I contacted David Gamson on Messenger (yeah we are friends at FB) and I told him how much I love the track. The immediate reply from him was this: This is What re said: ”Thanks Daniel! Much appreciated. Funny...at the time we were not feeling that song (which is why it ended up as a b side). But many people do seem to like it. The repetitive lyric drive me crazy at the time....now I kinda like it. Anyway....definitely don't remember the chords. I could probably figure it out if I take a listen. Stay tuned.” He’s really a great guy and what can I say… having a word with my idol back in time was really something special 🤩. A World Come Back To Life will always be my favorite Scritti song ❤️…
Hello! Thank you so much for your review of this great song that is sadly rare. I am sorry about the stupid question, but do you maybe know when Mr Gamson' s birthday is? He is the only famous person whose birthday dos not appear on the whole internet. He changed the music along with other artists, it'd be nice to write about him. Thanks again! Giorgio
I have it on the cassette B-side of "Oh Patti." I picked this up at Tower Records in San Francisco back in the early 90's, on one walk up to North Beach one Friday evening. I thought I found Gold!
Should be included ON Provision which was a highly underrated album. It would have complimented tracks: Lovesick, Overnite, All That We Are and the beautiful Oh Patti.
Both great songwriters,They were feuding in 1988 when provision and From Langley park to Memphis were released,Would be great to hear two of the best get together.
Surely one of the greatest B-sides of all time (to "Boom! There She Was"). The care Green-Gamson-Maher lavished on every keyboard riff and drum hit is just awe-inspiring, listen how they shaped the envelope of every sound to get out of the way of the next phrase (e.g. just the seven seconds 2:22 on), without it feeling choppy or rushed. Truly a "microscopes at 100×" effort. The song is on the Scritti Politti fan site bibbly-o-tek, but get the 12-inch, I guarantee you'll cherish it.
@@bandfromtheband9445 Yeah, the one and only :). I'm into doing a "beat" with samples from "Oh Patti". It's gonna be groovy and I hope that David gonna like it :-). I'm gonna send it to the Scritti Poiltti FB group when it's done...
Ranking Number 1. Supreme, this is just impossible that music can be this future impact , way Ahead. Of time ..... infact this vibe doesn't belong on this plannet . Sounds of the Gods ..
bitleyTM :-) Absolutely! The music he made still sounds ageless. One of the very greatest. i would put him up there with T Power (Self Evident Truth Of An Intuitive Mind) and Seven Lions (Days to Come). All musics of true greatness! Best
So many hits from this group. It could be raining outside and thunderstorms, this song brings blue summer skies. Great memories from this song.even the b-sides rock.
Arif Mardin (R.I.P. 2006) produced Cupid & Psyche 85's "Wood Beez", "Absolute", and "Don't Work That Hard", but around Provision Green Gartside and David Gamson produced everything (plus John Potoker on "Best Thing Ever").
What a song , never heard it before was confused cause it has the artwork for provision.I absolutely love scritti. My favorite group of all time. The production is so tight n funky love .I was obsessed with them from the age of 9 when it came out.My first love was prince with the parade album an then purple rain when I caught up.This really ups it for me in terms of production when I listen now.Born 79 real Walkman child xx
It's a gorgeous song. I wonder if it would have been better to close the "Provision" album with this song, rather than "Philosophy Now." Just a thought.
@@jamesgoodman9390 *should have 😉 . It's such a strong song, but maybe Scritti Politti felt it was too cynical and similar in feel to "Lover to Fall". Provision is such a lightweight sweet album without the acid of this kiss-off, the album feels unsubstantial despite the punch of "Boom! There She Was" and perfection of "Overnight".
"A world come back to life" from the US version of "Boom there she was" and ""First Boy in This Town (Lovesick)". The ultimate Scritti song, from production, lyrics and groove.
Bought this on 45 when it came out and absolutely LOVE the production values from this period that you so perfectly describe above. Can you post the 12" version here?
I don't know the info, but applause to you Pontus! The Scritti Politti sound here reminds me of Trevor Horn, I suspect maybe DX7 and Fairlight, maybe Simmons drum pads
If you read Wikipedia and listen to some interviews by David Gamson, Provision was pretty much a Yamaha DX7 and New England Digital Synclavier album. Here's a list of all the equipment used for Cupid & Psyche 85 and Provision. www.gforcesoftware.com/artists/interviews/scritti-politti-meshell-and-beyond
The version on the B-side of the 12" is 3:48 long, so it's probably "the same" as this track. I'm referring to the quality of the sound of a good vinyl pressing played on a decent turntable (e.g. Rega) through full-range speakers, it's somehow very special. I think.
You peel this song back in layers... you notice theres no real repitition .. always a slight variation...a sneaky cymbal here and there...the synth changes....percussion changes backing singers....i wish somebody could get Green to talk about his music just as they did with Donald Fagen and Walter Becker.

