@@ScottishTeeVee CLASSIC Neil
...nobody even KNOWS who - Crosby, Stills, and Nash are ANYMORE - !
(totally unique guitar style)
g'morn!
am gonna guess from your moniker that your name might be "jolly" Roger? :)
@@bobbywolff1274 Not even close 😉
I nicked this album” live rust” from Johnstone library in 1980 👍
In 77, I was uprooted from my school and friends, once again. Shy, awkward and lonely, I found a precious gift. Neil's Decade. Pretty sure that album saved my life.
Thank you for watching and commenting, I am glad you enjoyed this video 🙂
That ole' black thunder guitar & simplicity of genuine singing & lyrical genius woke up my senses. I believe it was Neil's uncanny ability to help me escape into that dream world were not many have felt. I gradually formed a rebellion because of this which gave me an edge to be unique & authentic. Then when I knew I felt monumentally more alive than following the herd I never turned back. I always seemed to have anxiety before this revelation though I was considered cool & popular. I was always good to people, but my identity was not intact @ all. He changed my perspective big time. How refreshing was that?!
And Live Rust (1979)!
Me too ! 🥰
Love Neil with Crazy Horse, such a unique sound
76 years of age and still get shivers of cold every time I hear this, thank you
Very well said.
Thanks for watching and commenting Richard🎸
73 now and it takes me back to dancing with a young lady to this many years ago and waking up with her next morning.
me too!
Neil made his own pocket and
sat in it his whole career.
His work is a major gift to the world.
NO DOUBT.
When Neil gets into them solos it's as if he's in a world of his own.
and the bass player is right there with him, does an incredible job!
Neil takes us along on his journey; we never want it to end either 😊
✌💛he is
This is reverant,no words for Neil's raw, passionate music. Pure rock and roll 101
He is. Neil used to live in Ojai California to stay away from everyone
Grunge before grunge became hip...Neil was always running ahead ..
Truly a pioneer like the frontiersmen of old.
The best solo guitar of all time! Both segments!
Magical the first time you hear it. Magical a thousand times later. The lyrical phrasing and amazing tone are almost too perfect. A rock'n'roll masterpiece.
I've loved this tune since the day it played. Such a relatable tune by a great guitarist.
Cheers!
This is my favorite song by a wide margin. I've listened to it THOUSANDS of times -- like nearly every day since 1977 -- and it never gets old. I must say though -- Neil looks like he's pretty much under the influence of something in this video. And he doesn't miss a note, which is a testament to how great he is.
His one of kind guitar style and tone are so full of real emotion it’s impossible to not be inspired by his genius
I love the metaphor in these lyrics. Anyone who loved someone who was wild can relate.
I was a Public Servant who married a blues singer. We had a few good years until she realised I could never keep up!
"I wanna Love you, but I get so blown away..." Absolutely true
I was 24 when this came out and going through a rough time..Neil helped me keep my head and heart together. Music is healing.
I was in my 30's, but we looked forward to every N.Y. album as they came out. They were all so different.
Same, my younger brother died in a car crash the summer of 1980. His fav was Neil. Rust Never Sleeps & Comes a Time helped me. 🙏🏻
@@samanthab1923 "Comes A Time" was such a soothing album for my family, too! It was totally unexpected.
@@jeffryhammel3035 Right? Good memories
@@samanthab1923 Hello Samantha. Music can get you through. I am very sorry about your brother. I lost a younger sister although not in a car accident.
I was 14 when I discovered Neil. He too saved my life! I love him so much. I’ve been listening to him for 54 years!!
Over 45 years and thus album still kick-ass. Live Rust is one of the best double live album ever!!!!
Totally agree!
My favorite song... ✌✌☮☮🎶🎶💫💫☯☯🪻🪻♥♥
You are like a hurricane.... there's calm in your eye 👁️
Wow I can't believe how young he looks
This man’s music moves me in ways I cannot explain.💕
I cant remember my youth. But how I remember this song
1977, Oh those were the crazy daze. We are like a hurricane... Getting blown away...
I saw him on this tour in 77. And I just saw him the other day in Bristow, VA, and he is still amazing!!!
He makes music because he loves it and feels it through his soul and body and spirit . If you ever have felt that it's a rare feeling .
Drummer was a total cymbal crusher in this tune, love it!!!
That would be Ralph Molina. Never flashy bet knows how to get 'er done.
Wow, didn't know that, thanks for the info.
@@tomfisher2103 Ralph and Billy are still with him doing it! Poncho retired.
I swear Neil Young has never played any of his songs the same way twice...and every version is brilliant.
i would listen to Neil for hours back in the day, he would keep me from doing something stupid.
'77, right around the time a buddy introduced me to Neil Young and Crazy Horse. Still love his stuff today.
I think he was a great performer and song writer, my favorite song 🎵
WAS?????
