a bit confuse in Time Stamp 5:38 you did mention it is 8note 1+2+3+4+ and i got that; Time Stamp 6:15 it became 12+3+4+ that is only 7note. the (+) between 12 became imaginary?

If you play the full C with four fingers I assume that the pluck would be on the 6th string. Why does everyone teach three finger C and F chords, it’s not that har to add that one extra finger. The friend who introduced me to guitar back in the 70’s showed me both and I’ve always played them that way, if would feel un-natural to play them with only three fingers. Also, to play along in the proper key, you need the capo on the second fret.
Nice video- I suggest you pause between explanations and playing, or count off so people know tempo and can play with you. Also, keep chords and fingering chart up in corner of screen.

Very few people can do this song with justice, I know it seems just like another pretty song, but if you are from West Virginia or have family from there, it becomes personal. Two of my great-grandfathers were West Virginia coal miners, my grandmother and grandfather were both born in coal camps. So it is special. You did it good, thank you.

Another excellent lesson. Do you have tutorial on proper finger picking position like where would you place your pinky. Should the hand be near saddle and resting on something or is in the air? I really struggle with finger picking that involves thumb ,1,2 and 3rd fingers.

When I learned slack key guitar. My first lesson was to practice alternating base before my next lesson. It is so important. My teacher made sure that I kept the beat of the alternating base. I love this song . I change the words to IZ 's "to the place I belong West Makaha" (where I use to live). Just a music story. Thank u for all u do for the online music community. And that darn F chord still my nemesis. Someday it will sound good.

If you were to use a metronome, what speed would you be on while fingerpicking this version of country roads? I watched one of your tutorials where one of the tips was to use a metronome, which turned to be a great tip for me. Thank you.
@@LaurenBateman You make it look so effortless. I'm practicing everyday to get there. Country Roads was always one of my favorites. I used to strum it for my kids when they were young. Now at 72, I'm learning to finger pick everything. It sounds so much better. Bridge Over Troubled Water is another song I love and am learning to finger pick.
What i notice from this lesson is the E(m) chord in Country Road doesn't have anything to do with the song since we're picking the 6th 3rd 2nd and 1th. Or is there something i missed out.

Travis picking is always confusing because everytime I look into it it's played differently.
There are variations. Pick one and stick to it

I may have missed it, but I don't think you explain why the base chord changes. You say its a six string chord but em isn't a six chord?
Em is a six string chord. Bass is the lowest note of a chord.

Whichever you prefer. I like to fingerpick it, but someone people can't do that yet. So strumming is a great option.

If you were to use a metronome, what speed would you be on while fingerpicking this version of country roads? I watched one of your tutorials where one of the tips was to use a metronome, which turned to be a great tip for me. Thank you.
My guess is around 150-160bpm
@@LaurenBateman You make it look so effortless. I'm practicing everyday to get there. Country Roads was always one of my favorites. I used to strum it for my kids when they were young. Now at 72, I'm learning to finger pick everything. It sounds so much better. Bridge Over Troubled Water is another song I love and am learning to finger pick.

What i notice from this lesson is the E(m) chord in Country Road doesn't have anything to do with the song since we're picking the 6th 3rd 2nd and 1th. Or is there something i missed out.
Yep, I use it as a place holder. A lot of times with Em you don't hit the fretted strings.
