In accordance with standard procedure, Samus discarded all of the items she collected on previous adventures before embarking on this one.
Super Metroid has a wide variety of time-saving glitches to exploit, many of which are explained on the page. Be sure to check it, as well as the , for more information on the improvements. (Note that this run is an improvement on the previous, even though the time seems slower, because this run was done on a more accurate emulator which unfortunately produces more lag.)

bought this game about 10 years back. Never heard of it. It took me about 13 hours to beat the first time with no guide or TH-cam for help. only got about 50% of the items. This game is a work of art
I had one of the old snes guide books with maps were all the items are in the game. When I was a kid I knew were ever item was in the game when my mom or dad would play they would always have me around to let them know when they missed and item or something
I beat it on the first try with 84 or 85% completion.
In my childhood we found 98 or 99%, I searched through the whole game to find the last % but didn't do it. And only ~10 years ago when I tried to check youtobe I was able to find the last secrets. :)

I don't think that TAS can be called cheating. It's meant to show off how the game itself can be broken/run perfectly, not how good the player is.
It technically isn't cheating since the game's code isn't modified. Only uses a bot/program to input precise (sometimes frame perfect) button presses
Actually, TAS game play was made the those that plays the game using a system that basically copys what we do as a gamer, frame by frame...
Kostas Dari technically, it's showing what an a solutely perfect run would look like if humans ever gain potential to pull it off (seriously, them hyper arm pumps though) in both timing and speed.
You guys realize it's not a program, a human plays the game frame by frame. Resetting to a save state, as the video say, 224K times.

I love it when TASes do silly stuff during "cutscenes" like this. He did a similar kind of thing around while waiting at 15:33. Biospark does some stuff like that in his Metroid Fusion 100% TAS, and Dragonfangs does some hilarious stuff while waiting for the final boss...and after finishing the final boss in his Metroid Zero Mission 100% TAS (I think its funnier in the 1:01:43.7 in game time video (this isn't his fastest run, but I think the screwaround is funnier in that one than in the fastest one.) I recommend watching those, some parts of them are just gold.

That's crazy. I remember playing this game when I was young and it took me at least two weeks to beat the game, and he does it in an hour. Good stuff!!! ^_^
He used a hack ;( Actually to go through the game at least need 2 game hours if you collect 100% of items (about 3 hours of real time I guess).
i dunno who Tas is but he sure does play alot of video games rather impressively.

I'm going to use this video as a guide to get all the items, I've never beaten this game and I'd love to do it.

AGH! How do these guys do it? I nearly got this good, but I just KEEP on getting stopped by that door no matter what. And every time I try to do that velocity thing, I just can't get it right. How do you do it? Please tell me how the heck you and the other pros did it. Please.

Why do I LOVE watching this game? I only had the NES Metroid when I was a kid. I don't like any other Metroid games for any other systems. Yet, I keep watching TASes of this game. Any ideas? Super Nintendo is my favorite system by far, but can it really be just nostalgia?
Why did you have the need to use the full heal/super bomb thing when fighting the chozo?
If I recall correctly, the blocks directly above that are the ones that crumble when you walk on them. It appears that doing the healing move like that somehow caused Samus to clip through it, allowing access to the missile pack from the wrong side.

Later got "Bomb" in start game how pass for gate if only later kill boss she stay avaible to shot? have gates in norfair, only open to shot when kill mobs. how shot in gate to open and pass if mobs alive ? O.o

I do not think that my new Shaktool speed-strategy (seems like I am not allowed to put the corresponding link in here) alone would make it worth doing a new TAS, since TASes take a lot of effort and therefore one should maybe wait until more new strategies are found to put them together into a new TAS, but since this is the fastest TAS of this category as far as I know, I thought I´d mention it here, because it could be interesting for those who want to improve/work on this category.

Can you make a TAS of "Super Metroid Redesign" because so far only has the Saturn was in 2006 and is very slow, the Kriole was make in 2009 he made only 3 videos.