Loved Mr Young over 50 years now
He is a force in music, wish I could have seen him do this live, one of the greatest song writers out there.
He's not done yet. Still touring in his 80s
And still amazing. There's a recording of him playing in Kilkenny a few years back. He's a force
Neil Young was never about the show, but always about the music.
Still relevant in my life in '24 as it was in '77 when I first heard it. Some storms keep blowing...
obviously by these comments this song is ❤a life-changer
Went to this in Los Angeles in 1977.
My ears rang for 3 days!
He was amazing!
A rare and perfect diamond, a rare gem. You rock!
Was wären wir ohne die Musik der Heroen aus dieser Zeit?❤
Epic performance of this classic tune. Neil's soloing is as personal as a thumbprint.
when neil takes off on that les paul, you hear how he feels- at that moment.
Perfect. I always thought of Neil as a musicians musician. He is as personal as it gets. Inspiration.
Neil is a AwEsOmE guy.
😢Makes you want to cry…This old age sweetens the memories…
Just saw him live today. Remarkable!
Thanks for watching and commenting Dean
That perfect feeling when time just slips away . . .
When I was 16, away at summer camp, and heard this song, it changed my life. I had never heard rock guitar like this before.
It’s transformative. You are always 17 when you listen to Neil. But now we’re seniors so it’s AWESOME to still be 17.
I love his greatest hits. He is very talented. Turn it up!
Neil could of retired after this masterpiece and he would still be an icon. Thus is pure perfection
Have.
I'm glad he released Rust Never Sleeps after this, it has some real gems as well
yes, donaldellis-wt6xl, he could of retired, but this was his high watermark in my opinion. I listened to the Live Rust album for the better part of my youth, and still do.
Der Altmeister des Rocks ist immer noch weltspitze..
An artist, at work, working.Gonna' go play the vinyl. 😎
Known as a singer-songwriter and recording artist, his live performances are often overlooked. He and Crazy Horse had such a great live sound, and I don’t hear any overdubs here.
This guitar performance is simply epic ❤😮
It certainly is
We all were younger back then
❤I was twenty years old when this was recorded, I love his voice🎉
The older I get, the more I appreciate Neil Young, especially as a fellow singer/songwriter. His songs have always stayed with me.
Neil Young is one of the greatest in Rock n Roll. I love this live version.
Awesome, music this song so mind blowing.! no other "Awesome" Artist than Neil Young,.! on Planet Earth🪐 He's the Best.!!!!!! Love Kathy❤
I watched this live...good ol day's
I was 18 when I saw the first 'like a Hurricane" video and it was like a drug for me. Now I am 62 and there is no difference between the times.
Strong Like 👍
I was 15 back then, I snuck out of my room and watched this performance, I was aww struck,
Saw him play this in Phila at The Spectrum in 78, me 18. He had on a white t - shirt and white painters pants 👍
Was für ein Supersong von Megastar Neil Young ✌️ Jede Live - Version... die er immer anders spielt...eine Augenweide ✌️✌️
Saw him in Madison Wisconsin. 😮😮😮I was blow away and he blew me farther away! 35 years ago
OMG! Neil is so YOUNG in this clip! My man. Oh!, how i LOVE him ❤!
I find this utterly mesmerising, I can literally lose myself in it. Pure genius, this is must’ve been the moment when the phrase “blown away” was actually invented.
Hypnotic....every single note he hits comes from his soul.
I was there and I did get blown away…. So did my friends but, man I remember getting chills when he played this. We stood on the arms of the stadium chairs which were floor seats, how the 5 of us girls kept our balance and danced like crazy is beyond me now. Always gonna love Neil. We see him every and any time he plays on Long Island.
Saw Neil close the show with this at the Glasgow Appollo Theatre in the 70s. Superb.
His playing is so full of emotion, like Hendrix !
Rust never sleeps and live rust man i love those albums !
This is my favorite from him
I feel very sad for those that weren’t on Neil fascination train, he just kind of of Melds with that Les Paul, I was listening to this in my journey to get more of his music and always found a way to make this an others, Neil Keep on Rocking in th free world
This was the song that introduced Neil Young to me, sometime after 1978.
This my music Neil Young is pure genius!
Neil Young lives on in all of us.He still rocks on like no tomorrow. All those great songs..wish I was still in that era,I kinda am at 75 I know& have alot! Keep on Rockin in the Free world.☮🌟
I saw this tour at the Hammersmith Odeon as it was then. No words can describe the gig. I knew his acoustic stuff mainly and after Neil did that set solo he came back on with Crazy Horse and did this stuff. I'd had 3 pints of Newcastle Brown during the interval! - as we said in those days - it blew my mind. Best gig ever and I've seen a few really great ones.
I'm 54 and I absolutely love this song 🇺🇸✌🎶🎵💜 the grandfather of grunge '!♡♤☆♤☆♡
I wanna love you but I'm gettin' blown away.