A World Come Back To Life will always be my favorite Scritti song ❤️…
complete synth pop perfection, i hope green decides to play this live with the new band.
I can definitely hear the synclavier in there. It's definitely prominent throughout the album.

That is the story on "A WORLD COME BACK TO LIFE" being left off the album . Probably because it has "let-go drive" .
This is the ultimate Scritti Politti production. Gamson nailed it totally 😍. Chord progressions, in and out of different synth sounds etc…
One of Scritti's best songs ever - amazing it was a b-side! (Wanna hear the b-side, b-side, b-side...)
Its a beautiful song! Its pure Dave Gamson!
And Green.
I have it on the cassette B-side of "Oh Patti." I picked this up at Tower Records in San Francisco back in the early 90's, on one walk up to North Beach one Friday evening. I thought I found Gold!
Wonderful 80s group that had little airplay in the U.S., the band leader was, believe it or not, stage shy, though he had an incredible voice 😊
This was THE sound of the 80's and it still sounds incredible.
Should be included ON Provision which was a highly underrated album. It would have complimented tracks: Lovesick, Overnite, All That We Are and the beautiful Oh Patti.
Oh my gosh Green should sing with Paddy Mcaloon what a treasure that would be ✨✨ x x
Paddy was a fan and I'm sure Green liked Paddy. th-cam.com/video/9V33HXaEPFg/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=bisonrav

It's not a hook in this song, it's a spear!! Scritti brilliance!!!

This is brilliant stuff, wonderfully arranged, delightfully catchy, with a bass line Mark King would be proud of.
Bass was played Marcus Miller on this B-Side only track🎸
Listen to the bass here... 2:56-2:59.. It's so so groovy... LOVE IT.. By the way. This is the ultimate Scritti Politti song..
Oh yes! It's Pure Dave Gamson's groove!

Dan Ceder I love that bass line in Wood Beez too
Love the hook (would you know) Green sung there very smooth
This is a perfect 80s song! Undiscovered gem which everyone would love
Scrittti Poliitti sounding so fresh. I'm not going anywhere!
This is a great song. It should have been a mega-hit!

This is sophisti-pop at it's VERY BEST!!
Yet another brilliant song from Scritti Politti. They were amazing.
Mr Green Gartside, one of the best songwriters of all time! Sounds so fresh!
David Gamson, one of the best synth arrangers of the 80's! Sounds so fantastic! ;-)
bitleyTM :-) Absolutely! The music he made still sounds ageless. One of the very greatest. i would put him up there with T Power (Self Evident Truth Of An Intuitive Mind) and Seven Lions (Days to Come).

Best
Wicked chord progressions and a hook that is permanently wedged in my brain!! More SP brilliance!!

So many hits from this group. It could be raining outside and thunderstorms, this song brings blue summer skies. Great memories from this song.even the b-sides rock.
"Take it That".....love that part. Can't stop playing this song!

What a voice Green.
incredible rich production
Outstanding. I hadn't heard this before.
They really made sequencers work for em

The Steely Dan of the 80's
Great song by Green/Gamson,too good for a B side, wish it was on provision, but we can hear it on here, great track Green, vocally brilliant.
It's a gorgeous song. I wonder if it would have been better to close the "Provision" album with this song, rather than "Philosophy Now." Just a thought.

Why was this song not on the Scritti Politti Provision cd?
djrobert in Finland i lovit this!
Fantastic
Gamson left his mark for sure ... he was involved in the self entitled album by Tony Le Mans .
Underrated B-Side
i love this song!!!
Why haven't I heard this before when I have the Provision album?
Provision would be one of my Desert Islasnd discs. Brilliant.
And I still think it's a terrible front cover though...
I wonder what happened to the beach ball 😂😂😂
I loved the cover... Simple message beautifully photographed... Pure Scritti ❤️
Does anyone know the synthesizers, percussion programming, and techique gamson used, I'd love to emulate this fresh sound for my own productions!

This fucking band ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Is this a B Side? I know almost all of Scritti's songs
Mike Sinclair Yeah.. the best b-side ever...
Delicious
The B side of "Oh Patty." if you were lucky enough to get it.
It was the B side of First Boy In This Town (Lovesick) in UK and Boom! There She Was in US
This is amazing - though I think instead of "beat you to it" it should have been "made you jealous" 🤣
Now you 'kids' realize what the 80s were all about, huh?
@FeelGood30
you have the right nick too... this was the feelgood music :) but remember... Scritti is Green, but David Gamson too, and Fred Maher :)
hey whaskell6, it's a common and very pleasant illness i think :)))
