    Just to save some confusion, the eBay fees at the end are at a reduced rate of 80% as that's the only time I sell on eBay 😊😊 Thanks for watching!

      Surely you should have a business eBay account? As you’re buying the items with the intention of reselling them and not for personal use. The moment you make that decision of intent, you should be declaring yourself as a business to HMRC. Not doing so, and plastering it all over TH-cam is just asking for the taxman to come knocking at your door.

    • @JoeyDoesTech
      @JoeyDoesTech  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@gordon767 Thanks for the advice Gordon but don’t worry! I do everything by the book 😊

    • @JoeyDoesTech

      @@mikejm79 The videos are purely for entertainment purposes and taxes are done differently all over the globe, which is why I’m reluctant to update it. Tax brackets change depending on how much income you make in the UK and until the end of the tax year it’s difficult to predict how much tax is due to be paid. I’ll make a note on the spreadsheet so people can see that the figures don’t include taxes.

    • @JoeyDoesTech
      @JoeyDoesTech  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I guess for arguments sake I’ll call them “Gross Profits” instead of just “Profits”. This would indicate that I still have fees to pay on the profit after fixing etc.

    For stickers, try some orange oil (sold as goo gone, DeSolve it....) and plastic razor blades, let the oil sit on the label for a few minutes and it will likely slid off.

    Nice one Joey. One's that haven't been interfered with from eBay are a rare find. As a full time eBay seller I get all my consoles and broken electronics from car boot sales. Have you ever been to one to have a look? You can't guarantee they're broken but if the seller says it's fully working you can bet when you get it home it's not.

    That was really good score. For some reason I never can find honest sellers... Whenever I buy "faulty", "for parts" or "not tested" stuff it's always a disaster. One of the worst purchases was an _unopened_ switch that had "damaged charging port". And indeed - it had damaged charging port but was also missing m92 and most of the pads around it ;) Looked pretty much like somebody had taken pliers and took the chip off the board... But that's not all - screen flex cable was damaged beyond repair as well. But yeah - "unopened" 😅

  • @whited250
    @whited250 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the video, it's quite interesting to see how this kind of thing can go (the failures are just as interesting BTW).
    I'm kind of amazed that you actually find these things on ebay. I'd love to give something like this a go -- I have the tools -- but the listings just don't seem to exist here 😕
    Perhaps there's a bigger market for broken electronics there. I suspect that in Canada (and I think the US also) people are more apt to toss out things like this when they break. People just don't even realize that repair is possible.

    One suggestion for the spreadsheet: Track the time you spend on these fixes. Like, time you take to find it on ebay, buy it, process it and then fixing it. I know that it takes longer because you are also filming the process, but it could give an estimate on how much you are making (or losing) per hour of work.
