    Pretty neat sounds good also I believe the 2 screws were for inside the muffler which holds it onto the cylinder head

    Got the strait shot for my 400 , but was to loud to work all day ! Closed the hole in with a washer welded in back where the screen was , now the hole is half the size and bearable to run.

    Being a firewood cutter only by the trailer size 4×6 foot , do u think a 362 Sthilsaw is sufficient even coming across some big logs on the ground at times which I don't like leaving behind ?? Or should I opt for the 400 saw ?? Please advise, I thank you in advance Gunter

      Had the 400 been out when I bought this saw I would have gone with the 400. It’s lighter for basically the same horsepower.

    Does pointing the exhaust at the chain and oiling port heat things up?A hot chain wears faster and heated oil is gonna flow faster. What about a full wrap handle bar, is it gonna heat that up too ?

    I bought one for my 500i and removed it pretty quickly. For one it's too loud for working 8 hours a day every day even with hearing protection, it seemed to up horsepower but it hurts the torque since it loses a lot of backpressure and it was a fire hazard, every time i went to cut a tree with moss on it the moss would start to smoulder after a few seconds

    • @ChainsawFarmer1
      @ChainsawFarmer1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh wow, very interesting. According to the dyno on Egan's website for the 400c both torque and hp increased. Very strange on the 500i.

    I’m not a fan of those muffler covers. A well done mod on a stock muffler will give you a noticeable boost in performance. Those flat covers reduce the internal volume of the muffler which I don’t like. Stihl can afford the best engineers in the world I’d trust them over some random guy making overly loud muffler covers.

    • @jeepinass
      @jeepinass 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Oem products have to meet a whole host of requirements. Maximum performance being towards the bottom of the list. There's always room for improvement over the compromises built into oem stuff. As you have admitted yourself with the muffler mod concept. Dyno numbers don't lie. Egan ss is top of the market.

    • @eurokid83
      @eurokid83 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jeepinass a well done muffler mod will yield a noticeable boost in performance without being overly loud. Those muffler covers look like shit and are way too loud. The engineers that design these engines, mufflers, etc aren’t stupid. The internal volume of the muffler matters. If you wanna spend your money on one of those covers be my guest. Not for me.

      @eurokid83 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jeepinass I could care less about what the dyno says. I’ll put my modded factory muffler up against a straight shot or bark box any time. Mite make SLIGHTLY less power. And it will look better. Your entitled to your tool bag opinion as well.

    • @magnumkdb44
      @magnumkdb44 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A well done muffler mod will indeed give a boost in performance but a muffler mod ALONG WITH a barkbox on the front will flow even better and run cooler then the muffler mod alone. As far as expansion chamber volume is concerned with the flat cover if the internal muffler baffle is removed then it gains an additional inch or so of volume which makes up for the loss due to a flat cover in my engineering minds opinion.
