My quick story, I came down with Tinnitus in February of this year a few weeks after having Covid. I remember the night it started at 3:00 AM. I woke up from a sound sleep with a loud high pitched sound and I was freaking out. I couldn’t stop this noise and I didn’t know what it was. I should mention I already suffer from GAD so anxiety level went straight to a 10. I started searching on the internet and TH-cam to find out what was going on? I found Dr Ben’s videos and was relieved to hear positive information and comments from the videos. I was relieved to find people recover from this and some learn to live with it without interfering in their lives. I also felt I wasn’t alone with this issue. Next day, I got a hearing test, and was told that I had hearing loss and that is what was causing my Tinnitus. I asked what can I do and was told basically nothing. I asked how long would it last and the audiologist said it would probably never go away. I was losing my mind at this point with anxiety. I heard about sound therapy in a Video and I made an appointment and purchased hearing aids since I had some loss. The hearing aids have built in Tinnitus masking and its controlled through Blue Tooth on my phone. My anxiety was still out of control and effecting my mental health. So I started working Treble Health and Dr May. I started getting better but it was slow and has taken several months to get my anxiety down, but I have been able to with help from Dr May and Dr Ben’s videos. Dr Ben offers his videos with a lot of great information for free and I am grateful to him for doing that for those of us who suffer from this health issue. Doctors here in South Carolina have no idea what to do to help I have found. So working with Treble Health was my only choice I felt and I am glad I did. Working one on one with someone especially who also suffers from Tinnitus was of great help for me. Dr May helped track progress and give me information for helping with Spikes, Anxiety, and general well being were invaluable. I have progressed to the point in the recovery chart where I am a solid 3 with some attributes of category 4. I have some days with no sound, and some where it’s still loud but it doesn’t effect my mental health anymore. Sorry, this is longer than I planned I just wanted to say thank you to Dr Ben, Dr May and all the staff at Treble Health. You are helping many people who do not have help with regards to this malady.

This "four stages of habituation" table is the most usefull information you ever provided. Completely true and accurate. In a compact albeit detailled format, it gives key informations on how tinnitus perception is going to evolve, showing that ability to cope with tinnitus will greatly improve over time, which is a much needed positive message for tinnitus newbies. Currently, i navigate within stage 3, hopefully heading to stage 4. Thanks Ben for your effort.

Thank you, your videos have helped me a lot and helped me deal with my tinnitus and hyperacusis.
I've had it since February this year, a very high pitch sound and very sensitive to sounds in my right ear, and I've been going through a rough time because of this. I found out that stress was the cause for me, my hearing is good according to my ENT doctor. It's getting better and better for a month and a half now. I can still hear it, but I don't react anxiously to it anymore. Most of the time I don't pay attention to it anymore, and sometimes the tinnitus is gone for a while. Sound therapy has helped me a lot (earplugs with different kind of audio, but also just music), but also information on the internet (not negative stories, but useful info and also positive stories), and TH-cam channels like this one.
Thanks again Dr. Thompson, you mean a lot to the tinnitus community!
And to everyone who suffers from this condition: hang on in there! Be patient, you get used to it, just give it time. And once you get used to it, the fear goes away, believe me!
Greetings from the Netherlands (Europe) 👋

I love my tinnitus. I’m a musician and my high pitch noise ( only left ear ) is in the key of C and I’m able to harmonize my brain waves and make music in my head…….nothing stops the noise. Rather it changes during the day depending on situations. Also sometimes it seems to go away but it’s there..just resting a little quietly. Some people have it real bad with different noises I’m lucky mine is a pain but manageable. I get help falling asleep listening to rain falling videos and I’ve just found one that uses crickets and that was very good. Listening to the Rosary video helps too…

I play guitar i have tinnitus and i did alot of loud auto body work and the amp, lowd concerts. I just dont worry about it and i some times do a music therapy to sleep. I also have a constant pitch thats pretty high but have not tried to get into sync with the tone pitch of it. Might give that a try. Main thing is dont let it get you uptight if possible or it gets worse. I am maybe stage 3 habituation.

I noticed something with my tinnitus. When I think positive thoughts such as concentrating on things that have been highlights in my life I noticed the tinnitus is reduced. I also noticed when I keep my salt in take down
I also noticed when I get 7-8 hours sleep I try to keep my protein intake reduced towards the evening and not eat within two hours of sleep. Of course exercise is important or doing errands around the house. There is some days where I shut the noise off in the house and I don’t hear my tinnitus at all. But when it’s really buzzing it’s buzzing. I believe we have a mechanism we have the ability to reduce this is just an example . I would think the best way to reduce tinnitus is I remember years ago they talked about sound wave therapy where they could take sound waves and Counteract noise coming out of machinery. Years ago there was a company called noise cancellation technologies. They purchased Freeport copper mines. The symbols were NCTI And FCX. I heard NCT I might have purchased the copper mines to make the mini motors that create the sound waves that counteract the noise. I don’t know what happened to it whatever happened to that technology but could you imagine if they had a device like that

The one thing I do not like to hear however, is using another noise or sound to cover an existing noise. this forces us to deal with 2 noises. I'm an almost 73 yrs old practitioner of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Transcendental Meditation, from Finland. Been doing TM for almost 45 years now, more or less regularly. Have a mild tinnitus now, prolly somewhat worsened mainly by a mild Corona virus infection, because am a so called pure-blood. Seem to recall having read in Valitut Palat ('chosen bits', Finnish version of Readers Digest) that in some American school for deaf kids, almost 38% of them were Scorpios by Sun sign, when there "should" be some 8 percent of those. Well, that was, I think, over 40 years ago, so I might misremember somewhat...I myself am a Scorpio, both by Sun and Ascendant, and, furthermore, have Pluto, the second ruler of Scorpio quite near my MC (medium coeli, mid-heaven). I guess there are no statistics of the horoscope signs (mainly Sun signs) of people with (disturbing) tinnitus.

I went to a concert on June 9th this year. It was louder than I expected, and I ended up with tinnitus for around 2 1/2 months. It was slowly starting to subside on it's own, when I contracted Covid. After about two weeks with covid, the tinnitus came back, much to my dismay. I haven't spoken to my doctor about it yet. I'll give it another week or so.
Sometimes it can be very distracting and bothersome. Other times it's tolerable. Should I seek treatment or wait it out?

While specific frequency matters it goes alothe ng with pitch. The high pitch whine of some therapy tracks might work for some but TH-cam view numbers midtones and lower. I've also found that slight undulation in pitch keeps me on point. My mind/brain dishes up mariachy band or big jazz band, so I need sound tracks that smooth out the cacophony. If it matters to anyone my tinnitus is due to a powerful side effect from a bipolar medication I stopped taking 10 years ago. These days I only hear it when it is very very quiet around me.

When i went outside my tinnitus practically disappeared but that isn’t the case now sadly. This does however tell me that it is possible to go back, that it won’t always be the same.

I felt the same way. And then I started to think maybe I was grinding my teeth at night not knowing it and I tried a night guard and when I woke up my tinnitus was just a whisper. What can you lose to try it. I was so surprised and happy. Going to try it again tonight and see if this is really the answer.

Tinnitus is a sign when your brain tells you there is something wrong.
Could be spinal issues, Tmj etc and if there is no other known cause for totnutis then there is a brain inflammation
