    Perfect. Thanks so much. Solved a problem that my wife would’ve solved by spending a thousand on a new dishwasher.

    My metal grate was totally clogged with dog hair and quinoa! And we pre-rinse our dishes. Our dishwasher is over 10 years old so we are happy to keep it going. Thank you for the helpful video! I used yours and another video to help me take out the Metal grate with the blades to get a better cleaning. I will give a donation, thank again!

    Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! With the help of your video, I was able to tear apart my dishwasher and clean almost 8 years of crud and calcium buildup out of it. Now it cleans like new again! I can't believe that Maytag says NOTHING about the need for this type of maintenance in the user guide. I guess they would rather have you get disgusted enough with it not working right that you'll spend your hard-earned money on a new one.

    Perfect! I watched your video and cleaned my dishwasher because it wasn’t cleaning well anymore. I couldn’t pop that top screen off but I could see there wasn’t anything under it. The plastic parts felt a little greasy so I washed them with Dawn before I put it back together. I used my little shop vac to clean the crud out of the bottom and rinsed with clean water and vacuumed that out. Now running a short cycle with nothing in to just rinse it all well. Thank you so much for posting this - very to the point and clearly done! Awesome!

    This was a fantastic video! It was the fourth one that I watched, because it was by far the longest, at almost 12 minutes, and I tried the short ones first. That was my first mistake. This video explained everything, did not take any. Showed me how to do the tricky bits, and I wound up taking apart a lot more than I initially thought I would, which was also a fantastic idea! I am now a subscriber to your series, whether I need it or not 🙂 I wish I could give your video six stars.

    I was more than prepared to buy a new dishwasher. I want a third rack anyways. But you can’t! There are so many supply chain issues. So fixing what we have was the only option. Didn’t find as much garbage, but four toothpicks- plastic. Hopefully They didn’t burn out the motor. I think this will help. Thanks for posting!

    Thank you so much for your outstanding video coverage of the issue. I have the same problem with my Maytag dishwasher that is very similar to your unit. Instead of using a turkey baster to suck the water out, I used a wet/dry shop vac to suck up the water and gunk out. It made it so much easy to clean. I tried using Affresh to clean the dishwasher and it did not do a thing. There was so much junk and gunk that set up that restricts the water flow when I pulled out the parts. Your video was very detailed and very easy to understand. I ran the dishwasher last night and the top and bottom dishes came out clean. Thank you again.

    Thanks for your video fixing a bad cleaning maytag dishwasher. I have the same dishwasher and like to add when I put everything back together i found that little rubber flap from the hole which is used by the upper rack. This flap was floating in this back channel serving the upper rack and blocking the water flow.

    Mine was clean already. No gunk anywhere. The spray arms were clean. I got water in the right side up dish. The top arm didn't spin as well each time. Its free of gunk and spins freely by hand and I ran water through it while I had it out. The soap dispenser has soap that doesn't get washed off also.

    • @QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance
      @QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Mark,
      Can you try starting a cycle and at five minutes open up the door and take a look at how high the water is.
      It should be in contact with the round heating element.

    • @markbeatty5820
      @markbeatty5820 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance It's below the heating element. The water coming out of the lower and middle spray arms is pretty weak too. I sacrificed getting a little wet to check it out.

  • @beri232
    @beri232 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome video! Thanks! My Maytag was a bit different than this one but the process was pretty much the same. This was a very easy job and I won't be scared to do my own work on the dishwasher going forward. I had a gravelly noise in my washer when the water was spraying. Turned out to be a chuck of something that had almost been turned into petrified stone. Likely from so many wash/steam cycles. Aside from that piece of crud.... I had a bunch of white mushy stuff in there.... almost like wet paper. I'm guessing it was an accumulation of detergent from over the years. I bought my Maytag dishwasher new 12 years ago and thought I was going to have to buy a new one. I had planned to buy a Miele for around $1,500.00 as I'd heard they were 20 year machines. I think I'll get my 20 years out of this dishwasher now. I should probably take it apart and clean it a little more often though! Lol. We just replaced my Maytag washing machine yesterday that I bought new 25 years ago. It owed me nothing! I replaced the dryer purely for aesthetics as the matching 25 year old dryer is still working flawlessly. Maytag gets a bad rap sometimes but my appliances have all been Maytag and are stellar for longevity and performance thus far. I hope my new laundry set is as good!

    This was an excellent piece and it helped a lot with a cousin model to the one you worked on. The waste matter was blue and seemed like melted plastic and had really gummed up the impeller and the screen. I am not sure I was able to save it with the cleaning or not?

    Great video!
    Only question, while taking everything apart I tried cleaning around the clear plastic circular piece at the bottom of the dishwasher (possibly a sensor? Able to be seen at around the 5:40 mark), and this piece fell into its own hole. Now I can’t get it out.

    Your chopper blade is broken (at 3:04 you can see it on the counter). You need to replace this part for the dishwasher to clean properly again. You don't need to rinse the dishes, the chopper blade chews up any food particles when it's working properly.

    @mollyforrest9463 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I figured out our issue!! I don’t think ours is the exact same model as this one, but before you drop $600 on a new dishwasher, check to see that you’re pushing the top rack ALL the way to the back with your hand, NOT WITH THE DOOR. 😬🙈🤷🏻‍♀️ My husband and I were both guilty of doing that, and this is the first dishwasher we’ve had where the top rack had to make contact with the back of the dishwasher to be able to have that pressure to spin the arm. Problem solved! (And now it’s basically a brand new dishwasher since I took it all apart and SCRUBBED with a toothbrush. 😂)

  • @chandlerarizona8773
    @chandlerarizona8773 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi, my Maytag arm against the dishwasher wall has a star screw. It looks like you do not unscrew it off the wall. Is this correct. Also, I cannot get the clips to release the arm on the wall of the dishwasher. I can only feel and not see the location of the clips, so what should I feel for because the clips are not releasing the tube.

    I've had my dishwasher for about 11 years and recently cleaned it as instructed in this video. However, now I seem to need to do it every two months or so. I always know it's time to do it again when the top rack doesn't get clean. Is there anything I can do (other than rinse dishes more thoroughly before putting them in the dishwasher) to keep things running nice and clean for a longer period of time?

      Check to see if your arms are spinning. We cleaned ours last week, and it didn’t seem to help. I noticed today that the middle sprayer arm (on the underside of the upper rack) is not spinning at all. I don’t have the solution yet, but I have identified the problem now (I think) …and knowing is half the battle.

    • @QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance
      @QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Molly,
      Just need to dig deeper underneath that big round filter and clean the metal filter behind the chopper blades,
      Then that middle spray arm will spin 👍

    • @mollyforrest9463
      @mollyforrest9463 ปีที่แล้ว

      Turns out ours isn’t exactly the same. I pulled it all apart again to make sure I cleaned under the filter and there’s nothing else under there. I think maybe the top rack doesn’t always fully go to the back, and I guess that is necessary to create a seal? 🤷🏻‍♀️
