I agree. Roxys version is full bodied. Neil's version is awesome, and centers around 1 musician, Roxys involves multiple musicians, And no one is gonna argue that Bryans voice is a scoch smoother. So I say Roxy for the win
@@jessewoody5772 On alternate weeks Ferry's version is my favorite of the two, except when Young's is. When I compare two equally gifted musicians (Jimi and Stevie Ray, for example) I favor the original artist a bit. For how would the cover artist have a timeless composition to improve upon without that original masterpiece?
I saw this show at the Universal Amphitheater it was my second Roxy Music show after the Manifesto Tour at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in 1979. I saw Bryan Ferry every time he came to Southern California culminating with the Roxy Music 50th Anniversary Tour at the Forum. Thank you Bryan for a lifetime of great music and memories. The 1988 Bete Noir Tour and the 2014 tour in Santa Barbara were incredible.
They should have closed with this number. Absolutely fantastic and a total effort by the band and singers. Perfection and it shows on their faces as they played.
@@paulcropper4717 That would make a great Crazy Horse rocker. Dance Away could make an awesome slower Crazy Horse jam. Neil could probably turn More Than This into a beautiful acoustic ballad. Glad you like my idea.
This song used to play on the radio. When I was 16 I heard it in my $300 Chevy BelAir and it was one of the songs that inspired me to take up the drums. Never knew who the drummer was and I discovered another drumming idol in this time period. But I just cannot forget hearing this drum groove on the radio and wanting to play it as a teenager.
First Roxy Music song I heard way back when I was 13-14. Couldn't get it out of my head. As much as I love Neil Young, there's just something about the instrumentation of this cover that pulls you in.
I was that same age. This song, the live EP and another live recording (King Biscuit Flour Hour?) turned me into an instant fan. I knew who they were but this made them a favorite band. Their breakup that year was devastating for me. I'm a big Neil fan but this song is owned by Roxy Music.
Best recorded version of this song that I have seen. Great singing, fab sax from Andy, and Phil's guitar work was excellent. I wish I had seen them do this LIVE.....
OMG!!!!...Neil Hubbard looks so much like Neil Young in the same song from his Live Rust concert...one of my all time favourites.....as is Roxy Music Live in Frejus....amazing !!!!
Saw them do this at Wembley in 82. Best concert ever. My mate went the next night and nearly 40 years later can still feel the pain I had that she was there and I wasn't!
Saw this same tour when it came thru Chicago... Ferocious and beautiful... There is a 4 song live EP "The High Road" that is a must own. My copy destroyed many speakers way back when ...
I am more a Neil fan than a Roxy fan and I remember buying this EP back in the day, purely to hear this song. Still have it in the attic. This is the first time I have seen a video to go with the song. Excellent vibe.
I know I know it's Neil Young's best song. Jeff Healy did it, and Brian Ferry beautiful interpretation with a great altsax.. But listen also to the original version by Neil Young! I love it all! I was in a hurricane on the S.S. Nieuw Amsterdam and I know the feeling!
Andy's perfect tenor tone and Phil's Strat tone ,o yeah and Bryan's tone. Saw them once, The High Road tour in Mesa,AZ 😮was an Amphitheater and fountains on both sides with coloured lights, looked and sounded Perfect😊
I was there too and it was a fantastic memorable night in the open roman arena. King Crimson were playing support and all their fans tuned up too! it was a crush to get in so they just opened the gates to avoid disaster.
my absolute favorite version of this timeless classic, a regular on my playlist. I searched high and low to find the vinyl when it was released, and again digitally. The version that went on to the record is a better rendition..... just sayin......
One of Niel Youngs greatest songs. This performance is the best live cover of any song I have heard. The song fits Bryan voice amazingly well and the band and backing sings performed flawlessly. Love this track along with John Lennons Jealous Guy which is out of this world good.
Superb cover of a great song. Mind you, the whole Frejus concert is truly wonderful ... one of the first concerts I recorded on my first VHS back in the day ...
Roxy was always under rated. terrific live.
Manazanara's 'Hurricane' guitar solo on The High Road album is one of the greatest things I have ever heard in my 60 years on this planet.
Very underated guitarist
Definitely not here. Neil Young blows him away!
Totally agree...watched this over and over spellbound
Yeah fabulous
Cop that Taylor Swift. Or Kanye whateverheis.
The only band to have captured the haunting beauty of Neil Young's original...equally good...in a different way.

I coudn't agree more Frankie, and I remember it live in Melbourne Australia, Oh so well, I will never forget it.

Much better than young
I wish I had a time machine to live that golden age again
I was there. King Crimson (the Fripp/Belew/Levin/Bruford line-up) opened. What a magical night!
All these young people are now old people. That's so sad.

The vocal backing trio are mesmerising
I was there in frejus that night, oh my days what a memory. Love Mr Ferry ❤️
Andy McKay. Legendary saxophonist
Bryan Ferry could take any song and make it his own. What a talent and the classiest looking dude ever. James Bond on the music world.
Best description of Brian Ferry....
Bryan Ferry could sing the phonebook and make it
sound great
Great comment
My feelings exactly.
My feelings exactly.
This is a Roxy Music song that Neil Young plays occasionally.
😆
One of the most soulful versions of this song ever!!! Gives me goosebumps everytime!!
cowboy junkies do a great version
Everyone is into this . Big Time . Life Affirming .
my nomination for the best cover ever.
...jealous guy as well.......stunning stuff here...stunning.
They should have closed with this number. Absolutely fantastic and a total effort by the band and singers. Perfection and it shows on their faces as they played.
What a dreamy dreamy scene. Flowing skirts gorgeous men and music real music!
Roxy Music covering Neil Young sounds like a terrible idea and yet it totally works. Fantastic version of a classic song.
Too bad we never got to hear Neil Young cover Roxy Music!
@@nicholassgouros8612 Great idea! What song could Neil cover of Roxy's? Both Ends Burning?

