast Bros. (I think you’ll understand that name) or Mario Kart: World Tour (a name that shows that Mario Kart is being taken to other franchises, or “Worlds”).
There's nothing stopping them from keeping it mostly Mario focused and just have one special track per guest character, and just adding a bunch of guest characters. Besides, for each game (or DLC bundle) they release like that, they can make a different character unique track for each, and cycle through while still keeping a solid lineup that fans would love. Admittedly, that might increase the number of tracks per game, which could be an issue for Nintendo's budget, but if they get even more popular and sell even better, maybe that'll encourage them to work much harder on new features and such. (i have no name ideas to add at the end of this)
"Mario Kart: Double Smash" Bring the two driver mechanic back and let the co-pilot have the ability for that "special move" you mentioned :) so it balances out
8:39 you mention this idea of each character having a unique ability as though it's a super farfetched idea, but Nintendo actually did something extremely similar in DoubleDash, where some character pairings had their own unique special item relating to the characters
@@DreamcastSoupYT well, thumper and many other indie game have actually being able to do the high speed racing style quite well, I dont see how nintendo could much better.
Nintendo: "Super Smash Bros. is the most ambitious crossover in history" Also Nintendo: "Smash Bros., Nintendo Kart, Galaxy Tennis and Mario Party & Co all take place in the same crossover universe"
I’ll take this and raise you: A full fledged Nintendo rpg, kind of like World of Light but better and more fleshed out using most if not all Nintendo worlds, and the major Villains are trying to take over the Nintendo world
@@destroyerofeps2714 well, I think we could have something akin to fighters and supports, so like say the game would have teams of 5, so you have for example Ninten, Kirby, and Dunbar as attackers. They’ll be brawlers with their own fighting style based of their canonical powers. Then lets say you have 2 supports on like Tom Nook and Mipha. Tom Nook could be in the back and maybe he provides support like stat boost or after battle you get extra experience or items, and Mipha can maybe heal 25% a limited amount of times per battle, and then they can have weaker attacks but are able to fend off like Mipha has her trident and Tom Nook can throw bags of bells from a distance. That way characters who aren’t really fighters can be incorporated in a way that makes gameplay a bit more strategic
They should call it something along the lines of Mario Kart: Portals. Here's why: For this to feel viable for me, they'd need to add an in-universe explanation as to why other ip-characters are there. I kind of like the thought of Mario Kart and the different sports games being more or less canonical, just some friends hanging out and competing. That idea falls if other Nintendo characters are there, so they would need to add at least some dimensional portals that puts the other characters there. This would also mean they have a free new mechanic that doesn't change up the gameplay too much, with dimensional rifts or portals being part of the courses, or even letting you switch between courses between laps by making the goalpost be a portal. So lap one you're in Bowsers Castle, lap two you enter a portal to Wario Stadium, lap three you end the race on the new course Kirby's Dream Stadium. You might even be able to choose which courses to switch between in free play mode. I'm actually getting excited about this idea now. Give us Mario Kart Portals!
They could make a whole course where you go through the portal world, seeing stuff from the different nintendo worlds, or one with a bunch of stuff from the different worlds is all jumbled together, kinda like Mario + Rabbids. They could make an item that switches the positions of 2 different racers, but balance it so that they have to be close together and it could screw you up too. It could have a story mode where by the end you're playing as Rusl from the Legend of Zelda: Twighlight Princess riding on top of Samus's gunship (which is being piloted by olimar) chasing down some x-parasites taking the form of Giga Bowser! Umm... That might be a little too wishful... So...... Wait, it could have event mathes from Super Smash Bros. Brawl!
"Mariokart- OtherWorld Tour" nice and simple well playing off an existing racing concept, well also implying the crossover... Hell the gimic for that game could be something like... Space gates that connect multiple tracks together from other series... In a kinda psudo xourse creator, set it up with portal mechanics and it could be seemless and awesome