This is my favourite guitar solo. Nothing beats it.
This song was my Neil Young gateway drug. I was 12 years old and had never heard of him nor his music. Like a Hurricane opened a new part of my brain. I loved the melody, the different sounds of the instruments, and the beauty of the lyrics. Artistry and poetry melding into a new experience for me. It was the bridge between the Bay City Rollers, KISS, and grown up music. Still one of my all time favorite artists.
Neil is an awesome musician!
the way he plays the guitar is so .. just fucking great
Yes! But unfortunately his singing is fu... Poor.
GLAD TO SEE THIS IS STILL AROUND
Pure grit and eloquence.
Always loved Neil’s guitar playing.
I’d read that Neil had polio as a child. And while he did get better, his nerve synapsis had a bit of a delay. That lead to his right hand not syncing up with his left. This led to his signature playing.
@@johnnyl321 Right and left hand need to be synced, if not guitar playing would be a complete mess.
It's a complete mess alright. A beautiful mess.
You mean his one string solo portions? LOL. Not that it's anything wrong with it. But a friend of mine who plays it a band is the one that pointed it out. He said that Neil basically only plays 12-string when he's doing a solo. Kind of crazy, so I checked it out and I think he's right! He's basically just playing one string, and all of his solos
@@johnnyl321 the one string method. Check out the solo after about 3 minutes on here you can see it it's pretty much just one string. Maybe that's about the only way he can do it?
Amazing footage. Fkin amazing.
Im glad you found and enjoyed it
Almost 50 years ago 🤪 and STILL going strong!
Bless you, Mr. Young.
May you stay forever YOUNG! ✌
Neil was so ahead of the times. His lyrics are genuine & relatable. I've been chilling to this song for decades. This kicks ass.
Cheers!

1978 " Pine Knob ", MI . History will never repeat this night . Thank you Neil .
46yrs later and Neil’s hair still hasn’t seen a comb anywhere near it. 😂
And I wouldn't want it any other way!!!
Just priceless, thanks for uploading this, I do get some strange looks though when I tell people that Neil Young plays one of the best ever guitar solo's on this masterpiece.
Another Best Version of Like A Hurricane
This is the most mesmerizing video Ever
Fkn fantastic
The greatest rock and roll band of all time.
This, THIS is the best performance of the greatest rock song of all time.
Thanks for watching and commenting Steve
God this is nice to listen to.
Saw Neil Young and Crazy Horse on the 1978 Hey Hey My My tour. This song at that concert was otherworldly, like Neil was off on some kind of trance or something. Out of the 100's of rock concerts I have seen it was one of the greatest single song performances in my memory. They had a big fan blowing across the stage making everyone's hair fly around like they were in a hurricane I guess. There just aren't concerts like that anymore.
I only saw Neil once. Psychedelic Pill tour. I was never able to make any of the other Neil shows and thought I might never see him. It was in London Ontario and he started with the Canadian national anthem, which seemed like a genuine and touching start to the show. Cinnamon Girl was somehow much better than the LP version, despite the fact that it was true to the LP version. The version of Powderfinger was also amazing. I was thrilled to see Neil with Crazy Horse, but amazed that he did Needle and The Damage Done too. Thanks for posting this.
Two expensive saw REO Speed wagon one time and they lit up the tangerine bowl with fake lightning and thunder storms for riding the storm out cool effects Gary was at his best
I caught that tour too. I think it was called the Rust Never Sleeps tour in the US. I saw it at Madison Square Garden in New York. Amazing guitar work which I will never forget. One of the best!
I've seen him a few times myself. On this tour before and after. You are so correct true dat 🎶🎸 One of the highest show I've ever been to was 74' Phoenix CSN&Y were on their "Reunion tour" and I spent 5 years with the sound man at the Armadillo World Headquarters 😎
Oct ‘78 I had a ticket~ride~lodging 2 states away for ‘Rust Never Sleeps’ tour in Denver. Had just started a new job boss wouldn’t let me off for 1 day should have quite and gone, regret…friends brought me back a t shirt. Caught Neil 10 years ago.
Neil Young is Called Gold Fingers
Neil + Crazy Horse = Magic
Saw him in Kingston, Ontario in the mid 'oughts.......stellar, amazing show with his son also painting a mural. Will nvr forget that show....Bob Dylan also played same venue not long after and i spent most of my time outside having a smoke, it was crap. Neil is just phenomenal and true raw talent.
If anyone would tell me that Neil or Lou Reed were the best guitarists of all time, I would certainly laugh in their face. But, ironically, if someone asked me who the best guitar rock soloist of all time- those two would be in it. Such a great song and even better solos.
Great song that's dang sure.
Here it is the start of Grunge Rock!!!!! Neil and Crazy Horse Rocks!!!!! The Leader!!!!
such amazing guitars - they have bonded together in almost a trance - this song gets me through the day
Grate tune Neil thank you man
