    Yep…got my VIN today! As an old test pilot myself, getting a car off the assembly that’s been produced for years has its advantages.

      @@AdamWellinformed I’m in the mid-Atlantic but for some reason it’s a Fremont not an Austin build so simultaneously getting the VIN, they changed the delivery window from July 20-August 3, to July 27-August 3. No worries. My leased BMW EV isn’t due to be turned in until September 11th so the date change is fine. No clue if it’s just built and being shipped or if it was built at Fremont, stored somewhere around the country in some parking lot and the logistics is such, they can’t get it to me until that time frame.

    Very good points, delivered beautifully. As a person struggling with the decision to order now or wait, the depreciation is scaring me. An autumn of 2024 MYP, with the Juniper just around the corner, might loose a lot more after about five years when the upgrade after Juniper is about to come out. A two "versions" old car instead of only one, that is what I can´t let go of. Regards

    For me it depends how long you are intending to keep the tesla. if you are a leaser who changes car every 2- 3 years it makes no difference but the current bone , but if you are a keeper and intend to have it 8-10 years i’d wait. The period in between both those examples is more tricky

    Got a MY LR RWD last week. Because; good price at the moment, first iterations of the new are certain to cost more, if it comes after April 1 (almost certain) thats an extra £400 or so a year on road fund tax (i dont think you mentioned this?), no stalks. The main thing i think i will give up by not waiting is a slightly better ride this is a harder ride than I'm used to. Fine for me less so for my (infrequent) passengers

    If you want a Standard Range Y do not wait for the Juniper. If the Juniper is anything like the Highland Model 3 standard range it will have no punch at all. There is an annoying delay in the acceleration. The typical Tesla punch is absent. I don't want to know how slow an even heavier car will be.

    I currently drive a VW Touareg as my daily vehicle for the last 4 years. I test drove the Cupra Formentor, some Skoda Karoq models, Nissan etc., but none of them were as good to drive as my daily driver. I tested the 2024 Tesla Model Y and was deeply disappointed as it was noisy and jittery while driving. I really did not expect that. Now I am hoping the 2024 Model 3 is better. Otherwise, I will have to look elsewhere.

      I do think the previous design fits the Model Y better, not so much the Model 3. I think it would look slightly odd for the Model Y, which is a tall and wide SUV to have small squinting headlights like on the Model 3, what do you think? The new rear-end does look better though.

      The rear screen would be fantastic, but you can essentially have one in any model you and they don’t seem that hard to install.

    Well there was the best incentive in Apr - June 2024 0.05% APR plus Tesla 15000 supercharging miles you really can’t get better tbh?!?

    I’ve watched so many YT vids over blast weeks. Due to change my 2020 M3, and nice to know the info you provide on the German built MY. Is thereby something in the vin that denotes, apart from the obvious changes you point out

    • @AdamWellinformed
      @AdamWellinformed  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There is a VIN decoder online that can help break it down for you. But the only notable thing I can think of apart from where it’s been made, is if you brought a RWD Model Y. This will tell you if you have the BYD blade variant or the CATL variant ⚡️

    • @jockmcminer_uk6629
      @jockmcminer_uk6629 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      😊 don’t know what BYD or CATL is, off to google. But CATL better?

    • @AdamWellinformed
      @AdamWellinformed  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haha sorry about that. Straight to the point the RWD Model Y from Germany has two different battery supplies, this being CATL or BYD. Both offer the same range and have great battery degradation properties. The only difference the driver will see is that the BYD battery is quicker at supercharging. Thats pretty much it. The user can’t pick which one they want, you get what you’re given when you buy a RWD variant. CATL is by far the most popular rwd variant, and its the one I have today 👍

    This is not just about the latest hardware. The noise insulation and drive comfort would be enhanced greatly. Once refreshed model Y comes out, old model Y prices would plummet for sure. So why not wait?

    • @AdamWellinformed
      @AdamWellinformed  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Pretty much every car depreciates. Difference is while a refreshed model Y may not depreciate as fast at first, it ultimately will as production ramps. But crucially, how much extra have you paid in higher interest over this period. If it’s not depreciation (which is inevitable), you get caught with the higher interest that Tesla will charge 😂

      @@AdamWellinformed EVs are and will continue to depreciate harder than ICE until the tech matures to a saturated level. A major refresh will def hit the predecessor way way harder.

    • @AdamWellinformed
      @AdamWellinformed  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @stonkytong ICE cars depreciated long before EVs started entering the market. EVs are exactly the same. Both will depreciate in the future too. This ultimately helps the used car market. So if you don’t like depreciation whether that be ICE or EV. Buy a used car. It’s a user preference. I want to stress though, this isn’t a ICE vs EV video.

    • @stonkytong
      @stonkytong 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AdamWellinformed ICE cars depreciate in a predictable curve. EVs do not because of the immense advancements of tech. While it’s unpredictable, the common sense of knowing a major refresh is coming to a popular model very soon, means it’s also common sense to wait it out