Imagine how awkward it would be for the Fire Emblem characters, since racing karts didn't really exist in medieval times Edit: I've finally played TMS. It was horrific.
Marrqi7 wini About the Link situation... I think TLOZ is more of a half-medieval, half-modern setting. In BOTW, Link and I guess Zelda (I don't remember since I haven't played in a year) have phone-like devices. About the crossover... as a big FE fan, I think I'll check it out.
@@KazuhaEien They literally have the bike from Mario Kart in BotW. Not to mention that Steam Boats, Photography, Trains, Androids, and what is essentially computers appears everywhere in the Timeline. The most Fire Emblem did in term of modern technology is in Three Houses with a technologically advanced civilization with their own futuristic city and missiles.
That special meter thing you mentioned with character-specific abilities started to get my gears turning Inkling's special could be the Super Jump: the kart disappears and you're launched into the sky in squid form, maybe about as high as the ramps at the start of Dolphin Shoals. You move a little faster from when you were on the ground, and you execute the Splashdown special from Splatoon 2 when you're about to land, which causes an explosion (maybe about the size of a Bob-omb; bigger if landing from higher up). Link's could be the Spin Slash: He pumps his sword-holding hand to the sky (which would be a good signal to GET OUT OF THE WAY before it's too late) and then does the infamous move. It would cover about twice the area of a Super Horn, and the initial sword pump can break Blue Shells (or the shell could interrupt the move instead since you probably wouldn't need it if you're in 1st). Edit: Oh, just thought of another one! Ok so a huge gimmick of Metal Mario in 64 (the game he debuted in) is being heavy enough to crush things flat, right? What if his special is him hopping up into the air, and quickly slamming back into the ground? It causes a shockwave, and racers right under him get flattened. There is really so much you can pull from the more you think about it huh
An additional idea: imagine if characters from different franchises had access to different items. Even if they’re just reskins of existing items, say a pokéball in place of a green shell, great ball in place of a red shell, and master ball in place of a blue shell. Just imagine..
I would really rather there not be any non-Nintendo characters. They’re already using Smash as a third-party dumping grounds, let us Nintendo fans have this crossover to ourselves
It'd be great if they make one with a campaign mode that pits the player against illegal street racers at first, and maybe then Captain Falcon takes the player under his wing in order to groom them into being the next Captain Falcon in the Grand Prix. I liked GXs garage and machine builder, I hope they would incorporate that too.
Considering Star Wolf and James McCloud are already in there, they could easily expand upon the universe with more cameos. It's ripe for success but Nintendo just doesn't want to see it!
Whats that sports island game with miis for switch that came out and got no press? I saw it at my local meijer for months and was confused why id never heard of it. Maybe it was all my imagination
Here's a couple character ideas: Pit in the Lightning Chariot, with a course in Palutena's temple. Mega Man on the Rush Bike, with a Wily Castle course. Any Pokemon trainer on a normal Bike, with a course around literally anywhere in Pokemon, maybe a gym stadium? Basically, there is no limit to the crazy ideas that can come out of this game.

(For that matter, I need to get MK8 on Switch sometime. I've been occupying myself mostly with niche download titles....)
Perfect Mario Kart:

-more Nintendo characters
-bring back double dash as an extra game mode (like battle mode)

Let’s all be honest here, Captain Falcon should’ve been in Mario Kart a LONG time ago.
I mean, he KIND of is when you unlock the Blue Falcon and get a Captain Falcon Amiibo, not the same though.

MrBreezy It was a bit sad that Captain Falcon wasn’t in Mario Kart 8...His car makes cameos in other Mario Kart games including 8.
ProfessorVince yeah, they also had Big Blue and Mute City as tracks in 8 Deluxe.

Two things:

Brawl!

Inkling's special could be the Super Jump: the kart disappears and you're launched into the sky in squid form, maybe about as high as the ramps at the start of Dolphin Shoals.
