Cupid & Psyche 85 by Scritti Politti changed my world musically. Hypnotize was (and still is) a musical marvel. There was nothing at the time that sounded like this song or the album as a whole. Painfully overlooked LP. Pure sonic genius.
I can't take my eyes off what is going on in this video and literally nothing's happening So appealing and fantastic without being vulgar, really ethereal backdrop for an even lovelier song
So many people slam this video...'not much going on'. The music is so busy that this minimalistic video provides the perfect juxtaposition. This is my favorite track from this album and I love this video
Flicking through the posters in Woolworths listening to Scritti Politti on a Walkman, not that I had the money to buy a poster, just I liked looking through them and the sound of one frame hitting the next.
Incredible chord progressions and arrangements, complex and creative beats, unsurpassed sound programming combining a wide range of sounds that complement each other all over the spectrum (bright vs dark, soft vs sharp/stabby etc) . It's like getting a brain massage ;D ;D.
Talk about nostalgia! I watch this video and I swear I can remember the woody smell of the room where I sat watching this video. An absolute underrated 80's masterpiece!
In the 80's, on a trip home from college, I walked into my mom's living room and heard this fascinating sounding song coming from the tv in kitchen. I thought to myself, "this song is incredible"! I bolted into the kitchen to find the 'Hypnotized' video playing on the screen. The combination of hearing this gorgeously, intriguing song and Green's beautiful face had me hooked! Scritti Politti for life!!✨🎶✨

First song I ever heard was Oh Patti on the radio as a teen back in '88.Been hooked on SP ever since. This is the album prior and this song & every other one on the album is mind-blowing.

Brings back memories of holidays in Cornwall. I had both his albums at the time on cassette. Played in car watching the waves. Where have the years gone :(
Green, for all his angelic tones, is a huge man. Like, 6 feet, 6 inches. He is still a stunner - I prefer his natural brun hue. And the guy’s talent & intelligence is just mind boggling.
I remember hearing this for the first time in the 60s.... about 20 years before it actually released. Totally different version with completely differnt vocals. And the part at 2:07 was way different. personally I like this final edition of the song the best. It embodies the 80s like a nutshell
this video always confused me, but in a good way ! it never made any sense, but it didn’t need to, it was super fun ! that being said, got DAMN what is happening, dude ? like, did the gang just decide: “yooooo omg u know what ? we should totally like. sit symmetrically and completely still on a sofa wearing opposite colours-“ “with like scattered items on the floor and fred and david going insane crazy ballsack mode on the beat in the background ?” “yeah !” the quality of the video rips before this release looked like they were filmed on a ti-83 calculator, and in comparison, this is like going back in time and showing napoleon playstation vr for the first time and watching his mind explode. awesome remaster !
Green Gartside & Paddy Mcaloon of Prefab Sprout had two of the most beautiful iconic voices of the 1980s ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤............x
Oh I just thought about Paddy when I listen to this
This record should have gone platinum IMHO...!!!
This album in every possible way. MASTERPIECE!
Agree in every possible way!
It was so good they couldn't tour. They rehearsed and said NOPE. They would have to hire 3 more keyboard players
Possibly even… the perfect way.
They did tour in the early 2000s, though. In the 80s they didn’t tour because Green had developed serious stage fright. Still, Green Gartside is blessed with one of the most distinctive singing voices ever. Scritti Politti rules!
I second that
One of the few perfect albums from the 80s: songcraft, execution, concept, flow, production.

STILL MY FAVORITE BAND FROM THE 80s, HIS VOICE IS ANGELIC, LOVE THE BAND SO MUCH ALL THE LYRICS AND SONGS
Me too. I love them
Stumbled upon this group for the first time in 2023. It blows my mind to find classics decades later that still rock so hard!
You should look for another under rated band, there called The headboys, the song is called, The state of things to come!
I was a child in their heyday and didn't fully appreciate them, but, wow I do now though! Always had a crush on Green! 😅😊
"Hypnotize" Da-da-di-da!
Okay now imagine me at 13 hearing “perfect way” brand new and the video too. Blew my mind. So catchy and otherworldly. And still so, like this one.
I don’t know what to do with my life right now I don’t know what to do with

“You left your love letters incomplete…” I always adored this

Maybe not the most exciting music video, but amazing song.
this video always confused me, but in a good way ! it never made any sense, but it didn’t need to, it was super fun ! that being said, got DAMN what is happening, dude ?
like, did the gang just decide: “yooooo omg u know what ? we should totally like. sit symmetrically and completely still on a sofa wearing opposite colours-“ “with like scattered items on the floor and fred and david going insane crazy ballsack mode on the beat in the background ?” “yeah !”
the quality of the video rips before this release looked like they were filmed on a ti-83 calculator, and in comparison, this is like going back in time and showing napoleon playstation vr for the first time and watching his mind explode. awesome remaster !
The girl is everything. NEW LIFE GOALS to be her vibe.
To be as unbothered as she was sitting next to Green Gartside...a feat!
Astounding to this day!✨
Yessss! I have been waiting for this one! 💚
A fan since Lions after slumber. Great Melodies and production
Picked this up for a fiver at a boot fair years ago, rapidly became one of my favourite records. A class act from start to finish.
