My Bosch dishwasher wouldn't stop draining (even with the door open) and what you outline here was not the problem. I had to take the side panel off where I discovered that the float that triggers the drain off switch was completely clogged with gunk and calcium from hard water. I removed the whole assembly containing the inlet off-switch diaphragm and the drain off-switch float, dismantled it, cleaned it and reassembled it. Problem solved.

@@paullaforet154 Hi Paul. If I ever have to repeat the process, I'll do that. If it helps at all, I do remember it being relatively easy to take apart and put back together. And I am an arts graduate and a writer - so technical stuff is not my strongest suit! No guarantees, but if you are calm and methodical in how you go about it, I'd say just go for it. If I could figure it out, I reckon most people could.

Yes I have the same problem with a narrow integral Bosch as in video. Hoped to be able to see how to check the float valve but nothing in the video on that. At least a good steer to what the problem might be, but not the solution video I hoped it might be.

Thanks for the hint. Indeed, the reason for the pump keeps draining on my dishwasher, no matter the door was open or what I select, was indeed some water inside the dishwasher. The cause of it needs to be investigated, and I think some comments here are because there may be several reasons, like a worn out hose, or in my case, some flooding in the sink that went through the cabinets inside the dishwasher. So I only had to remove the side cover, dry it, and it was fixed!

Someone doing this fix may also want to remove the torx screw and remove that white plastic piece under the filter assembly (show at 8:47). There are 4 channels that lead to the drain pump under there and they are just the right size for popcorn kernels and other seeds to get stuck there. If you get a seed in each channel the washer won't drain. Don't ask me how they get there or why people are putting popcorn kernels in the dishwasher.

thank you for this video .i had the same problem (dishwasher keeps draining) even the door is open .
no water drains in the dishwasher . the problem was leaking from the waterpump which caused water colected on the tray under the washer . this is designed from manuofactory to prevent water damage. after installed a new pump and drain out all the water in the tray .every thing works perfect. Thanks again we saved a lot .

    Thanks for the info.
Removing the bottom front plate was way too much of a hassle.
Pull the dishwasher out, lift the insulation, look on either side to see if you can see inside. I was able to see in through IT'S right side.
I saw water, there is a styrofoam float that acts against a limit switch.
When there is enough water present it will prevent the dishwasher from operating.
I cleaned that up, and now I will have to see what caused it.
Thank you for the video, this is what TH-cam is all about.

    • @sinistergroupon
      @sinistergroupon 7 ปีที่แล้ว

This is the anti leak feature. Water leaked out of the tub and the dishwasher keeps on draining assuming the worst. The maintenance is assuming that the dishwasher overfilled itself.

Because it's supposed to be a video on why dishwasher runs a drain cycle not how to clean the working parts. Should of gone to water inlet valve checking not cleaning.

    • @UTube957

The problem addressed is fine but the video itself and the maintenance part which is now relevant, makes the video useless. Add to this why the second and most important chapter in the video is just a slow motion video of the front of the dishwasher?

Hi, I have the constant draining problem too. Having cleaned all the water hoses, and float switch mechanism, cleaned and dried the dripping pan underneasth, still keeps draining 100% with the power on, even when the door is open! Please help! Unfortunately, Bosch USA said that they do not have any technical support here to solve my problem.

      Follow up:
I did unplug the float switch, and it is still draining when the power was turned on. While the float switch was unplugged, I checked the voltage of the drain pump, and found that the power (120V) was constantly on, and consequently it drained whenever the power switch was on. It might have related to the control board that was stuck in the drain mode. I am looking for a way to unlock or reset this Bosch dishwasher. The model number is: SHX55M02UC/53.
