I can imagine just how jarring it is for both the recruitable Four Winds, Zelestia, Gregory, and Madeline, to talk to Mauvier since their's is dead, and for Mauvier whose Four Hounds are dead but he is speaking to their look-alikes.
Jarring? More like depressing, imagine on the winds' side the guy who died for them to live seeing someone who looks just like him but not him, then vice versa on mauvier's side

As for Gregory and Zelestia, it does feel unsual as Griss and Zephia are jerkholes, but they ultimately realize Gregory and Zelestia are good people. For the Four Winds, it must be hard to talk with a version of their fallen friend, but I'm sure it gives them comfort and closure as well.
Their support conversation is one of the main reasons about why I'm a bit frustrated that Alear is the only character with paired endings. It was a pretty nice convo chain, but I wanted to see more paired endings between the rest of the cast.
Honestly, I’d be much Happier with set pairs. I’m not really a fan of the dating sim aspect of fe that has become popularized. This is one of the reasons why shadows of Valentia has one of the best paired endings
Fire Emblem Awakening and Fate let u pair units up that then had children. I hope they bring them back some day. At least S supports between other units.

I did not expect the four winds to be written as if they actually travelled into the main canon. I thought they'd be written like the ashen wolves from 3h. I love what they did with the wave 4 dlc in engage, this is way better than i expected

Nah. He does care about Veyle yes, but that's cause it's his job and he's sworn to protect her. If he were to realize he's had feelings for someone, he'd probably think of Marni, or in this case Madeline.
I always felt like he's very clingy to Veyle and very responsible/sensible when he's with Marni. Like he could be a father figure to both or even a lover to both, but we didn't get enough elements to know for sure. He does look like he loves them tho and knowing the man it's probably platonic, but damn there are moments he feels close to Veyle... And Marni for that matter

You get them after the DLC but you have to do it every playthrough to unlock them :(

The XML files for the game list Marni's age as 16. I don't have the DLC XML files yet, but I'd assume Madeline is the same.