I am coming up on 63.!!
Virginia plain .!!!
Brilliant. Brian Ferry makes music an explosion of heart and mind.
That sax part is outstanding, Phil’s guitar too....
It's almost as if this song was written for Roxy Music. I saw them perform this at Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto in the early 80s.
Im a bit of a Neil Young purist but this is different and really good it shouldn't work but hell it really does.
yeah when I first heard it on the radio in 82 I said whose doing neil young better than neil?
Brilliant....unreal...just brilliant
Ich habe noch nichts Besseres zu Gehör bekommen, Genial, einfach nur göttlich!!!!!!!
Love this song. One of the best versions
What a drummer.........

❤❤❤Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music ❤❤ Sounds that play good feelings to my heart.
j'y étais..............souvenir!!!!!!!!!
This is superb ! Jeez I miss Ferry & Roxy ! #memories
Well this is absolutely brilliant, like all Ferry's covers have been over the past 40 years!! (anyone able to spot that I am a fan?)
(With a little help from the band )
I'm somewhat of a dimwit. You are NOT A FAN? 😁😇
Boog no necesita ayuda de la banda el es excepcional y a la banda la entrenó el, quien sino
Superb song performed by a fantastic group that is Roxy Music !
This is how James Bond does a cover song.
I Get So Bloooowwwnn AaaWayyy!🤗🤗🤗
love the look on Alan Spenner and the drummer faces- grinning from ear to ear because they know they've nailed it!
oops! - it's Chris Spenner!
oops! IT's Chis Spedder on bass
Andy Mackay. Great drummer.
That's the estimable Andy Newmark.
Think Its Alan Spenner @@poppyorsini8480

Yes it just seems to fit together as though they all are one!
Manzanera peaking
This sounds like a hurricane briliant

ANDY NEVER DISAPPOINTS!
Brilliant guitar work
I saw this show at Radio City Music Hall . My date was 30 I was 24 we are still together Great Night Great Life
This gig I have seen a number of times and not a Roxy fan I find it awesome. What a band they were.
never knew they did this. Brilliantly done!
Where have you been, in a coma for the last 35 years?
so fucking brilliant...even I love NY's music, this version, it's not better or worse, it's...different only but on the same level
EXACTLY! Well said! I love both versions equally.
Wrong once Roxy Music record this song they own it even Neil Young admits it blows his version Away
I bought a DVD of this many years after seeing it live they start off looking so cool and end looking absolutely wrecked! Get in.
I'm blown away 🤯
WOWWWWWWWWWWW 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👑🌻🏆
That is the best Roxy live version by far. The musicians are all really into it. Jimmy Mailing is a man possessed. What a performance !
I love the grin on Spenner & Andy Newmarks' faces - they know that they've nailed it!
OMG!!!!...Neil Hubbard looks so much like Neil Young in the same song from his Live Rust concert...one of my all time favourites.....as is Roxy Music Live in Frejus....amazing !!!!
yes but Neil Hubbard looks like he's about 12 yrs old! (don't think Neil Young ever looked 12!
I dunno why I was surprised that this was good, it is Roxy Music afterall
epic cover of an epic song
It is what a cover should be. Take a great song rearrange it a bit and make it your own.
You go with a vibe like a wave and all you have to do is ride it ! Yeah, this was goood!
Jeez, this is good...
Excellent 👌
If Neil Young had a British accent this is what the song would sound like, even the guitar work is Neilsy imo
Top from Roxy Music

Owned it!!!
I forgot how much i loved RM back in the day .. Noone does it like Neil BUT Roxy Music Roxy Music ROX IT ! tnt4ever
Whoa! Andy Newmark is the man! What a killer beat he had on this. Did David Gilmour get that red strat from Phil the Man?

I am so so jealous - fantastic cover! Think that they're a wee bit coked up? lol
I had it , chrome, quality tape, very loud, played it 100,s of times in workshop

that's absolutely true ...sax solo is also terrific on the record and completely different .... Roxy at their best !
I have that album. Won't pick between RM's version ...too different; but I like their version of "Jealous Guy" waaaaay better than Lennon's.
Ferry is one of those rare beasts whose covers sometimes supersede the originals
Phil é monstro!
The best
wonderful
Fonzi Thornton also gave an extraordinary performance.
Thanks for your comments ... it must have been a fantastic concert.
I was at the Dortmund concert. September 1982 Westphalhalle fantastic a life experience
Andy Newmark was in the pocket playing with Roxy.
Roxy Music influenced many many big eighties bands plus a good few seventies bands. Including John Lydon.
Fonzi Thornton and Michelle Cobbs on background vocals and dance extrordinaire. Anybody remember who the 3rd singer is??
insane solo, entirely.
One of Niel Youngs greatest songs. This performance is the best live cover of any song I have heard. The song fits Bryan voice amazingly well and the band and backing sings performed flawlessly. Love this track along with John Lennons Jealous Guy which is out of this world good.
Love Hubbard
I quite like the reggae beat - nobody can match Neil Young's version though I have to say
What about us in the land down under (AUSTRALIA) Like a Cyclone!!
How did they get Mark Cuban to sit in on the bongos for them back in '82?
WOW Phil
I wanna start a band! Go on heroln.
Superb cover of a great song. Mind you, the whole Frejus concert is truly wonderful ... one of the first concerts I recorded on my first VHS back in the day ...
After Roxy Music plays the song it's no longer a cover they own it even Neil Young admits they do a better version than he does
