Green is my favorite pop singer his voice brings great memories ,Green is an essential member in the pantheon of great memorable Vocalist, unique beautiful soft voice.
Scritti have just toured again (Autumn 2021) and quite brilliantly; but I think the venues should have stipulated in the contracts that Green needed to perform in this memorable gear.
This must have been part of his creative nervous breakdown after Provision in 1988.. this and another ragga single in '91, then nothing til Anomie & Bonhomie in 1999
I like this cover but it really is sad to see Green like this. No wonder he hit rock bottom right after, this is the most painfully 90's video/song I can think of. The self awareness of the 80s albums is completely lost here.
based doggie - I was 21 in 91, when this came out, and had been a Scritti fan since 84. I remember seeing this at a local pub and almost falling over laughing - Green in a BALL CAP? It was silly in the moment and I guess whatevs, he remains a sonic genius. But yeah, this was corker of a campaign.
I really liked them in the 80's but remember seeing this video in the early 90's and thought it was awful then and still do now. WTF is that outfit all about?
The dead Beatles are rolling in their grave on this one....The live ones are fighting a gag reflex....this is an abomination....repent Scritti Politti, repent! Turn away from Satan as he is obviously the author of this remake!

Shabba! Absolutely majestic. The 12" was my favourite record for months. "Mr Green - Step up"
That big speaker on a spring haunts my nightmares

The audience would get confused and think they'd gone to a Vanilla Ice gig
Their music will never age
I like it! Green did a great job on this song!
Awesome, brings back great memories of a great era for music. Thank you for uploading!
what a gem!! thank you for posting this awesome tune!
This brings back memories of when i was in secondary school 😊
Totally addictive tune from 1991.
BOM-BA-DENG
Green was a MASSIVE Beatles fan growing up.
Got me into scritti this tune .Bomba Jing ! Shabba was dropped from the U.K. like a hot rock after his “the word” interview 🤦🏻
Mark Lamarr shut Shabba down permanently 🤐
Brilliant fusion
shoulda done another lp like this . gr8 voice.
Produced by Bef, Martin Ware and Ian Craig Marsh of Heaven 17 fame.
Still a favorite....
wow -I remember this and I loved it I had no one to dedicate it to though lol
Trust Green Gartside with assistance from Shabba to take this remake to another level. Should have been a big hit!
Love this song
Makes me feel young again! haha
It breaks my heart to see Green dressed like that
what? you mean like Lindy Layton...
Dressing "down" is recognition of huge socio economic CLASS gaps. Lower classes sense great inequality. Green is wise to do this.

I agree 100 %.
Know what u mean,twas a certain era dough.More comical than tragic.Bet u didn't expect a reply after 5 years 😉✌️❤️
I'd love to know what Mccartney thinks of this, actually I think he'd love it.
Really only 29k views...???
I can't quite make out what he's saying after 2:40, anyone got a lyrics sheet?
excellent !
Bit more high pitched than I remember from the 90's......could've been my dad was playing the record at 33rpm instead of 45rpm...hahahaha😅!
Hey, at least he ain't got the hood up!
My childhood memory

Still better than 99% of any mainstream pop today.
I can do you three better:
Anything by Backstreet Boys, N'Sync, or New Kids on the Block.

Not Gartside's finest hour...

Just my lyrics nice
Only track by Green I didn't like!
Or how to transform a masterpiece to a piece of shit... So sad.
It's hardly a masterpiece originally
No wait....Satan would have cut a cooler track!

not to keen on it then
Much better than the Beatles' original - more momentum, better vocals, and more innovation.
I'm one of those rare people that always thought the Beatles were shite (Muddy Waters had BALLS) so I can't conclude if this is an improvement or not.
