This so bloody good. I saw Scritti open for Red Krayola in Birmingham after Skank Bloc came out. They were terrific. Green is one of the great British songwriters.
Thanks for uploading. To my shame I have never heard the 12" version before. The development of the structure of the song is fascinating as it almost becomes another song in its own right. Green is particularly good at this, and it makes you just want more.
A mate of mine brought round a white label acetate of this. It totally and utterly wiped my entire vinyl collection off the face of the earth. Never heard my system sound so bloody brilliant.
Oh yes, astonishing album. There's a standalone 4 storey house at the end of my block which was Rough Trade HQ at the time. It is now the Tajikistan embassy
Possibly my fabourite Scritti Politti track - either that or 'Lions After Slumber. Whatever, it's better music, production, and packaging than a great many other, 'bigger' bands, on huge labels were managing to do at the time. Rough Trade Records, I love you.
This is an amazingly gorgeous song! There aren't really words. And yes, this is THE version.... PERIOD!

Awesome song from an awesome band. Back in 70’s I went to school with Green, although he wasn’t called Green then!!
Always loved this song, should have been a classic of its time.
This ooozes class and style... SP / Green - you are unique. A Giant in your era.

Thank you for doing what I cannot be bothered to do...such a great song from such an under rated band.
