Yeah, to be honest I think we have two dead APUs in these consoles. Replacing the APUs would be well off the charts and not worth it, keep the donor boards for other parts.
i'm very inspired by your work, i recently replaced a hdmi port on ps4 for the first time and i feel like every video you make is basicly a tutorial we all can learn from thanks!
That MOSFET you replaced a number of times due to looking short happens on good ones too. After the capacitors discharge, it shows normal again. I have a board with exactly the same symptoms that I still haven't worked out. If I run the console 12v off the bench supply, it cycles drawing up to 1.5A and then restarts, it does this a number of times. Once it's finished cycling, you can power it up and stays on for longer, but still won't stay on properly. I think it could be a Southbridge issue.
I always set the seller type to private rather than business, and I check previously sold items. Usually gives you an idea of who you can and can’t trust.
I mean I wouldn't say who you can trust. The seller had no description and sold them as non-working consoles. Maybe you can decide what one has a higher chance for being fixed but the seller didn't do anything wrong.
Always check what else they are selling. If it’s lots of electronics, some listed as working and others ‘not tested’ (bull****) then they are dumping what they can’t fix back onto Ebay.
why not try a new psu? i've seen those fail so many times. they like to, in my experience, give off power in pulses or unable to give full power after a pretty bad over heating. just my experience. love the videos man!
To be fair, you haven't lost out completely on that - the 1TB HDD, 500GB HDD, PSU's, disk drive, and outer cases would net you the £40 if you sold the components on. Plus you have that carry case thing, that they were shipped in! :)
check U9F1 (APU side) at the bottom right of the PCB, iirc it is the voltage reg for the memory these suffer from heat and fluid ingress due to their location
May be unrelated but I had that model of xbox and after a software update it started doing exactly the same thing, microsoft actually took it back and replaced it for free outside of warranty
I wonder if that weird thermal paste (that gold crap) has some kind of metallic content and is in someway bridging the caps on the APU. Try cleaning all of that gunk off and try again. Worth a shot. Also did you test the caps on the backside of the southbridge? Cheers Joey!
Hi Joey, thanks again for a great video! My son's XBOX One S currently powers on, but doesn't display anything on the screen and won't display anything in Safe Mode (although sounds like it's going into Safe Mode). Any ideas on what might be the cause? I'm thinking HDMI issue, although it just happened randomly one day, so maybe also thinking hard drive? Any support you can provide would be useful - he is really upset it's broken and we can't afford to fix it right now at a shop :(
The HDMI out was broken anyways why don't you take that off and see if that might be the problem anyways it's shorting out right there at the very end of the HDMI out
As always, I enjoy your videos :) I have a PS4 classic (EU plug) in my cupboard I got from a client once. I believe it has less than 100hrs played, turns out I'm not much of a console player. But could use a bit of new cooling paste (sort of jet-engined when playing Red Dead 2, but otherwise worked perfectly fine). I don't wanna sell it, for some kid to have a playstation that might need a checkup. Would you be interested?
16:56 I have read somewhere you can use Nutella as thermal paste in emergency. Idk if it was meant seriously, but people are stupid enough.... Only one way to find out, i guess.
How much do you think I can get for the bag? 🤔
Ten bucks.
No idea if it has value or not, but I recognise the logo from a company that used to make iPod docks
Keep it. It looks nice
Probably about £10-£15 (including postage costs) for use as a laptop carry case or for carrying other portable (or not so portable) electronics.
Joe, second console have 5 sec turn off delay, try replacing ram management ic . It might work.
7:08 that BGA doesn't look factory, if the seller is a repair shop they may have just swapped out bad APU's then sold them on eBay

Did you manage to fix the issues after a year? :D
I have no idea about tech repairs but love watching to see if you are able to fix stuff
I think the seller exactly knew what he sold there.. what a shame.. Oh and the Game hasn't found ti's way to Sally.

You forgot the game on Sally's Spectacular Spreadsheet.
Mosfets usually blow because of the load, so you should inject at the drain or source depending on the mosfet type

One drive was from Toshiba and they are crap
@@dj_noxxie thankfully I haven't had any HDDs fail on me even if they are/were Toshiba
@@dj_noxxiesince when are Toshibas crap? They have the best failure rates, up there with WD and HGST
Hey Joey in the first repair, how did you know the voltage was low on the mosfet? Experience with that board or did you use the spreadsheet on it

Inject voltage at the coil after the two mosfets to check if something is shorted after them.
Lol! Copper slip! That's a sort of lubricant. I've used that as thermal paste before. It is conductive so really bad idea if you're not careful
Heatsink on and unplug fan. Replaced fans on two old x-box systems, they are usually very reliable, but sometimes fail.
love the vids
also love to see new gloves 😂
keep up the good work 👌
That looked like copper slip for brake pads...BAAAAD
Loving the British slang... To conclude, you got diddled! :P

I call it something different than being finessed lol
Family friendly 😂😂😂
That gold thermal paste could be shorting out the APU's caps on the chip itself.

Hey Andy, send me a message on Instagram if you have it? It should be in the description of this video, thanks! 😊
@@JoeyDoesTech thanks Joey, I’ve sent you a message 😊
That chip on the corner of the APU is going to cause no problems whatsoever.
Clean off that copper thermal paste as soon as possible!! It is highly conductive. I have used it before, years ago. Did not work because of that.
It worked when you pressed the apu?
Try it without the fan plugged in as it was staying on when you didn't have it on the board
Can I send my netendo switch to you for repair. I tried myself an 😂 can't solder small crap the battery connector.
Joey has fun with money and stuff
On last console you found propably Coollaboratory Liquid Copper thermal paste
7:53 he sounds like a chicken lol
Hesimatation! I just learned new word!

Mad when the bag was the best profit in the part lol
Well, it's not a bad looking bag. Still a Great Video! If you can fix one later, then you may be able to fix both. Thank You. 😁

That seller f’d you…
Hi Joey if you are interested in boardviews i have them for xbox one s, one x , one fat and also xbox 360
bruh someone used copper grease on a cpu what the hell
13:55 Pin 7 is not NC, it should be connected to pin 6, you can see the small trace under it. Unlikely to be the issue though.
Out of interest, why dont you ever fix ps4?
Thats copper grease used in cars ffs
You might have better luck with smartphones especially samsung ones
Trying. To. Fix. Cheap. Faulty. eBay. Items. To. Make. a. Profit. Profit. Or
its the psu bro
Did you check ncp4205 joey
After seeing how badly switch lites are treated, it makes me appreciate my one better!
